Interesting that Norf have omitted Stephenson. He ran amok against us last year at Optus.

He was pretty putrid last week granted but thought he’d be a horses for courses selection.

IC looks diverse, so I'm betting we won't use the top-ups unless as a last resort.

Guessing Hough, Foley, Billiams and Naish on the bench, XON to sub.
No way Hough gets a game over XON, when we've added another HB in (Witherden).

I think bench will be XON, Foley B Williams and Naish. That's a pretty good bench.

Waterman may play back to cover for Barrass (North did our trick and played three tall forwards last weekend), so Williams might play more as a forward.

Could go either way I think.

Witherden is essentially a straight swap for Barrass in the backline. Makes us smaller which is a good thing. Rotham and Hurn can cover taller guys.

Nelson played predominantly on a wing last week. We could either push him back into Hough’s spot, or we could leave him where he is and drop O’Neill to sub.

The other changes are pretty neat. Darling a straight swap for Kennedy, Ryan a straight swap for Langdon, Kelly a straight swap for Redden.

Shuey could be a straight swap for O’Neill who only played 61% gametime. Alternatively if we leave Hough out we need to switch things around a bit.

I don't understand the close contact ban.

Surely they can isolate away from cases they've been exposed to and test them sufficiently to ensure they don't have it when we're 3/4 days out from a game?

Beagles play East Fremantle on Saturday morning. I was considering heading down but now I’m worried I’ll be thrown a pair of boots and asked to fill in.

Hey you won a flag as the Full-back for the Bears, don't undersell yourself :p

The team’s getting on a plane tomorrow.

The team’s getting on a plane tomorrow.

Ofc, true, It was a genuine question. Like Kennedy for example has he caught it? Otherwise he would be in the frame to be cleared before the flight as he was cited on Monday(?)

And is it an issue with named teams, otherwise you'd think they could be cleared and fly out game day?

And would the same restriction apply if the game was in Perth? Ryan/Kelly were ruled out earlier in the week and afaik they didn't test positive....

So for the second week in a row team selection amounts to who’s available.

And we’re one positive case away from lining up with a top up player as sub (unless Jack Williams gets that)

As the game takes place in Vic where close contact rules are not as strict, does that mean its likely our outs this week have covid as opposed to being close contacts? Legit might have other players miss too.

I suspect that irrespective of the actual rules, the club probably doesn't want anyone that could have COVID to be in the confined space of an aeroplane for 4+ hours, with re-circulating air. That's pretty much a sure-fire way to get the entire club infected in one go.

Potentially silly Q, but I'm in QLD so unsure what close contact protocols are in WA.

Are the covid protocols determined by state gov or is there an AFL covid protocol which apply to all teams equally?

AFL protocols
