I get that this is the narrative now, but I don't remember the 2016 GF being that bad. Should I rewatch it? It's also possible that I was quite drunk at the time

20-8 frees. It was the culmination of a month of doing everything within their power to gift the Bulldogs a flag. People were talking about how bullshit the frees were all through the finals and there was never a correction, they went even harder.

The scratch match report said that Ladhams mainly played forward, with Hayes doing most of the ruck work. Makes sense, given the reserves doesn’t really have a tall forward (except Buzza)

But does mean that they are pretty confident of Lycett playing tomorrow. Motlop also kicked 4 in the last....

Reserves:

Best: Motlop, Drew, Atley, Houston, Mead, Ladhams

Goals: Motlop 4, Farrell, Ladhams

2016 GF is the worst umpired GF I can remember.

Emergencies:
[32] Sam Mayes, [25] Sam Hayes, [36] Boyd Woodcock, [40] Jarrod Lienert

Buddy also got screwed over in the 2014 Grand Final when the rest of his team mates didn't show up.

From report hayes and lienert played today. I may have heard woodcock aswell but not sure

Mayes is the 23rd man

We bring back Burton, Rozee, Marshall and Duursma and people still manage to lose their sh*t

I love you Port board
Westhoff still holding the biggest gold pass ever seen.
Why play a kid who would be chomping at the bit to have a crack, when you can get the same laconic, insipid, uninspiring mediocrity of a slow 40 year old. Whoo hoo.

7 have signed up for 2023-24 and are basically paying the old 2022 fee + CPI for both 2023 and 24, but after negotiating a reduction of $70m fee for 2020-22 seasons. 7 are also saving $17m production costs for 2020-22.

Foxtel haven't signed up for 2023-24 yet. They negotiated a $90m reduction in fee for 2020-22 seasons.

They have done their calculations based on what they paid for NRL fees in 2016 and looked at production costs and subscription revenue and advertising revenue and reckon they probably over paid by $300m back in August 2015 for 2017-22 AFL TV rights.

Murdoch at the August 2015 presser for the deal came out and said the AFL is the superior product - sledging the NRL, despite trying to destroy the game in the mid 1990's and then having monopoly control between 1998 and 2012. They have found out whilst it might be the superior product, they overpaid for it.

I have no idea what the true value should be, but easy to look like you’ve overpaid when you undersell, due to over pricing and providing poor service

Clearly he is saying they do not believe Hayes is up to the challenge.

If it is Marshall for Westy, then Marshall has to ruck part time , which seems like they would prefer to Hayes, although I can see Ken giving Westy one more game to find some form.

278 games not enough. Why wont he just ****in retire already.

Motlop should be kicking 4. He'd be up against lots less pressure than he would at AFL level. What Motlop does in scratch matches (or the SANFL) tells next to nothing about how he'll do at AFL level.

Swans haven’t lost by ten goals this year, probably this century, so whilst it would be nice, you probably need to lower your expectations a tad.

We did win the corresponding fixture last year by 47 points, even after kicking our trademark 13 behinds. Granted that was in the olden days of full-length quarters.

No Sam Gray tomorrow!

Ken played Sam Gray 96 times in a team that was upper to mid table throughout Sam's entire time at the club. He now can't even get a gig as an emergency at an injury ravaged bottom 4 side.

I'm not sure there has ever been a senior coach in the history of the competition with worse talent identification skills than Ken Hinkley. I bet Sutcliffe wouldn't be getting a game at the Swans either.

No melts but Woocock is stiff (pun only partially intended). Hope he has a big future with us. Good to have the ins back. Especially Burton where we have less depth.
