Our issue is in actually getting it in to the forward line with the efficiency required to be able to kick a point.

Crows: 0.1.01 def North: 0.0. 00 by 78 unforced errors.

Your ability to win centre clearances will hold you in good stead. Given our record of getting smashed in this area should see you have plenty of forays forward.

My prediction is we'll likely outplay you for a large part of the game, but you will get a run on at a certain stage which will be enough for you to win the game. Happy to be proven wrong though.

Just sit 5 metres off us and wait for us to (select) handball/kick to (select) ankles/5 metres left/5 metres right/5 metres over head/ directly to opposition player/in to the grandstand, and you will be racking up possessions in no time.

North excells at making opposition teams look 5 goals better than they actually are, as is proven by our opponents current 0-6 record the following week.

This sounds like it has the makings for a classic :D

You've described neatly the Crows' own non-game-plan, except you didn't mention jogging after players running with the ball. Your blokes will take a heap of uncontested marks --- from bullet-passes and/or blind bombs by Crows players --- in your D50. No, wait.
Make that all over the ground. :confounded:

How the hell is Fogarty still a week away? Last week we were told that he would absolutely be ready to go this week. It’s not like he would’ve lost that much fitness either with a shoulder, could still run. Wtf was this injury and how does a shoulder bruising have someone out for now 6 weeks?
It was bruising on the bone, not muscular .. typically slow healing

Also sounds like no chance of seeing Schoenberg this week but maybe Sholl... for a team in an apparent rebuild we really aren’t promoting much youth over the last month.

"We need a win Nicksy".

I'll be playing footy myself so won't get to see this game. Hope we lose but guys like Jones and McAsey find a bit of form.

Initial reaction: "Brad Crouch's injury will open up the door for more young talent!"

Reaction after team selection:

A lot of that comes from the lack of long term vision and planning from higher up the food chain I imagine. Every year the minimum KPI set is "make the 8" and one way you can do that is consistency. What we saw in 2019 was the most glaring example of this in some time. Every single resource thrown into just winning a game and clinging to the 8, development and learning went out the window at both AFL and SANFL level, we were like the gambler who was losing so started making more and more reckless bets hoping we could pull one off and get back to even, but just dug ourselves into an even deeper hole.

Now in 2020 that price is being paid even harder than normal and we still have that external pressure coming down of "Just get a win" because even though we changed thing in the football department there is still a stunning lack of clarity, knowledge and vision at the CEO and board level at the club.
I think it is important that we try to win this game - and pick our best available team accordingly... but not for the reasons we saw in previous years.

In 2018 & 2019, it was a case of "get one win, the players will regain confidence and we'll win more - enough to make the finals". That was a complete failure, which resulted in picking our oldest team week-in-week-out, regardless of how poorly they were performing.

In 2020 it's about getting a win, to minimise the psychological scarring & damage being done to our youngsters by losing week-in-week-out. This is about winning a game for the psychological wellbeing of our players, particularly the youngsters.

Winning this game won't cost us pick #1, and in all likelihood it's our last winnable game for the season. There is no downside to winning this week, and significant downside to losing.
