If we do trade Chad, it has to be to Freo as we want a player back along with the picks. Freo should know that WCE will be in the stronger position to get him if he sees out his current contract so if they really want him, may be willing to give us a fair deal. My starting point would be 1st rounder + Erasmus or Johnson (both 190cm + mids). Can then quibble over second or third round picks / steak knives.

WCE have never gone down that route we have a very healthy relationship with them. We can easily match terms if need be. I still wouldn’t entertain trading Chad this year make the most of the two years while contending

Not sure why people expected us to open one. The club, the player AND the AFL have to agree to a list opening (usually an ACL in the most obvious one)

At our pick would be 17 (let’s say there’s 10 before us) we ain’t getting anyone that can play this year. There’s usually 1-3 decent ones and they all go early the rest are just plug a hole types and we don’t need them

I actually just don't get the decision making at our club sometimes. Truly baffling and infuriating.

We have no one to put on the list unlike last year. It’s likely all of Campbell, King and Andrews are back in the back half. Way more beneficial those three getting vfl games than a filler at best in the MSD not as if we get pick 1-5 in the MSD

Max still has a 3 month recovery timeline as it stands (pending tomorrow's update), so would he even be ready for any VFL games? Personally I doubt he'll play any football this year (eg. see Logan McDonald, 2025).

Enquire about Serong & Petracca
Trade Warner and retire Lloyd and Rampe

Offload another player or two if needed to make the salaries fit.

I'll probably cop heat on Rampe, but time catches up to everyone.

Well he’s not playing now & was managed a few weeks ago because he is old now for an AFL footballer expected to play the role he does. So we could dominate now all the through to the finals with Ramps a key player & he does an old man’ calf again. It won’t be 3 weeks & straight back in. We need to move on now.

Chad is not worrh more than Dawson was back then. Dawson a far more consistent footballer & improving. Chad can’t play midfield & perform consistently.
I reckon Dattoli will eventually offer more. $1M for Warner’s output these last 3 years is getting stitched.

I don’t know but if he gets back for the last couple that’s beneficial. A player we get at pick 10+ in the MSD would just be a list clogger

I know many didn’t agree and for the record I’m on board now but I’d have at least been open to dealing Chad last year. Again im
Not saying we were wrong in keeping him but that was the “sell high” point. However, if we are going for a flag Chad helps us more now so both decisions were somewhat understandable and I get it from the clubs point of view

I wonder if list spots longer term made it not worth it. As far as I can see, only Adams from our senior list is an almost definite departure at the end of the season. I think we'll probably say goodbye to at least one of Rampe and Lloyd, maybe both, and with some shuffling (eg Harry to the rookie list) we can open up another spot. Or maybe Harry will just (be) retire(d). Hamling? Maybe, though he remains pretty solid back-up. Maybe McLean will depart. Maybe Amartey will choose to depart.

I'm sure a couple more candidates will emerge as the season progresses, but they're not obvious now.

People talk about him as though he is Dusty. That’s frustrated me for 4 years now.
Dusty made a coach, 30 odd players & a club great single handed. Chad has had so many opportunities to take an important game apart for 3 to 4 years now since the 2022 GF where he was one of our best but hardly moved the needle. He just isn’t that player people think he is. Some odd excitement against the shit teams.

So yes Punts. I’m that frustrated with Warner & gave up on him ages ago that I have more faith & hope that we will get a just as exciting a game from someone like Dattoli.

Cmon Ted..there is some overreacting going on here. Any team would love to have him. He is out of form and can be disappointing at times but if he hits his best it would make a huge difference to us. Overpaid yes but we can't just let talent like him walk out. Hope he does do a Dusty against Richmond

I’d have rather him do a “Martin” against the Cats though. Fully expect him to play well against the Tigers though.

Still wouldn’t trade him that time has passed and worry about it next season
