I think they’ll be absorbed by Yarrambat from what I’ve heard. They were struggling big time regardless

yes i agree, but nevertheless i think they( Hursty junior people) will not be happy.
Its a win win for the senior club id say.

So, reading the HS, Keilor coach Mick McGuane said "...the Blues had already enjoyed a strong return to pre-season with almost 100 players on the track."

“We’ve got strong numbers through the senior and reserve grades,”

“We’ve pushed a few guys into the VFL system if they want to test themselves. Then we’ve got 19 of our under-18s training across the Calder Cannons and Western Jets programs.

How does that compare to other local clubs. 19 from their 3rds in an elite system. 100 on track in November....just wow

Is there any club in NFL or other leagues that compare with this sort of system?

I just read that and am truly amazed that local footy is getting to this level.

With Port Adelaide and possibly the two WA clubs wanting into the VFL probably making it a true AFL reserves league in a few years (especially if broadcasters see $$ in it) is there room for a league with elite clubs like Keilor and say with NFL like Heidelburg, EFL like I guess Vermont or Balwyn forming a city-based league? Say the MFL (Melbourne Football League)

It could not be inconceivable. Things always change and evolve, especially when $$ to be made.

Old Xavs had 11 senior teams in vafa including 4 under 19 teams and 2 womens

Its a good point and one that will come to a head in the next 24 months.

The AFL reserves comp is 100% happening, and happening soon.

Will be very interesting to see what happens with state league footy in the 3 primary AFL states.

There will be room for expansion if the old VFA comes back, and i think your suggestion here has merit. Promoting strong Local clubs will be preferred than creating new clubs (i.e Murray Kangaroos, Bendigo Gold), who dont have existing supporter bases.

Besides these stand alone clubs being able to offer VFL football there is absolute no incentive for anyone to play there nor do they have any sort of sustainable pathways to be in some make believe comp.

In my mind, a perfect world would see a new top tier comp for stand alone clubs, with the VFL sides, plus top sides from each region, and somehow from there work out a promotion and relegation system.

In English semi-pro soccer it works, where regional comps filter into a nation competition, which then leads to the professional leagues.

As it stands it won't work here as all the league's seem to be working against each other, but if somehow they could work it out so there was a Victorian wide too tier, with larger regions below it, then smaller regions below that for smaller clubs, all ran by the one governing body

This is way deviating off from the original question of what happens to stand alone clubs, but I think would provide a solution, albeit quite a massive change.

Is there a demand for another side for the NFNL in the Preston region? Well the answer is clearly no.

Sadly these VFL clubs either exist in local form or shut up shop as I see it. Existing in local form would mean recruiting 60 people from nowhere to even have a chance to exist.

Disagree with this entirely.

VFA would become the tier down, or in some peoples opinion, the same tier as the AFL reserves comp. The AFL reserves comp will basically be an under 23s comp.

What these clubs need to do is align themselves with Coates league clubs and create a pathway to allowing these players to continue to put themselves in somewhat of the spotlight. Also continue to pick the eyes out of the local comps to offer them the spotlight and pathway through to hopefully getting drafted.

Radio today mentioned some medico's at Australian Institute of Sport have sent a report in that ALL concussions need a 21-day standdown period no exceptions.....other than professional sportspersons.

Stay tuned, the government will no doubt enforce this, the NFNL will have no option to comply.

I can see them reviewing games like tribunal and demanding a doctor's certificate from player prior to returning.

Clearly over a latte and free feed whilst working from home the NFNL powerbrokers realised they may miss on some kickbacks and also could not fine anyone, so they threw a hissy fit.

Not an expert in the area but sounds like the NFNL don’t want the show attracting sponsors using “their” name.

Is it any different to a sponsored podcast about AFL? Not really. Maybe they are scared of its potential popularity. Maybe the NFNL should hire them and put them in the media team.

The NFNL are a disgrace, until they get their heads out of the sand and realise that you dont need $$$$ to do things or promote things the better the league will be. Any wonder people are dropping off left right and centre due to the runnings of the league. They think that they are running the AFL in fact they are running a league which is dropping in reputation further and further everytime that something arises. How about supporting the guys that had a crack and from the responses have Made a huge impact on the short time promoting Clubs within the league. In the short time they have done alot more than what the league do for clubs. And they have the cheek to ask for Volunteers to take photos and other jobs that they cant do or have any idea how to do. Why wouldnt these be paid jobs???? Maybe cos then their unjustifiable wage would shrink. Well done guys and girls you have a done a great job.

In regards to clearances, how hard would it be for someone at HQ to copy and paste the transfer, put it in an excel spreadsheet and make it available for all to see
Was always great looking at to see who was leaving club A to go to Club B
