Works out to be about 35 cents a face scan. If face scans were all the DLC includes.

I only just jumped on board last Monday (my birthday) and it's ridiculous. I mean, it was always good value, but then they went and added Bethesda and EA and it's pretty much impossible to ignore. I don't think I'll ever have to buy a videogame again.

I bought a Series S initially because I couldn't get my hands on a next gen console. Jumped on Gamepass and have loved it. Managed to snag a PS5 but always end up on Xbox purely because of Gamepass. There's just no denying how good it is.

Hey guys I want to start a season and control every team.. but struggling to know what to set every teams tactics to. Any chance someone could send in what they think every teams tactics should be? Cheers

Just took the DLC for a spin on the PC version, it's good. Like a lot of DLC it looks like they've tidied up some stuff but haven't included it in the patch notes. Everything is a bit shinier (make what you will of that), the game feels about half a second faster and a bit more frantic, a few one handed grabs more than normal, some of the scans appear a bit sharper, minor stuff like that.

For $10 I think it's a steal but each to their own. AFL games will always have rough edges, I continue to be impressed that Evo 2 is quite playable overall and dare I say it fun.

Commentators still talk about the winning team as losing constantly. Are the devlopers completley incompotent, or have they just never played their own game?

It's weird but I think at the heart of it it's simply a basic AI tree with plenty of shortcomings. I imagine WW are keenly aware but know how much it will cost to do a proper overhaul and it's in their 'one day' pile as a result.

For me the simplicity really comes out when commentators are wrapping up a game or quarter. Some scenarios are covered, but if you're wasteful in front of goal and the margin is six points instead of sixty, you'll hear Gary going on about how pleased the team must be with their performance. Total blind spot.

Given funds are limited for an AFL game I think they need to pump every available dollar into refining the gameplay. They've made solid progress but they need to double down and make it feel like you are 100% in control of the player with good support from your AI team mates around the ball. We're also yet to have anything approaching crashing through a pack or a big hit that sends someone flying. The game will be a lot more fun and maybe even stand out from other sports titles if they get this part right.

They just need more money and staff and a dedicated team to work only on an AFL game, year after year.
Sadly that won'r happen.
If they could overhaul the A.I. and add in 3 or 4 times the animations that would definately help though.

I learned with the AFL games in the 00's the commentary was best turned off :p. I could include AFL 98/99 in that butttttttttttttttt I liked Bruce's dulcet tones as well as the Leigh Matthews cameo appearances. I heard enough of the commentary in EVO 1 on youtube before buying it myself to know that it was best to turn the commentary volume OFF before playing the game. If I had to hear the commentary I probably wouldn't have lasted long playing the game.

Pretty much did the same with Evolution 2, hearing "welcome to AFL Evolution 2" at the press start screen was more than enough.

I think the simpler messages in 98/99 work better anyway. Don’t need to insert names and margins often into it sentences and end up more like live 2004.

But the fix is simple. In the code, there's either a 1 where there should be a 0, or they need to put a - sign into their equation to calculate which side's in front for the commentators to talk about. Literal 1 character fix.

I think it’s the best AFL game by a country mile and it’s fun. It’s a solid game. People expecting FIFA level gameplay are kidding themselves. The game looks better and feels a bit different post patch.

Planning on getting back into this having enjoyed it last year but not played for a long time.

I recall last time out I changed the sliders at the recommendation of people on here, with one of the most crucial changes being making the run speed or game speed 0 from memory?

With all the updates since I’ve last played, will that be necessary? Have they dialled things back a little, or still best to tinker with the sliders.

Yeah that was my settings I think. I repurchased this game on PC the day the update came out, and hunted down my settings from the other thread.
still using run speed at 15 or whatever it was, but I think stamina drops off a cliff earlier on now (with my low slider settings for endurance), so running speed comes to a grinding halt.
I still prefer low endurance as I’m certain it causes the AI to be unable to constantly stay 1v1, creating a more accurate simulation.
But theres also a slider for sprint stamina (not infront of my PC) which I’m slowly boosting, so guys can still sprint when needed. The AI for both teams only uses sprint when going for the ball, so this might be the solution, with everyone running around slowly (relatively), but able to still sprint when required to get the ball.

The final lever to pull if all else fails is to individually tweak each players settings to achieve this.

One fix I forgot WW added which I’m loving is the set shot slider. So much better now. Where you can set it to a challenging combo of small green zone, and kick charge speed. It actually rewards you for finding targets closer and more infront of the goals.

Good to hear that it plays a bit better since patch, I think I will cave and give it another go.

I think remember using your sliders to get the most out of the original version. I'm gonna dip back into the game for the first time in almost a year, so if you don't mind chucking up what you're running (slid) at the moment I'd appreciate it mate.

Also, I'm sure it it hasn't been optimized by WW, but does the game run any better on next-gen consoles? I'm going to be playing it on ps5 for the first time later tonight.
