Unofficial Preview Changes & pre match discussion vs Richmond

The biggest threat to losing this game is ourselves.

It doesn’t matter how many warning signs you put up saying ‘don’t drink the water’ ’unsafe for human consumption’ some of these guys will be drinking it by the gallon come quarter time and we will be looking at the eagles match all over again and the bath will be empty.

It’s kind of like the plot to a Stephen King novel, a specially written horror story just for north fans. You think everything is going ok and the world has adjusted to our view, shortly we will be chalking up our fourth win suddenly……..from behind…….Christine painted in full tiger colours starts mowing down our players, worse still she’s being driven by a murderous maniacal F ing clown dressed to lead the Richmond cheer squad 😬

Of course this is just a fictional story, it can’t be real can it?

Brahahaha 🤡
Our mids (LDU, Sheeze, Wardlaw, Kerch, Powell) have to play a four-quarter effort.

As much as the patches of dominance been a sight for sore eyes, they are still patches, and we are still averaging 1-2 10-20 minute patches where the midfield is a dead-zone.

Play four quarters and it will be a comfortable victory.

i thought the west coast game and pressure was harder than the lions.

we could have easily beat the lions if not for the back to back dumb turnovers
I’ve heard a bit of complaining about the dumb turnovers, but honestly most of them I thought were kicks we’d been pulling off against everyone else but did not against a much sharper and more disciplined opponent. Not so much kicking to the opposition as kicking to teammates who were under severe pressure by the time the ball arrived in a way they hadn’t been against weaker opponents.

CCJ out for Goad and Corr out for Pink. Spargo stays until the bye and if we need someone else out to bring in another player ( Konstanty, RHJ ,or Dovaston) then make it Zuurhar. It's time for him to be managed.

Trembath might genuinely be the "number one banana" ... even as early as next year. He's a talented kid. But that would be a meteoric rise.

Honestly Larkey as the second priority forward is a mouthwatering thought because he's been the sole target for so long that we won't just forget about him. He'll be a genuine second target and in the players minds as they go forward. he could end up kicking more goals than before or than Tremors in any year because of it.
current form has him there already, seriously larkey would never take a flying grab over a pack like that one on the weekend, souva has him in accuracy however. but agree that letting larky become a foil like he was with ben brown is a great proposition and even better if it means week in week out duursma gets the 3rd prong defender,

Spargo, looked unfit, definitely missed proper match conditioning. If he is here for nostalgia please play him in the 2nds. Offered nothing against the Lions.
CCJ, no-idea why we recruited him in the first place, would rather we kept Teakle, at least he would have broken even.
Corr, wasn't terrible but if Pink is fit he is a better player

Pink, if fit, better option than Corr
RHJ or Konstanty, depends on match-ups. RHJ is one of the best ball users at our club. Konstanty for his pressure. I would lean towards RHJ.
Shotty. Won't be worse than CCJ and at least will be competitive. Is more developed than Goad. Goad has missed a few games with niggling injuries, not entirely match fit.

CZ has one more week I reckon. We have a boys club and tend to keep players in longer than they deserve to be there based on contracts, draft and leadership positions, even when they are doing nothing useful on the field. I would prefer a meritocratic system but we have never done than since Pagan's days. Based on merit, CZ would be out and Fisher would come in.

Dova killed it against kids, leave him in the 2nds until he lights it up against a proper reserves team.

Out: CCJ, Corr and Zurhaar
In: Goad, Dawson and JK/Dova

Perfect opportunity to give Goad some time in the seniors. Weaker opposition and not the best ruck. Dawson should come in to relieve him in the ruck and get some time in defence (I don’t know if Pink is ready) + I don’t want Trembath in the ruck unless absolutely necessary. Definitely think we need another smaller forward in there and Zurhaar doesn’t warrant another game in the seniors. Spargo deserves at least one more chance unless fitness isn’t up to standard.

Very good point HTH. There were a few corridor intercepts that were picked off by the opposition literally by them getting a spoiling fist or a body check in at the very last second, which caused a turnover.

Nothing wrong with the direction or placement of the kick, just Premiership defence doing their thing (and a little help from the umps helps too).

Against any other side those corridor options are marked by us and we’re off to the races and probably win the game.

Some of those turnovers were junior errors of receiver not attacking the football allowing a defender to close the gap, a glaring one was LMAC in the corridor that resulted in a turnover goal, wasnt a lot wrong with the pass but he literally stood there stationary inviting oppos to pick him off, simply not good enough for arguably one of the most experienced players on the list.
