Sweet still can't play forward so how will he play the Lobb role?

Lobb was also our most likely and most consistent tall yesterday not that he had much to beat given how poor Marra was after 10 minutes

I wouldn't mind seeing a stretch of games without Tim and with Sweet now though,

As much as Tim is a "Unicorn" he is the exception to the rule but is still often beaten by lesser players

I meant rather than resting Tim, have him play in the Lobb (KPF/second ruck) role that he was so good at in early 2021 - not Sweet. Have Sweet in as the main ruck, and Tim instead of Lobb in the forward line. Although I do agree that Lobb has been relatively good recently, albeit with a couple of bad misses in the fourth yesterday (which I think Tim might have kicked at least one of, hence my interest in seeing him back in the forward line).

All of that said, I don't think it's realistic. Tim is obviously (and probably rightly, even with his faults) seen as the first ruck only. But I would give Sweet the game this week, even if it's as a token attempt at putting him in the shop window to bump up his value - as teams will have to trade for him, right?

JUH did have a poor game, was pretty bad at a few contests - particularly ground balls/tackles - but he wasn't alone there. Best guess is he'll have a monster game this week against not much, but a bigger test awaits in rd 24. He'll still be inconsistent some weeks but he will need to stand up against a good Geelong defense.

Anyone know what is happening with Garcia?

Sub v swans in round 18

Played VFL the next week against the bullants had 29 and kicked 2.

Next week VFL had the bye

Game back from the bye he was out managed.

Didn’t come back this weekend and no mention of him in the medical report
Hamstring I heard him say at vfl against north Melb.

Injured:
Libba

Omitted:
Daniel
Macrae
Weightman
A Jones
Vandermeer
Smith

Couldn’t give a flying * who we bring in, but all those players above played like they wanted today off so they can have it off next week.
This with an extra sprinkle of who cares.

May aswell start the post season autopsy fred now.

With our current set-up/structure we are not a contender.

So why not throw caution to the wind? Bring in Sweat as 1st Ruck. Play Tim as a Fwd / Ruck (I really rate him as a KPF). Drop Lobb.

Consider playing Naighton as a KPB. Consider using McCrae as a tagger.

Selections this week should really be with an eye on next week

This game is irrelevant tbh. Type of game that will anger me with our players doing everything right when it doesn’t matter
This is it. I can't see anything too cute with selections.

Maybe rest 1or 2 carrying a niggle but should setup as for finals football.... If we make it?

Out: Libba (inj), Bont, English

In: JJ, Sweet plus 1 more

Hope Bevo puts the acid right on everyone else (Bont and Libba excused) to get over the line against the worst team in recent memory ... at home .... in a must win.

Stand up in the absence of Libba and Bont who've been the carrying the rest of them all season.... or get traded, delisted or whatevs

English is not a good KPF he had 1 good game against Brisbane in Ballarat other then that he really didn't impact much

We all know we will smash the Eagles and look like world beaters. Then choke at Kat Park.

This is our form guide:

And yes, if we somehow made the eight after losing to Geelong we'd probably win the first week of the finals ... but you know what would happen after that.

It's a sine that something's not right. I'm sorry but I'm pretty much checked out for 2023.

Gone off on a tangent DW. Is it cos we're no good

This year is cooked, should have done so a month ago, but start planning for next year. A game against West Coast is perfect to play a few younger players and give them a bit of confidence.

Out: Libba, Keath, A.Jones, Vandermeer

In: Buss, Clarke, Cleary, JJ or Scott if JJ's not fit.

We all know Bev won't do this it, so will probably only end up being Libba for Scott.

This is exactly the sort of soft, flat track game we win and high five and dance around like we're world beaters before Geelong come and finish us off next week. Personally, I would play the VFL side, maybe they'll show a bit more heart and desperation.

Not maybe they will

That effort on weekend and the lack of appetite for the contest and ability to play without intensity is a mystery still.

Given there rucks are Bailey Williams and Jack Williams i'd say 0%

I'm not sure of your logic? Are you saying Sweet wouldn't be good enough or English doesn't need any sort of rest and will be able to ruck against west coast with one hand tied behind his back and therefore won't get tired?

How can you rest our 2nd best player this year (English) in a must win game?

If we do make finals he will have a rest with the bye. He should have been rested already if he needed it (I don't think he does).

I'm all for playing Sweet but English has to play too.

A friend in Kensington offered to pick me up and accompany me to a game this season and take me back home afterwards. She and her husband will be spending four hours in travel time to do so. I just took advantage of the Tuesday special $15 GA tickets.

I will be with my rollator walker probably on the 3rd level with wheelchair assistance to my seat. It has been over five years since I last went to a game. The last game I saw, we lost. That will not be the same this time. I expect to be wearing my 33 year old scarf and, if I can find it, my Chicago Cubs baseball cap.

No matter what happens, I feel like I'm coming home.
