Errrr the point you did not mention is that these players mentioned bar Cunnington are all explosive fast paced mids who can cover the ground very quickly. Cunnington is a liability when the opposition has the ball, the other guys you have mentioned are much more effective in defensive situations.
Hi mate. I know it’s a tough time for a lot of people and many of us are struggling. If it’s help you need we are all here as a community to lend a hand where we can. All you need to do is ask. Stay safe.

Nothing is fundamentally as it should be, there is nothing wrong with the game, it's people's mindset that is still set in the past and because of that, we are still a mediocre team. Take the shinboner's spirit for instance, that's precisely the reason why we are a middle of the table as we do just enough to not bottom out but then again we don't get the top picks we need to truly build a good list. 2020 is the lost season, we won't win the flag or get anywhere near the finals so why not strategically build a solid foundation and add the top picks in this year's draft. In the engine room, we got simpkin, ldu, thomas, bailey and then you add 2 more top 5 picks, it is a very strong team. Keyposition backs we have servicable durdin and mackay if these are no good, there are plenty of free agents we can pick up. Josh Walker is a no name player who has been colossal in defense and came from rather obscure origins. We got a good young power forward in larkey who will be a strong focal point in attack for the next decade.

"The game is fine"
"The shinboner spirit is a historical relic that is a hindrance to the club"
"Looking backwards for corrections is wrong because we must always move forward"

These might as well be the words of someone who just hates what North Melbourne represents and must detest the game itself if any knowledge of the prior quality of games is to be inferred. To claim the shinboner spirit is the cause of our woes is a really bizarre take to have.

Fundamentals are fundamentals for a reason, they are static, not constantly in motion or ever-changing states for the sake of mindless progress.
I really don't agree with literally anything you've said regarding what you view as the core problem that North has, especially with regards to bottoming out. That strategy does not work, it has been proven so many times it's not even funny. We've watched clubs rack up No.1 picks to go nowhere. Thinking high draft picks solve your problems is short-minded thinking.

People keep asserting these observed symptoms of 'where we went wrong' and they're all not based on anything other than opinion, because, for something to go wrong for a club, one answer is not enough, one year is not enough, it has to be assessed broadly in each area. We drafted poorly, we managed the list poorly, we suffer from a lot of injuries, we haven't developed talent well, we don't make smart trades in the past, our talent scouts are inefficient etc.

I don't need to remind you we're not even a full year into a new regime, of which our list manager hasn't even touched the list, and all of these structures that change over a LONGER period of time are going to take time meanwhile throw in the fact we're dealing with a pandemic that has interrupted alot of that progress. Look at all the staff that's been furloughed.

That's all I'll say on this, because clearly you and I are polar opposites on how we view the club and the game itself. We're not changing minds here.

Best and fairest is only at north melbourne...............contested possesion is not the gamebreaker it sounds out to be, it's the disposal effectiveness that really counts....
One of the best hand ballers in the game...?

Contested possessions are actually important... competing against an opposition player to get the ball.

And yes, obviously BnF at North Melbourne, of course... lol

Getting a BnF at any club is a high achievement.

No they aren't. Neither is Pendlebury or Joey Kennedy. They are all big units who extract the ball. Pendles is a bit different to the others but similar to Ben in that he creates space.

My fellow Shinboners, as a young boy i dreamed of being an inside bull, but tonight I say we must move forward, not backward. Upwards not forwards and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

Once upon a time, the week after we put in a stinker i would be confident of a good showing in the next game. This crazy year however, who could really know what to expect, after the first 10 minutes i will know if we are on or not. A statement at selection would be a good start.

Don’t blame me, I voted for Kodos Ferball

God help us then.

I don’t like it, but can see it will occur. Wholesale changes rarely happen.

Suspect we will bolster the middle with Dumont spending more time there and Scott on his wing.

Bringing in Daw would draw some excitement to a game that no-one is excited about right now and this might happen for Xerri.

Personally I’d like to see us unleash Will Walker, reports suggest he has played well as an inside mid.

I don't mind hall in there as he clearly needs to be where the ball is to get involved... if no Higgins then has that spot. the cunners spot needs to go to Bonar to win the ball and rotate ahern around there too.... bring in walker forward in jz or hall spot.... bring in Scott for atley and daw for Macmillan

Has to be at least three changes.... cunners and higgo are out so there's two and then surely daw in now so that's 3 min

If Cunnington and Higgins are injured and Jack isn't available the best we can hope for is something like
Out: Cunnington, Higgins, Xerri (omitted), Hall (omitted)
In: W. Walker, Scott, Daw, Bonar
The best we can hope for is not getting done by over 10 goals at this stage.

Agree that Durdin deserves a go, always competes well and has good size

him and/or Maj in

straighten us up at either end

we don’t have a true 3rd tall at either end which we had last year

there are too many small plodders running around that aren’t doing anything for our structure around the ground, this is why our smaller players get caught on talls
As has been a trend for a while now our small to mids are too slow and get beaten week in week out for pace from stoppage. Has been happening for years

One of the last real rolls of the dice IMO. Still want to see the selection team mix it up a bit, no point scraping out this win unless we can build on it. Still only a game off 3rd place, anybody throwing it all out today has rocks in their head. Still a wide open race in such a ridiculous season.

Totally agree still so much to play for.... get daw in this week and then larkey next and get cunners and higgo fit.... both * and tiges for the taking

I still reckon run Hayden through the middle, good 2 way runner, strong and looking fit
As much as I agree with you.. I think he has found his niche back there. He could become that skilful dashing defender, we’ve been crying out for.
So much of the modern game is set up from behind the ball, I think I would prefer him to grow in that role.
I mentioned previous, he reminds me of R.Shaw when he was playing defence.
Leave Lmac to play the tagging role. It’ll be a win/win. As Hayden’s disposal is better.
