What I’d do to get a Harvey Langford type in our midfield. Big strong physical presence ball winning inside mid.
Parko didn't rate him in his draft year because he was too much of a hybrid, I picked him around May/June of his draft year as the player I wanted us to draft soo badly but he just took off up the board

Do you rate him?
To be honest, every team in our comp has a few gun players. Each week when you look at the opposition's player list there are almost always players you recognise from AFL lists (we have 2 of our own, including an ex Swan). Boronia was a good team but i think they had an off day against us and we won by a kick after the siren which stuffed up their finals run and they went out in straight sets.
Any player who wins a league B&F in that company is a gun player, but i admit that what i saw didn't scream "AFL list" at me. I have been very pleasantly surprised by his form this year and have new respect for him.

One I got wrong, I've got plenty right that you wanted too. Happy for Langford, in the right system and he's going to have a good career. We also got belted by Kai Lohmann in the GF that year we needed a small, and with the game changing that's a good foresight. No doubt if Hannaford was there we'd have gone there, was one or the other. We did get Miami that draft in the 40's that's a hit there. Can't hit every pick.

This years draft looks epic, and it bats very deep so our second/third are going to have some very good players there, could look at a ruck, or a KPD, or a genuine clearance mid. Would prefer the clearance mid myself.

Yeah I was high on Hynes who looks a little dudish as a medium forward, although he is starting to get his chances at senior level in year 2.

I can't remember too many of the guys I wanted because most years recently we have already known the pick well in advance/needed to match a player early.

Think I rated George Stevens and Arie Schoenmaker highly (both are quality footballers, one just a little bit off it off the field from my understanding).

It sucks in a way to go into a draft basically knowing we won't get a top 30 prospect as I just love the buzz of it. Ι reckon the guy that will bolt up the board this year will be Albert MacGowan but if we can get our hands on him on the taller side for a midfielder it would be great, reckon he grows into a 190-192cm ball winning midfielder. Yes thats my early call

Bare in mind though we could trade into the draft, now using what I don't know. Could we get a 3rd or something for McLean, I don't know, but he's surely one to at worst keep an eye on. Just not sure what we'd get, I mean he's one that's probably worth more to us if we can sign the guy for a cheap deal, but it's not fair on him as he's probably better than playing in the VFL. Could a trade with Richmond be in the best interests? He'd actually suit them a fair bit and a third or something could be around the mark.

I wasn't a fan of Hynes and Arie much but as Arie drifted think I said it at the time, trade in as the talent is there, but unfortunately looks like one that won't make it

I still don't know what's so 'delicate' about either Max or Riak being placed on the inactive list, given neither is likely to play any football at either AFL or VFL level for the rest of the season?

We ballsed it up last year with Logan and not taking Cootee at the MSD, and looks like we're going to do it again.

Port just did it with Josh Sinn, even though there was an outside chance he could return by the end of the year...

My moves at the end of the year would be:
Enquire about Serong & Petracca
Trade Warner and retire Lloyd and Rampe

Offload another player or two if needed to make the salaries fit.

I'll probably cop heat on Rampe, but time catches up to everyone.

Comes down to cash among other reasons and what not. I’m not sure at our range there’s a point. Last year I agree we would have had a pick early enough to take a chance on one

Trac ain't going anywhere having signed so recently with GC but he would be a nice addition to our midfield mix. Heeney and him would make a great combo.

Just take the best there for a longer term need or short term gap. If all they do is help the VFL side, missing a bunch of guys until late season, ok cool. If they play well enough to warrant an extension, good problem to have.

I think we were really impressed with Bailey Humphrey in his draft year. Young, big bodied and plays a contested style yet still fast and explosive - he would be perfect. Unlikely I know as the big Melbourne clubs are all sniffing around, but if we could somehow manufacture a trade.............

If not Serong, what about Erasmus. I think he made a mistake last year re-signing. Haven't watched him much lately but he's stuck 5 back from inside midfield time in that Freo side and he's exactly the type. Would shake that tree again after another year on the fringes

If we do trade Chad, it has to be to Freo as we want a player back along with the picks. Freo should know that WCE will be in the stronger position to get him if he sees out his current contract so if they really want him, may be willing to give us a fair deal. My starting point would be 1st rounder + Erasmus or Johnson (both 190cm + mids). Can then quibble over second or third round picks / steak knives.

The player needs to agree and the AFL needs to approve as well. We can't just move the player at our own discretion. Hence why its so delicate as even if we get the player to agree then AFL can reject the request.

Could we draft a player and get them to wear a gold number then they get paid with the proceeds of the auctions outside of the cap

I am well aware of the rules about that, but I don't think that Max or Riak would say no and hold the club hostage, do you?

Sorry im confused the player who knows he is injured and is given a timeframe from the club doctors still needs to agree to be put on the LTI?

Is that right?
