I thought Cleve Hughes played really well today and if he backs up his performance next week he should become a regular.

What are your changes for game Against Cats?

Mine are:

IN: Thursfield, Polo,
OUTS: Gaspar, Jackson

Gaspar wont get dropped, unfortunately.

IN: Polo
OUT: Jackson

Thursty isn't ready yet. Hes played 1 Coburg reserves game. I say give him 1 more but I'm all for getting him in the side.

We could have done with another midfielder like Polo today, I reckon. The balance is just about there though.

Thursfield won't have anywhere near the match fitness yet. Forget about him for another month.

Thursfield won't be ready for another month yet
Jackson did a good tagging job on Braun
Polo may be a chance to come in, maybe for Edwards who was quiet and had had a taste so needs to go back to Coburg to play full games for a bit

i agree that edwards now knows what it takes to play at that level and should be sent back to work on his game. polo a definite in. players up for selection would be meyer & moore. we would all love to see gaspar and tivendale dropped for them ;)

Out: Petts, Hyde, Edwards
In: Polo, Meyer, White

And Maybe Moore in for Gaspar
Give Jackson and King one more week to prove there worth. Jackson hopefully to play on and shut out Ling (he killed us in the NAB cup game)

Why would you drop Jacko for playing a good game? It's happened to him every time he has made the team. If you were smart and were thinking about the future you would drop Johnson, Gaspar and Pettifer and bring in Polo, Moore and Reiwoldt

He's been dropped more than three times....that's the number of good games he's played.

Nothing wrong with his game and personally I wouldn't drop him after yesterday...but I am predicting what MIGHT happen or is LIKELY to happen, not what I WANT to happen.
You are obviously a Jackson fan...nothing wrong with that...and would pick him every week. Reality is Polo is coming back and Meyer is a likely inclusion as he starred against the Cats last year. Someone has to make way.
Personally ....and I have been calling for it for weeks ...Pettifer should go, though I highly doubt Plough will send him packing.
But it's like the Australian cricket side, the first in is usually the first out...ask Brad Hodge!
Gaspar is the only tall defender with any real experience and will remain a feature of this team whether you like it or not!!!
Playing McGuane and Moore in the key defensive posts at this stage will be like throwing them to the wolves!!!

In: Polo, Meyer
Out: Pettifer, Edwards

How can you say Edwards he is a gun still learning the game. I can think of many players that should go before him.

OUT: Edwards, Hyde
IN: Meyer, Polo

Petts will come good. Nowhere near as bad as some make out.

Leave Edwards in the team gee. Pettifer should get the flick down to Coburg for a few weeks.

Correct goldie, what posters miss is that Gaspar is helping Mcguane's development. Mcguane got a couple of games last year (admittedly when he was less ready) because we had no key backs and was given a big task and was made to look ordinary. Its easy to make comments here dropping players at will but I am sure Luke is happy GAS is there to carry the heat as he must do to justify a game. Cats have N Ablett, Tommahawk, Mooney and maybe Otto up forward - No way Gaspar will be dropped you would think. Moore played well against Box Hill and may be back - Meyer will be back for sure. Dont know where that leaves Polo and JR. Ideally would like to see both King and Edwards continue , particularly Edwards but they are a chance to go back to Coburg.

My changes
Ins Polo Meyer Riewoldt
Out King (reluctantly) Tuck & Pettifer

More likely

In Moore Meyer
Out King Edwards

Looking good at Tigerland with Connors and Casserly pushing for selection in near future as well

The changes are going to be a tough decicion this week.

There are several players from Coburg banging down the door to get into the senior side and the majority of the players against West Coast showed that they should remain in the side. The few poor players against West Coast can't be dropped because we have no replacements for thier role or because of the role they play (eg. being captain).

IN: Meyer, Polo, White

They all were extremely good for Coburg last week.

OUT: Gasper, Johnson, King

Johnson should be out injured because he is nowhere near his best. Gasper was ineffective on Saturday and has been making a lot of crucial mistakes lately. King is young but the other youngster have shown more on Saturday.

If Gasper goes out I'd like to see Richo go into defence for a quarter and see how he goes. It might not work out but it would be interesting to see what happens.

I'm not too keen on shuffling too many players in and out this week. The guys played quite well yesterday so most should stay in.

We have to win against Geelong.

I don't think we'll change at all unless King or Edwards are dropped for Polo.

I'd like to see JR/Meyer back so maybe we will drop Edwards and King for Polo and one of JR/Meyer.

OUT: Edwards, Hyde
IN: Meyer, Polo

Petts will come good. Nowhere near as bad as some make out.
______________________________________________________________

Can't recall ever seeing Pettifer taking a contested mark. He does however put himself in the way of the other forwards hoping for an easy posession and goal.
His defensive pressure is the worst I have seen from any forward.
He's had 87 chances. He gets angry with himself instead of his opponent.
If he wasn't a reasonable kick he'd have been gone long ago.

IN: Polo, Meyer
Out: King and Edwards

Talk of jackson out is rubbish he played a good game on braun

King and Edwards to go back to the VFL and get more game time

hopefully in the next couple of weeks, kingsley , brown and pat bowden can get back in
