I respectfully disagree. I saw Schache throw himself at the game but **** a lot of things up. For the most part JUH was "invisible" last year because he was off screen while his direct opponent cut in front of Naughton for an easy intercept. I also disagree with the notion of judging him on historic rather than more recent form anyway.Let’s judge Jamarra on his body of work last year in the AFL, definitely wasn’t as bad as what Schache dished up last night. At worst Jamarra is invisible, Schache can be downright hurtful - no excuses on last nights performance he probably just cannot cut it at the top level. In saying that I’m willing to try him as a 3rd tall defender and that’s it.
I'm not defending Schache here - he was bad, and you could see his confidence shatter with every moment. We know from previous experience that he can't really work through that at AFL level. He has to spend some time at VFL level. But "couldn't be worse" isn't a justifiable reason for a selection decision, even if I agreed with it.
