List Mgmt. 2026 Draft and Trade Thread

I think we will trade out of this year and risk 2026 ppl to get to rookie draft to build up points for 2027. The crop is top notch
Trade what picks? We only have 3 picks of value (we have the 2nd lowest DVI points other than Gold Coast who have 0!)

And by the time of the draft, they'll be worth even less!

Now the bidding rules have changed again, we need to become hoarders of first round picks.

If Amartey ends up leaving, and we don't need to match an early bid, then the compo pick should be going straight on the trade table for future 1sts.

Sure, but it wasn't considered a super draft because of Rowbottom, McInerney, Wicks or McLean. The former two were so-called "bolters" and the latter two were taken as a Cat B rookie and a pre-season supplementary pick respectively. So we didn't conform to the pundits' consensus yet still came out winners of the "super draft."
Well the swans certainly thought it was a super draft and rowbottom mattered. If I recall correctly we swapped our pick with west coast so we could get him.

Then that's a testament to Beatson & co's judgement and foresight, not to the draft itself being a super draft. If we'd adhered to that hype, then we wouldn't have picked the relatively-obscure Rowy at all and we'd have instead gone for one of the players touted as making it a super draft at the time - names like Curtis Taylor, Luke Valente, Will Kelly, etc., who are all delisted now.

I can say now it's KB who finds players like Mellis for the VFL to give them a chance to prove themselves , he loves the Eastern FL as a breeding ground

Hopefully Mellis stays with the swans VFL side as he would be an important player for Montrose in the EFNL if he qualified for finals if they make it.

I just meant, if we get amarety compo, 2nd and 2x3rds and someone needs points I can see us risking that we will get good returns from 2026 rookie class and take picks late as possible and then load up on rookies.

If Armatey walks for big money, we’d get a first rounder of some sort.

My interpretation is they valued that particular draft quite a bit and the hype was real, which is why they thought up such an extreme method to get an earlier pick and screw gws. Otherwise we wouldn't have bothered.

With all due respect I don't think we did anything to screw GWS.

We rated the draft and didn't want to have to sacrifice a live pick from it in order to match the Blakey bid.

If we didn't do the move we made, then it would've just been Blakey and then the next pick would've been in the 40s, which would've been McInerney. Our move allowed us to get both Blakey AND Rowbottom. (A story that surely gets told at their wedding one day.)

Blakey and Rowie are getting married?

Amartey one of the few talls that can actually lay a tackle and snag a couple of goals from forward pressure.

Really good second KPF who wants to be here would bend a little bit to make it all work while we're in a window
