You really can't be serious. (Not to mention we actually made an AFL game.... so I'd guess we might know how hard each is, check Ashes 2013 to see how badly it can go....)

Lol way to take a general comment personal. Why don't you start your own thread on the games board where you can do whatever you want instead of still taking pot shots in a thread you said you would leave multiple times but haven't ever actually intended too.

Was looking forward to the career mode and trading and drafting and got shit on straight out the gate when the draft is a messy horrible system of picking names out a hat. No scouting. No heights. Players ages are all over the place. Players are generally shit, and to top it off the one good player I did draft was a 177cm ruck. Gtfo. Wont bother with that again.

love the player creation centre. I made up my friends and I and watching us cruising around kicking goals in port jumpers is fun. Creation is mostly good but player ratings have some weird quirks. Like I went to adjust player ratings in game and a guy like Kane Farrell, his goal kicking, field kicking, speed and acceleration are super so I adjust those and he becomes a superstar player in the game cause that’s really 90% of the ratings. Never mind that Farrell is just a skilled fast player that isn’t half as good at football as your basic kid. Knowing where to run and how to play football are 90% what football is about and it’s not represented in the ratings at all. It should be the main factor in player ratings.

i started playing and kicked 50 goals a game. Kept going up a level each time and now on top level and I’ve been adjusting the sliders too and still dominating. Forwards dominate marking everything while mids barely do anything. Winning clean ball out of the middle without being tackled and getting a chain of disposals happening without getting tackled is near impossible. It’s throwing the ball calls every time I get rid of it. Hand balling takes longer than kicking for some reason.

just discovered the switch to cpu sliders so have made some big adjustments and will trial tomorrow. Basically crank their ability to spoil up while lowering my marking so I’m not a dominant kick mark force. And backed off their tackling ability and how close to me they can tackle or something like that I forget. But just trying to make it flow more from contests. I also cranked the hit outs for me. hopefully I get less 2 kicks and goal type plays and more contests and possessions per a goal.

One of the weirdest things in sports games is how crappy celebrations. You can hit a game winner in 2K and the players kind of stand around. NHL celebrations are poor. I don't get it.

My favourite hockey game was NHL 2003. They had great celebrations for the time. Customisable individual celebration, often followed by team celebration.

I came here to write that, you have summed it up perfectly. The simulation is ridiculous (Sean Darcy won back2back Brownlows on mine). The career mode needs some serious work, I feel genuinely ripped off having to pay 100 bucks for a game that has barely changed since the first AFL Evo (the menu screen seems exactly the same). Not happy.

We didn't mo-cap the Pro's as a team together, we had access to them in isolation, well not isolation like we have right now, but one at a time

This was an interesting one, we had Smithy in the MCG nets with the mo-cap, we showed him the video of Maxi taking him off - his manager cam over and said, he'll be doing none of that! He'll be batting as himself, celebrations, and staying on task... then this happened. (You can hear Chris from Cricket Australia say under his breathe something like "you want to have a go back at Glenn?"....

I feel like team celebrations should be mo capped for all sports games, that's where a lot of the intense emotion lies in a game of sportball and would translate really well to video game. Especially for moments where the score is super close late in the game, or there's a game winner, win a flag/tile/division etc

For me, that's one thing I feel that's been criminally overlooked in sports games to this point. I understand the complexities may cause problems with animation

Maybe next gen will bring greater realism on this front

But from what you're saying they only really mo cap in isolation

There are technical difficulties as well, if you get too many dots on too many players in the one mo-cap scene, you often get issues with detection which dots belong with which people, we generally use two actors/sportsmen at a time max.

We use the same mo-cap equipment they use in hollywood for movies, if you've noticed in the making of/behind the scenes stuff for those guys, they often have the actors do their mo-cap scenes in isolation, in front of a chromakey (green) screen.

Indeed, I truly feel Big Ant have delivered a great game and one with emotional passages through a game of cricket. I just hope This current AFL game comes to fruition as it feels it can be very good.

The main purpose of this thread, if there is one, would be to have communication between the game's creators and its paying customers. Given there is essentially zero of that, I think there is really nothing to derail.
