Not sure why there's talk of Crouch playing with Laird coming back in. He only came in as Laird was injured so it seems a straight forward swap. Laird, Dawson, Pedlar, Soligo, Schoenberg, Keays, Jones is plenty of depth in the middle. Berry is another they could consider as sub. We aren't giving Crouch another contract so we should prioritise players on our list next year.

I'd wager crouch will remain. Helps reduce Sloane's stoppage minutes. Sog to forward to replace Rankine. No clue what they do with Murray's spot. Think I'm missing a change though.

We have a choice. Either develop or put the best foot forward to winning the showdown. Crouch is a midfield bull who can help even out the Centre. Obviously he has his flaws but forcing Keays and Sloane out of the bounce should be something the coaching staff look for.

Crouch takes Dawson's spot in the middle who goes back to cover Murray so we don't have to play a backup tall defender which they've avoided doing all year.

I just threw up in my mouth.

Port play a pretty simple midfield gameplan. Congest it, then paddle or grubber kick it to Rozee or Houston waiting behind the pack who then passes on to Butters who then breaks from play (or vice-versa).

Just get Keays to stick by Rozee and Jones to stick by Butters. McHenry to lock down Houston.

Take those 3 out of the game and Port are relying on metres gained by scrubbers like Wines and Boak.

If Crouch stays in i can see Rozee or Butters running it out the middle with Sloane, Crouch and Laird all waddling behind not even getting close.
Yeah we will definitely lose if Crouch plays in the middle. Maybe draft picks are the priority so anything is possible. It just seems strange that they don't play Crouch all year and now suddenly he is the flavour of the month. Maybe Nicks is doing him a solid to showcase him to other clubs after he is delisted by us.

I can see why Crouch comes in for Laird. but we cant play both.

Of the midfielders/wingmen we have who are a chance to play, what would our quickest combo be?

Quick
Jones

Medium
Dawson
Laird
Cook
Sholl
Soligo
Schoenberg
Pedlar
Keays

Slow
Sloane
Crouch
Berry
Hateley
I don’t think Berry is in the slow category. Well at least he’s no slower than Laird or Sholl.

Been surprised Berry hasn't pushed harder this season. Thought he'd banked a pretty reasonable base in 2021 and 2022.

I know he had that calf issue early but that doesn't explain his season as a whole.
It was the video skit he did at the start of the year, it’s the new blonde hair cut.

I think there will be a lose/lose selection tonight.

If as we all hope, Michaelanney is good to go then we either drop The Nank and bring in Borlase or Keane or we retain The Nank and stick to two talls (Butts and Worrell). I can see Finlayson cutting us to pieces if we play just two tall defenders but he will probably rip us apart regardless.

Retain The Nank!

I think Hinge is big enough to go to Finlayson, ditto with Worrell and Marshall. Dixon is their only real 'power forward' that can stand tall in a big marking contest.

Hinge probably needs to go to SPP.

In the coaches eyes we are still a chance of finals when realistically that went with the Essendon or Gws game. Nicks has a habit of playing a rookie for a week, the rookie really producing (as they were ready 12 months prior)on debut or in the first 5 games and then immediately dropping them. It must be great for the rookies confidence to have such faith from the coach. He really is a bad coach.

Agree.

We should bring Keane in.

Flat as a tack still about Rankine and Murray in particular going down, but will be great to see Nankervis and Michalanney together.

Plus Soligo to play with his housemate the Nank, and Rachele to join next week.
