Hope he stays but people have very short memories. When was the last season he was injury free? And I don't just mean minor injuries.
After the work he and the club put in in the pre preseason wirh Knowles and the knowledge and application of those learnings going forward im imagining this and the next 4 have a far better chance of being injury free. Its not a short memory its investment in a great asset. Id rather take the chance.

Not questioning his value in the team, especially now Curnow is with us. Reckon he's better off signing with us now for less before history repeats itself with injury.

Tend to agree, although I think Roberts & Jordon will be viewed as important too. As might King, if he starts to show promise.

The whole Chad circus will fire up again - and the Swans will want him to stay. But this time, I suspect that it'll be much more difficult to keep him. If precedent is anything to go by, we'd net a very substantial return.

Four and five for Jordan and Roberts respectively for mine.

Positionally, McCartin is our most important player for mine and Edwards is looking great as a foil.

27 and 28 will be big for us in terms of re-signs and forced player movement

I just dont think signing in premonition of an injury is actually in his or the clubs mindset. For all we know he and the club have worked out how to best load his training and make sure all that learning is applied. Sometimes it takes time and experience to look after your body.

Weitering would be a player i would target if Calton are serious about this rebuild.
I wouldn’t. Don’t think we need him. McCartin is a mainstay, Melican and Hamling are competent at worst, Edwards is showing promise. We have Serong who could play back if needed and Snell pushing his case.

We’ve already given Carlton most of the draft capital we had for the next couple of seasons. I think we can afford to keep trying to find young key defenders to push up, and, if necessary, go out and find another cheap Hamling type. At the moment, Hamling is looking like he could play on for at least another season, assuming the mind is willing.

Hope you're spot on given all the patience we've shown with him.

We have zero capacity to trade for a good player under contract, unless Warner leaves.

And once we do get out first round picks back, we need to start thinking very carefully about how we use them with the new bidding rules.

The Amartey situation is interesting and could impact Hayden McLean. If Amartey re-signs then I would say McLean may be traded as there is no way we can accommodate 4 talls on the forward line. You can bet other clubs are watching this with interest. McLean is a good player and too good to be in the Reserves in my opinion but he is down the pecking order behind Amartey, Curnow & McDonald. So if Amartey stays Mc goes. However if Amartey holds off what happens? If he doesn’t sign in the next few weeks I would say he is holding out for a big offer from the Blues ( or even another club) which we can’t match. So what does the club do? In the meantime McLean could be languishing in the Reserves and other clubs will come after him too. My view is if Joel does not commit or reject the latest offer in the next few weeks then he is not invested in the club? It could be a difficult situation for us. We could potentially lose both next season which could hurt as if McDonald or Curnow get injured we are going to be light on for height down forward unless we get someone in trade.
I would try and keep all four and rotate. Haydn will be happy if he gets games and this way, we don’t burnout the other 3 before the finals.

Some draft stuff from Code. Only Pignatelli from the Swans gets a mention. Very Vic heavy.

Ranked: Top 30 draft prospects of 2026 — and who just missed

I don’t care what anyone says but if we draft Pignatelli I’m calling him Babe.

I genuinely look at this squad we have at the moment and struggle to see exactly what we need/lack. (In terms of draftees, as you could obviously go and grab a KPD like Weitering to fill the Melican/Hamling role etc)

In the past it has been KPFs or KPDs, small forwards etc.

I think you could make a case for a 188cm+ mid but aside from that I don't really see much

I don’t think we need him and he’d stretch our salary cap way too thinly.

He’s perfect for North or the Bulldogs to target IMO. Clubs that desperately need a top shelf key defender and would probably be ready to contend for finals moving forward. Bulldogs seem all in for Butters so I’d suggest North should be preparing to make a big play. I could see clubs like Adelaide and Melbourne also being interested but I think both need to prioritise their midfields more than a key defender.

I don't think we will as list spots will be too tight.
We have 1 spare senior list spot from last year that we could use to get to 38.

Adams is done so thats 2

Don't be shocked if some shuffling of Cunningham occurs to get the 3rd spot
