First there was contest. Then there was speed. And, now, we have evidently decided the future of the game is in the air. We have just drafted 3 of the top 10 running vertical leapers in the country in Kyle, Phillipou and King.
Well, Ramps is getting too old to climb goal posts so we need a replacement.

What are we currently at in terms of list spots (under the assumption Lloyd and Rampe are rightly retained in the rookie)

36/?/?

I was disappointed with the way things played out last night with both bids coming much earlier than we'd hoped however tonight has been exactly the opposite from last night. I expected an early bid on King which would have eaten up our 35 pick. Being able to select Phillipou was an absolute bonus. As much as we don't know much about Cootee he may prove to be a good foil for Paps. Then to get King for nothing was just amazing.
Obviously other clubs haven't rated King but I have no doubt the Swans very much do.

Wowee Pies take Angus Anderson, was in the academy a few years ago. Heard some good things about him at Sturt this season. One to cheer on
Angry Anderson likes this

GWS take bolter Jake Stringer

Just read the HS article on Phillipou, and I've got to say, I'm pretty excited by the pick! Yes, he is extremely self confident, but if he can back it up, then we'll have a serious prospect. Sounds like he has fantastic skills on both sides of the body, and add in his X factor and athleticism, then we've got something a little different than our usual flanker type picks! He feels like one of those Brisbane Lions type upside players that they unfortunately have in spades, and players that killed us a couple of years ago in the big one... fingers crossed he turns out as good!

Didn't realise he was an academy boy. Yes, he was really good in SANFL, won Jack Oatey medal for best on ground in grand final. Great to see.

I wish him nothing but the best.

But at 22 years old, others, including us, have had plenty of time to show interest :)

Anyway he is a Swan and I hope he rips it up.
Players develop at different speeds and you don’t know whether there was interest elsewhere, He is the type of player that earns recruiters their kudos. The amount of mature age recruits continues to build.

He will be an exciting watch to see where he goes with it, it’s a great pick imo.

My two cents.
It's amazing how many posters on this thread have the benefit of hindsight. Before it actually occurs.
Let's sit back and enjoy the ride.

If "smashing the draft" and " dominating the trade period" was a measurable quantity. With appropriate medals given. Essendon would be on every dias dripping in gold.

* They're really shit.

I’d like to see the Adrian Dodoro Medal awarded each year.

It’d go to the recruitment team that selected the most spuds in the draft 2 years prior.

I was gutted we didn't match on Carmichael last night, especially as King went so late
Stoked we got Phillipou though, that's a big plus.
Conisdering Amartey is RFA in 2026 and McLean in 2027, I would have preferred Ludowyke or Curtin over Coottee as a KPF to develop over a couple of years.

Seems like a lot of high ceiling players, but also very low floor.

Fingers crossed.
