Collingwood curse is over, and the record of no team winning 4 consecutive games against us in a decade continues!

Tomahawk, take a bow!

Also Domsy must be a seriously strong unit, Cloke is a beast and couldn't move him

And subsequently got smashed..
Outstanding game from the much maligned number 13

selwood again awesome, and how good is guthrie going as a shut down player?
johnson kept very quiet tonight.
burbury good effort, no goals but got to it often, linked up well and had good i50 pressure.
blitz was good when he first came on in the third, but not seen much in the 4th.
simpson and hmac looked to be making a fool out of a few of us, but dominated the 4th gifting us the win in the end.
GHS was great early, went a bit quiet, same as caddy but still really good from both (apart from caddys d50 handballing..)
sheringham was solid.
brown an interesting choice to sub, but i think the right choice in the end.

sooooo....yeah. we won. awesome. and we are the eagles first decent opponent for the year next year.

Hyphen must have ran over the umpires dog or something, how the hell he got pinged not once but bloody twice for holding the ball how he did I have no idea

Grundy had 20 hitouts to half time but finished the match with 24. The opposition is going to start to play two full time ruckman against us, otherwise we will have a huge advantage in the second half through the middle.

Made that harder then it should have been. Got some work to do, but so happy we beat the Pies!

GHS was good and deserves to keep his spot, has good composure and knows where he can find the ball.
Yeah could have iced the game during the 3rd quarter if we'd kicked straight. But I did love the theatre of Hawkins tearing out the pies supporters hearts.

Curse , pffff that doesn't even start till 5 or 6 does it.

I think we held up well with some very tough pressure from Pies. Good for us.

I'll watch it back , but a couple things I noticed. Blitz was more of an option than Brown but needs to work on his setshot. Its repetition skill the more he does it the more he will know his kick , but he gave us something where we were getting nothing. Id say CS will be hopping that Kerten can get back soon , but it wouldn't suprise me to see Walker in next week.

On the whole very happy with the two rucks, Simpson was lucky in the lat minutes of play but I like that he was aggressive an tried to do something. Just needs to get a handle on what his limitations are and the downside if he muffs it.

River was better in the second half , one bit of play when he landed a bump was one of the best thing he has done in the hoops. Still think he slows us. Its no coincidence he is better in the Q3 or Q4 all the time when other slow down.

To be fair to Brown it was a very difficult game for forward but that what he will face ina big game final. Hawkins stepped up in a big game,,not for the first time. Dont think he the athlete he once was but he is probably honed his skill to a better level

Bad night for most of our mids. Pies worked them over

Lonergan...what more can I say. yet another notch in the Cloke and Franklin belt. BOG

That was a high pressure game and both sides made mistakes they'll rue in post match review on Monday. So far this season there's a concerning lapse the Cats have in the red time of quarters that let teams back in. Not sure if this is a fitness issue or a concentration one. We had a dirty win, but we'll take it. Lots to work on, but its only round 3 and all that's important at this stage is banking the 4 points. It's all about being at peak fitness and form by the end of the season, not at the start.

I really liked how our young blokes stood up under pressure. Sure they made a few errors (like Caddy in the 2nd) but overall I thought they did pretty good. This is a most encouraging sign for the future.

I thought the Pies spent all their cookies in the 2nd quarter and didn't seem to have the same intensity after that (only in short spurts).

On the whole , I think you guys are far more dangerous under Buckley. Elliot has one hell of a vertical.

He can certainly jump. Reid and Brown are big outs for us. I think your experienced defence was the difference.

As expected the big boys slaughtered Grundy in the last quarter.

Blicavs good for 5min but not much since, don't know why he still gets a game.

Varcoe was pretty good again.

Sheringham is a list clogger, just doesn't have the disposal. Don't waste games on him when Bews and Thurlow are fit.

GHS was good, he should be fulltime mid.

Caddy isnt consistent enough for fulltime mid he should be mid/forward. He is a good contested mark up forward and think he has more value there.

Brown was average but just started to get into the game before being subbed.

Pretty happy to get the win, considering our outs.
