What to do about Treloar ? I thought some his work around the stoppage was painful to watch. He looked like he was running through treacle , again.

He's still a silky mover with the ball, but he finished with 12 disposals and a weak kick at goal which would have iced the game for us.

Can we continue to carry him along ? He was only on for a bit over half the game. Sadly I don't think he's going to regain full fitness or confidence in his body.

Yeah I said it last week but I would "manage" Treloar. Not moving well or doing a ton defensively unfortunately and doesn't have a spot in the middle, especially with Libba coming back soon. Can give him a week or two off and re-assess.

In - Libba (if ready), Jaques
Out - Treloar, McNeil

5 day break if anyone plays from the reserves today. Thinking only Libba for McNeill hope Cody and ADZ can back up after 6 day break.

Chance to go 9 wins 5 losses. Think we will win not sure if it will be 1,2,3,4,5 or 6 points likely to be one of those margins.

Against Adelaide they have sometime exposed our height in defence.

McNeil out for Libba in is easy.

But Bevo might want to get more high in (I doubt it) but if he did then options:

May comes in Lobb goes back.

Buss comes in - Lobb stays as ruck forward.

Hard to know who to drop but probably Bramble or Trelor.

Love Trelor but if Libba comes back we can have him in the guts and if hit there then his limited running ATM..

Bramble was pretty good bringing the ball out with Dale and Buderick but Buss is a good ball mover so may another option.

I'd do the exact same. (I'd then rest Kennedy against saints in Treloar's place)
Now we're getting everyone back we need to start managing the older guys like the better clubs do well.

I would like to find a way to squeeze Buss in but not sure how.

Treloar's significantly better than half the team when he gets the ball, he only played 58% game time. The other options are liabilities when they get the ball, or aren't tough enough in the contest.

Treloar & Mcneil for Libba & Dolan is pretty easy id think, I really want to get Busslinger into this side too though but not sure how. Can’t drop Coffield & Buku, can we play them all? Maybe. I mean guys like Treloar are playing 50% game time and can’t run, are we really losing ‘run’ by swapping in an extra tall who likes to get on his bike and uses the ball well.

It may free up Buku to be more of an intercepting threat which he’s lost since being tasked with tougher roles. Also Bukus ball use and link up has been great this year so he can focus on that a bit more too, along with Coffield.

His game time will build, keep playing him. 6 day break off 58% TOG is ok, into 10 game break with Saints then a bye

Also playing a difficult role off half forward, it’s ok for him to be rusty.

Out: McNeil Khamis (Stiff but it’s Buss time) Treloar
In: Jaques Buss Libba (Lenndy if Libba not fit)

Buss is the future Buku is gone (Buss is also better now regardless) Bukus effort is great does some nice things but is a liability 1 on 1 and we need to be ruthless now at selection

On that we can’t keep playing Treloar kicked a goal but if we are playing him as a forward only which we are he is just a liability

Treloar was looking for the easy, cheap possession too much vs Hawks. On one of Red's turnovers he put the ball into the position Treloar should have been running into but he'd already turned towards goal looking for a cheapy.

I still think he brings value to the team, but he can't be doing that stuff.

I like Buss coming in as a bigger defender but wary of the ball use in the back half. I still think Buku gets caught out too much defensively and for me if Buss comes in, a decision needs to be made on Buku vs Coffield. Tough one.

I also liked Cleary's performance in the team before he went out. wouldn't mind him back in at some point. But it is getting hard to see where these positions will be coming from.

Agree with it all think Coffs last month puts him ahead of Buku now

Cleary in could push Dale up to a wing where he has played sporadically the last couple of weeks again not the worst option

Not a chance in hell Coff's getting dropped after this:

Yeah I'd go Buss for buku personally, but most likely is that the back half goes in unchanged.

Agree with this regarding Treloar… he doesn’t need to be rested, he needs to ramp up his game time if he’s any chance of getting back to his best. We are nursing him through which is a luxury with obvious benefits if it works.
I would seriously consider resting Bont for the Saints game before the bye which would give him a huge break to get his body right for the run home. Remember when Bont was out for 7 games early last season… the team found a way and young players like Freijah and Sanders stepping up to fill the breach when a goliath like Bont is out.
Libba back will be huge! absolutely huge…
Exciting times!

In Libba(if fit), Jaques

Out McNeil(injured) Treloar

Can’t see us making a change in the backline at the moment but think Buss will come back in eventually. Tough call on Treloar but don’t think we can have him, Libba and Weightman in the same side at the moment especially when they will be on managed minutes.

Haha, they nearly killed him :D

Same with Sellwood last week.

Who will be The Hero on Thursday night? Baker last time :D

I think that's a little harsh. He wants to be of value to the team but he's acutely aware of the legs potentially letting him down. Bevo might be prepared to give him time to "warm up" but it's clear this can't continue for too long. He may step aside for Libba and play when there's a suitable role or break-glass emergency.

Im seeing more composure from Coff down back than Buku, yet alone the Salary cap hit which Coff will also be a bargin.
Get the 2nd round compo for Buku, and Buss/Coff will both still be cheaper than Buku reportedly at 700k.
