That despite adding four clubs, the quality hasn't been diminished.

A shorter off-season and quality kids drafted have helped lift the game another notch.

My prediction of Brisbane defeating Melbourne in the Grand Final is looking good, and that Adelaide and North Melbourne are the third and fourth ranked teams isn't too far off the mark either.:)

I was a little surprised at how well Essendon performed in their game, although it was against a fellow first timer. In the next three weeks they play Carlton, West Coast and Richmond, all winnable games against teams that aren't too far advanced in terms of their development, so it probably won't be until their round five clash against Collingwood until we learn how far behind (if at all) they are from the teams with genuine ambitions of a finals spot.

Fremantle are in an interesting position, they have some league leading talent on their roster, but they look a little light on depth.

I loved what I saw from North, for the first three quarters anyway. We came into the season with more than a third of our list without any AFLW experience and with a few injuries had to play five debutants, yet all showed some great signs at various stages. The big tests are over the next two weeks against Melbourne and Adelaide.

And after the last three AFL seasons I love seeing North Melbourne on the top of the ladder.:)

Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide will be strong as expected.

North and Collingwood played well. See how the Dockers go next week, but I still put them in the same bracket. Be interesting to see how they match up against the top sides, but these teams look a class above the others. North versus Melbourne is the game to look forward to next week.

Essendon were good as well, but time will tell about Hawthorn. Be interesting to see how the Bombers go against the Blues next week.

Crows, Melbourne, Brisbane

No other team has any chance at all. They are too far ahead of everybody else.
North Sydney Oval makes for a good spectacle atleast.

The quality of 5 of the foundation clubs (Bris, Melb, Adel, NM and Pies) is getting better and better but sadly the gulf between them and the first 6 expansion clubs is getting bigger and bigger.

3 of the new expansion sides look like they'll be rubbish with Essendon looking an outlier.

Not sure what the solution is but going to end up with the same teams winning over and over for a while longer.

NM were one of the first 6 expansion clubs.

Notwithstanding, there will be a period of up to 5 years where redistributing talent around the league is a major issue.

I can see continuing priority picks, Free Agency and salary cap concessions as possible tools, depending on the reaction to routine ones sided contests between the best and the stragglers.

After that it will likely become more cyclical and more closely related to how well/badly Clubs are managed.

AFLW Match Review – Round One

The AFL advises the Match Review for Round One of the 2022 NAB AFLW Season Seven has been completed. Seven charges were laid with no further incidents requiring a detailed explanation.
Sasha Goronova being sighted for her bump is ridiculous, especially in light of Vescio not being sighted.

Didn't jump, wasn't high, wasn't late. Hit her shoulder to shoulder as she was in the kicking motion.

Vescio was late, and high.

Yep the girls had only like 10 weeks or so to assemble a team,be ready to go come rd 1.

If the girls can get together and play as a footy team in a short space of time then the mens have no excuses considering they had 6 months to pre pair for the season.

The mens should be bloody embrassed with how they played this season.

Oh, okay :( I'll just give up now then

I'll give the AFLW away for good

Thanks for the heads up :thumbsu:
