Agreed on Worner and given how good he's been defensively, it's likely he's keeping Walker out now more than Banners. Disagree on Wagner, he's earned firm best 22 status off only short term injuries. he comes in ahead of Ras, Fyfe, Banfield and Noddy IMO
He probably does but it's not the same as bringing back Walker, Young, Fyfe etc due to duration of time out.

My point is that I think it'll be just the best 10 or so that get brought straight back in after a long time out.

I doubt match committee think two weeks is a long time out but tbh I've seen stranger things happen.

FWIW I think we've been holding players back a bit longer but where there's an obvious spot in the team that needs filling we've gone a bit earlier - e.g. Fyfe was brought back when we had a lot of unavailability.

What's the answer for our need for a bit bodied mid? No Young, no Johnson, O'Meara and Erasmus aren't it.

Can Fyfe dial back the clock?
Brodie.

Of everyone who we've tried through there ever since he went out in early 2023, we've never even considered having another look at him. He's persona non grata.

Must've ****ed someone's missus or something.

Yeah I'll never understand it either.

Never heard of anything negative about him from any of my sources either.

He looked slow and ordinary a couple of weeks ago. Afraid to kick the ball and was fumbly. Maybe putting too much pressure on himself or maybe his body can’t handle the pace at that level anymore

He's always at Brayshaw and Serong's inner circle get togethers too. It's super weird.

While watching JL on 360, I noticed that one of the players on tomorrow night is Boak. I'm guessing that the big Port news tomorrow is around Boak's last game and lines up with his 360 time.

Sigh..

Hopefully he just announces this is his last year rather than last game. It's possible.

Unfortunately Port's stars are very good so it's not like we're playing West Coast in Jamie Cripps' last game. And yes, the rest of their team is usually but they may just lift for this occasion.

I think people really need to go back and watch how abruptly Brodie vanished in those two finals in 2022.

Fair or unfair, it was papers stamped stuff.

O’Meara hasn’t really captured his pre-injury form. I doubt he will get dropped given his veteran presence, but he really does need to lift. Would love to see Wagner straight back.
O’Meara shutdown Hewett and brought physicality and aggression to the midfield group that were being bashed senseless in the first half. He was a key driver of the second half turn around. I agree with Wagner back in for his run and pressure but would not be dropping OMeara after that game.

If Walker is fit and still can’t come in.
Just feel like Walker is needed the closer finals are.
Walker does not have a record in finals that screams get him back in the team. The current backline has been working as a collective cohesive unit. A change like Walker could upset the team defence dynamics. It’s unlucky for Walker but he really needed a period of games with this backline to establish himself again.

Banners is the Michael Jordan of Rowan Jones.

there's a reason Carr wants him at Port... Butters is a free agent next year (not saying they're similar level, but Carr will need more depth there if Butters goes).

we know why J Lo doesn't play him; likes 2-way runners and Brodie has no defensive game

but i reckon it should be 'horses for courses'. for some games you need a 'see ball, get ball' guy and Brodie is that. does one thing very well and, shocker, when we get dominated at clearances we have to come from behind.

Port is 3rd in the comp for clearances from stoppage (but way worse from CBs, around 14th). we are 7th in both.

guy wins clearances. get him in against a good clearance team?

Agree he was bad in those finals and he is a limited player but he does have a 1 wood which was good to watch in ‘22.

I’m neither here nor there with Brodie but what I don’t understand is that all of MJ, JOM, NOD, Sharp & Raz have been average to poor AFL players since ‘22, yet Brodie could never have another look in.

Boak retiring.

However, based on Tom Morris post he is playing the year out so not a farewell this week.
They have two more home games, us and GC. I guess announcing it now doubles their chance of chairing him off victorious - and we are likely easier pickings than GC - SUCKERS.
