Notice press still showing the likelihood of Prowse and Gould leaving .
Surely the Crows would be doing anything to keep these two ,who are our future, as both can only can improve after last season growth.
This would not only put us down with the never was and newbie teams next season and onwards.
Instead of ploughing money into waning stars like Randall and Hatchard who has become if not best AFLW player to average player in 2 seasons is remarkable.
As posted here tall players of ability are rare let alone Gould who gave us a real presence up forward and Prowse who just grew amazingly as a tall defender with all the skills at 20.

Damn it!

Another one the Crows chased apparently, though I’m not exactly sure what that exactly entails? Maybe Phil Harper sent an Email to both Roux and Howarth but they never got back to him?

I’m a huge fan of Howarth too, enigmatic but a very interesting and magical footballer.

Has anyone requested to come to the Crows?
No and that’s not unusual given in the entire history of the competition only 2 players; Niamh Kelly and Renee Forth requested a trade to the Crows from other clubs.

Hannah Munyard & Jess Allan joined as well via trade but both were just returning home.

Harper must must get nostalgic and think he’s in the Neil Craig days again 😆

With the SA monopoly gone, nation wide draft nominations, no NT for several years now and junior talent level improving making the gulf between top draftees and lower end speculative picks so much bigger all the recruitment methods that worked previously that made this Crows team 3-time premiers and perennial finalists aren’t really relevant anymore so without managing to at least get some above average players through trading in or trying to jump in to the top 5 of the draft it’s going to make staying competitive very hard for the future.

Article on womens.afl claims that Prowse and Gould are likely to stay.

The Bulldogs had placed offers to Adelaide pair Caitlin Gould and Zoe Prowse, though both are likely to remain at the Crows, while they also tabled a lucrative bid for Sydney ruck Ally Morphett before she elected to re-sign at the Swans.

Good, now that that’s all apparently sorted and because the club can’t attract any current worth while talent from other teams around the league the entire Football Department (Phil Harper) should be putting all their (his) focus on the Hail Mary play of somehow jumping ahead of Port’s pick 4… start sending some more emails Phil.

AFLW trade news: Maddi Gay likely to get to Bombers after tense trade negotiations

The Demons and Bombers have been locked in tense negotiations on a move for a premiership star which has been threatening Thursday’s deadline, but will it get done?

In the News Corp Papers.

Essendon DNA comes to the 4. Thankfully Crows not dealing with Bombers for Trade

Best bit below:

' The Bombers hold draft picks 13, 33, 53 and 71 – but sources close to trade talks suggested their starting point had bordered on being unrealistic.

The Bombers had been determined to retain No. 13 while also bringing in Gay and Gold Coast’s Bess Keaney (Vice Captain) as well as keeping a pick in the second round.

That dream scenario would have effectively netted the two targets for almost nothing.'

Where trade period's biggest deals sit ahead of deadline day

Richmond's move for Adelaide's star ruck McKinnon is also a standstill, with the two teams unable to find middle ground between the Tigers' first pick at No.11 and their second at No.29.

It's understood Richmond spent Wednesday reaching out to rival clubs over a pick-swap that could land a selection in between picks No.11 and 29 to satisfy Adelaide, but have so far been unable to make any progress.

Also interesting:

The proposal – which remains up in the air – would see Dogs defender Katie Lynch move to the Suns in exchange for pick No.14, as well as veteran defender Lauren Ahrens and youngster Jasmyn Smith.

The Bulldogs would then on-trade pick No.14 and All-Australian midfielder Kirsty Lamb to Port Adelaide and receive pick No.4 in return, adding to the No.1 pick they already hold due to their last-placed finish in season 2023.

If this happens, we do what it takes to get ahead of pick 14.

Richmond have gone out of there way to give McKinnon a bumper deal pay up with your pick you pricks, hell I’d even throw in pick 18 if it gets 11 now as if Port get 14 back that pick 18 would be less meaningful anyway.

If they don’t get Window it’s just been a flat out disaster post regular season, look at Brisbane for example they’ve been pilfered in recent years, still win a flag and now they’re signing some further reinforcements by filtering off some of West Coast’s good young talent… meanwhile the Crows are going to have Hannah Button and Deni Varnhagen just sitting uselessly on their list…

I respectfully disagree with your analysis that it would be a disaster if we don't get Window. We have always been a long shot after the Power signed Goody, Young & Brooksby with Pick 4. They have been the front runner and we would have to do something out of the ordinary. The scenario opens the window slightly if we can get Pick 11 with a later pick for McKinnon & Pick 18 and the deal is done after Port's Lamb deal.

You lose 2 out of 3 finals including one at home after finishing top of the ladder, you can’t land any talent to get you better in the short-term, miss out on goalkicking reinforcements with Roux and Howarth saying no to the club’s ’enquiries’, lose a key structural pillar in McKinnon (never fully utilised her talent but a key to how the team setup at their best this year) and still despite getting rid of some keep some real deadwood past it players on the list due to ‘Good Guy FC’.

Just because it could’ve been a hell of a lot worse if Gould & Prowse took up their lucrative offers from the Bulldogs doesn’t mean the football department (Clarke, Harper + a couple of hanger-onners) haven’t again just sat on their hands, been relatively poor in their planning and been stagnating while others try to improve.

Let's be honest though, we could have easily won either or both of those finals. Absolute 50/50s in the end. We didn't lose either of them due to a list deficiency. Simply keeping our list together (sans McKinnon) is a pretty good outcome. Yes, Bonner is also gone from the best 21 but no huge loss there. Even with McKinnon, as good as she was, Allan can easily play as sole ruck and we can now add in another running player. The main issue with losing McKinnon is that it leaves us very exposed if either Allan or Gould miss with injury/suspension.

I agree that if you're not improving, you're going backwards, but with Port snapping up the best three SA talents for free before the draft even happens, it was never going to be the year to jettison all of our deadwood. If we can add a seriously good SA pick with our first selection and then take a role player or two later in the draft (backup ruck, mature-age forward, project midfielder?) we should fully expect to be at the pointy end of the season again, and owed some good luck this time around.

In isolation yes those finals could’ve gone either way but now looking back on it and to see what that Brisbane Lions team was that won the whole thing and the holes they had in their side you can’t but go a bit Steven May and think the Crows were a stronger more consistent team than them overall this season so the playing group got some things drastically wrong especially in that 1st final.

The stagnation is the worry, I feel the team’s strength has also become its weakness, keeping the group together is great like I said the loss of Gould & Prowse given the lack of talls around would’ve been really bad and the ability to not be raided of the clubs top talent has meant its performance hasn’t dipped dramatically especially in the last 2 seasons but I feel like it’s also made them insular and adverse to embracing/forcing changes.

Just look at what happened to Brisbane it actually galvanised them especially when Starcevich called them out mid-year for playing hurt by the departures rather than seeing the opportunities it opened up. The club really comes across like they think that what they’ve got is enough, that they just need to make slight tweaks on-field and there’s not much else they can do when it comes to other things like trading and recruiting, I just don’t buy it and think that it just smells like a half-hearted effort from a minuscule, barely there football department that’s basically a 2 person operation.
