disadvantaged in that we're far below the afl mean. 1 good father/son in 20 years is a massive disadvantage.

Regarding Mac Andrew, yes he does.. Mac Andrew plays and we win in 2022. With 2 number 1 picks and a Fletcher, it's an easy win in 2023. So yeah, everything stacks up and it shows you just how much f/s and nga dictates success. No surprise to see Collingwood and Geelong in the mix of the flag this year. They've just got to scrap the rules.

No you don’t. You don’t get within a bulls roar of us with or without Mad Andrew in 2022. You didn’t without him, and you don’t with him. Don’t make me piss myself laughing: you were good for half a season, then you f**cked off to the ski fields like half your fans when July arrived and let the big boys play.

In a completely unsurprising development you're wrong again.

PGMOL dropped the VAR from performing those duties the following day citing an error in intervening in King's disallowed goal.

PGMOL literally admitted it was an error.
So the PGMOL are to be take at their word now or no?

Because from what I’ve seen the overwhelming reaction after that recording from neutral fans was that they explained the process well, the player trod on the defender illegally which impacted his ability to defend the counter, clear obstruction.

Anyway I’ll leave that there because this isn’t the thread for it.

I couldn’t care less what they got. They have no AFL history to speak of and travel interstate every second week and no father son history and have managed to be competitive every season

Stop making excuses and suck it up. It’s gutless and weak.
They’re not excuses when it’s a genuine problem in the sport. Go read up on some players that have played both in Perth and Melbourne, I’d suggest starting with Barrass and Jack Graham.

There’s no other league in world sport that has the gap we have in player preparation/recovery or even opportunity to bring in high quality players and staff.

It shouldn’t be up to the clubs to “make it work”. The AFL should be working on making a more balanced competition because it genuinely might not exist as a competitive product in a couple of decades.

Still record number of viewers I guess but the administration is an absolute shambles, as is the way the structure the onfield components.

You mean aside from the other one in Australia that has more or less the same issues with travel and draw equitability and a team that is based in another country and one team in the very northern tip of the country and another near the southern part of it, both of whom don’t seem to complain much about anything.

Stop moaning.

lol you mean with your own father/son Tom Hawkins that you got for free? take him out of your team and then lets talk.

Am I wrong? You get the 17 “home games” a year (fair enough that’s the league we’re in), but also 11 are at your own home ground, most of the time the opponents being interstate sides, as the bigger Melbourne clubs never travel there.

Thats 8-9 guaranteed wins at GMHBA plus head up the road for a couple of “away” games against some dud Vic sides and you’re most of the way there.

West Coast and Fremantle have one of the best Home ground advantages in the league.

Nah, we have a lot of underrated players whom I presume you wouldn't have much of an idea about.

Miers for example. He's a gun. Will never get the accolades. He's one of the best gut runners in the comp and extremely creative. Arguably Geelong's most important in terms of how they like to play.
Henry is another Wilkie (underrated gun defender) and barely noticed.
Holmes is finally getting credit but even he took some time before the public caught on.

Now the likes of Neale, Dempsey and O'Sullivan are transitioning into legitimate guns.

I still worry about our midfield.
We need another big bodied midfielder but last night they beat Brisbane's midfield fairly comprehensively when it mattered.
We all know who you getting to fill that hole. See how he plays today for us.

Rayner almost kicked goal of the year contender in the 3rd quarter, fended off a couple and snapped from the boundary, jeez it would have been something if that went through,

Just couldn't deal with the pressure, McCluggage never been tagged properly before clearly underdone, forwards couldn't take a mark, and did a pretty good job stopping our diagonal kicks through half back/centre. Well coached.

Geelong way better though thoroughly deserved that win.

Disadvantaged with father sons? You’re blaming the sperm of previous generations now?

That’s a new one.
You’ve got a two-time best and fairest winner out of the father-son rule during your best period in a quarter of a century who was an important part of your only flag win. That’s more than a lot of clubs, especially considering a number of clubs have more or less got next to no access to father sons or are only just starting to gain it.

Mac Andrew gives you another flag? No he doesn’t. You shit the bed in 2022, the only other year recently you’ve been within a bulls roar of it and you weren’t beating us with 3 Mac Andrews.
Get off the pipe
I don’t love the father / son but it’s what it is. Quite unique. You’re right, we did shit the bed in 22 and 23. Out downfall has been plain to see from there into the sacking of Goodwin. We do have ourselves to blame.

Geelong were impressive. Lions play the G well but didn’t fire a shot last night. Definitely low output from the big names which hurt them. It might be the case of them getting that out of the way before they turn it on its head next week, I still think they are a very good side. Can’t see Neale and McCluggage having fizzers again. Berry was underdone. They’ll get Hipwood back won’t they?

Not writing them off yet.

I think Geelong will get Hawthorn or GWS in the PF. They should be fine with either of them. Hard to see them not making a GF now. Cats have stars everywhere, very hard to beat at their best.

Neale did his calf which, at his age, is an issue. So I don't think he'll play
