Season’s gone, so to help out the the defence do we drop Dawson back as a the 3rd tall/floater, and let Lairdy and his minions (Soligo, Berry and Schoey ) loose through the middle?

‘Efforts off the ball” losely translated means “run around like a headless chook wasting energy achieving very little”.. or spoiling your team mates trying to take screamers over the top of them even though your a fxxkn midget..

which is far more important to the mchenry, murphy fanbois than actually kicking goals..
This just in: efforts off the ball don't matter. Amazing insights.

Why the hell would you drop Mcadam?..

The guy played bloody good against the dees.

And going in with one KPD has been a proven fail on numerous occasions now..

And you put Murphy in the sanfl but didnt list him as an out in the AFL.

Gollant in with tex, fog and TT makes that forward line far too unbalanced.
I just wanted to get Gollant in and it was between him and McAdam. Could drop/rest Fogarty

After the last 3 losses, I'm having trouble getting excited --- let alone even interested --- in this week's Showdown. I'm oddly indifferent. I think it might be 2018-2022 PTSD plus another year of wasted opportunities. Losses snatched from wins and selections which favour out-of-form seniors over developing talent. Is Nicks the man for Finals' success? I doubt it.

Murray's injury is a cruel blow to him and the Club. A lot of straight-legged landings like that have resulted in ACLs. I hope it doesn't have long-term negative effects on his playing. He's been a rock in defence, steadily improving.
Rachele suspended, and Rankine out injured; looks like our injury-luck has been spent.

Silver lining from this week? Tex re-signing, but after his form so far we knew he would.

Whomever they bring in this week, I hope even just one newbie shows that they will be AFL-quality.

A win will make everything better. Those wins when they aren't expected are often the best. Unfortunately the season has caught up with a quite a few mainly due to Nicks not realising that you can't just keep grinding players into the ground without rotating them for a rest, being injured or out of form. He's obviously learnt a valuable lesson which hopefully he can use next year if he's still with us or he can take to his his next club as an assistant when he's relieved of his position. His philosophy of not trusting 50% of our squad has cost us finals combined with poor goal kicking.

Thanks for that.
True --- a win would be unexpected as with Dawson's last-kick-win last year and, yeah, it would cheer me up (although I don't really need cheering after the 4th Ashes Test).

Problem is, it won't make everything better.
The list of negatives identified by many posters in here is too long, with the biggest being our midfield and ruck. Even if we draft promising mids, it'll take a few years for them to come on. In fact, we have done that (Schoenberg, Berry, Pedlar, Soligo, Rankine, maybe even Jones) but gee they get belted week after week.
The anticipation before a Showdown usually fires me up; just not this week.

you see his running patterns from the SANFL telecast?
Usually I'd agree with you .....very hard to see running patterns at all on TV

But Newchurch was different .....he kept running across the screen ....back & forth, same pace (jog) and same lane .....approx 15 mtrs boundary side of centre circle

It was too repetitious to miss it .....he moves so slow, and most of the time he had no opposition player anywhere near him .....that's how dangerous the oppo thought he was

This really is last chance saloon time for the Crows.
You have beaten Port and Brisbane and have kept the other two top four teams to less than a goal in 3 games.

I truly believe you have better credentials to be in the eight, than a couple of others in there.
It is going to be a battle with your injuries, though I hope the lads have a real crack and gain some belief to finish off the year.

We pissed our season away with poor performances against Essendon and GWS, both of which were essentially 8 point games.

We play better against the top four than we do the middling sides, which is promising in terms of potential but frustrating in terms of being able to bank premiership points.

Saints don't deserve to play finals but I think they will be replaced by Carlton. Saints have a tough draw. Too many points by us combined with half the team hitting the wall due to the coach playing the same team every week. There's always next year.

Changes
Nankervis definitely stays and has another game
Cook showed enough to stay in

Both of these players showed more skill, flair and talent than our two mainstays Murphy & McHenry who are at best ‘real triers’.

In; Laird, Keane, Soligo

Out; Muza, Izak, Murphy Sloane to sub

Next year the coach will be doing exactly the same thing. But without Dood and Murray for most of the season.

Hardwick knows what he's doing. I feel we will get a good bounce with him regardless of injuries. Murray and Doedee (if he's still a crow) back for finals. I have faith in the club to make hard calls.

Yep..
Efforts off the ball dont mean shit.. if you’re a garbage footballer like murphy and mchenry..

Pointless putting in so much effort when you dont do anything damaging with the bloody thing when you do get it.

Glad youre finally starting to clue yourself in..

I love that we all try to come up with changes to help improve the team with an eye to the future.

The exact opposite of what the club actually does.

I'm expecting a midfield this week to consist of Crouch, Laird and Sloane.
With Dawson at half back.

It's going to be so much fun! Get your money on Rozee and Butters to have 40 each.

Too true. Port will smash us in the midfield if they keep Sloane, Keayes and Laird in there. Shame Rankine is out..would have loved to see him run through their again...

Would love to see us give Chayce Jones a role on Butters
