It would be very difficult to drop anyone after yesterday's game so no changes except for injuries (Tabs?) for me.

Our centre clearances have been a little scratchy over the past few rounds so if we can tighten up there against Nic Fat we should be OK.

And surprise surprise, wet weather forecasted

Starting to miss the days where Perth winters were 70% sunny days.

This constant rain gets you down

If Tabs gets up & Switta & Fyfe get fit I honestly don’t know what they’re going to do in the coming weeks.
No one from yesterday deserves to be dropped.

If Tabs is out for a few then Fyfe could play his role but other than that given his scratchy touch around stoppages where does he fit?

Switta is clearly best 22 but again who can you take out? The team was humming yesterday.
Tucker was creative & instrumental in our forward connections,
Nod is talismanic in his effect on the team in a similar way to Walker. Freddy is our most reliable set shot kicker & regularly gets into dangerous positions around goal.
Walters is not what he was but he’s doing enough & is a leader & coach on the field.
Shultz was brilliant at times yesterday.

The backs are untouchable, the mids group set with Acres & Nod on wings, the forwards did their jobs perfectly.

Good luck selection committee, glad I’m not doing it. Imagine telling Tucker he’s out after the way he got to work to get back in the team & performed yesterday. Similar with Wilson I guess. Kept his head up at Peel, did everything right when he got a chance & still goes out.

I know Fyfe is a big game player but it’s genuinely touch & go for mine if bringing him in for finals (I know I’m getting ahead of myself) is going to improve things given his lack of game time this year.

Interesting times & good problem to have this time of year for a change!

We play better without Fyfe.

Controversial but I think we move the ball faster and look way more dangerous.

I think we shouldn’t get carried away with big calls following a win over the Dogs. They LET you play fast and look good and their defence is atrocious. Fyfe would have looked monstrous up forward that game I think.

Having said that, when he comes back, I think he should basically play exclusively up front unless the midfield needs a mid game shake-up. What the first choice 6/7 looks like with Fyfe up front is another question I suppose

If he wasn't Fyfe we wouldn't be forcing him into the side against the Giants. I'm worried he will disrupt our b22.

I must be watching a different game. Walker’s closing speed and ability to get across and be 3rd man in is second to none. His passing is highly effective but most importantly he takes the game on by running at the opposition. This drags players back to him and creates space forward. (What has been missing the past few weeks against top sides). Occasionally makes a blue holding the ball or odd fumble. In the best 22 by a long way for mine.

Completely agree he’s best 22.
I’ve said for weeks he needs a rest as he’s been tiring. Long season. Need him fresh for finals.

Agree with a lot here. With the right side we're a very tough unit. Things I see as essential:

1. Noddy and Sheriff firing - provide so much run, contested strength and defensive cover. Would've beaten Sydney if Noddy was fit to balance the team out.

2. Aish playing through the middle / tagging. Is a gun in this role, spoils the opposition yet always seems to be in the right position as an outlet. Only happens if (1) allows it.

3. Play with speed. It's our point of difference against most sides, Geelong / Brisbane especially.

4. Darcy needs to get his marking game on. We went ok yesterday because Lobb, Logue and Tabs especially, clunked most of the stuff up the line. In that respect, Fyfe for Tabs makes sense, but we look a million bucks if the big guy is taking them too.

5. Take the game on. We have players that can beat their man, and players that are accurate from outside 50. Loved that about yesterday and early season. Has the benefit of opening the i50 too as the arc has to be covered.

We do that and no one's going to see us as easy pickings. Play conservative and we're toast.

Edit: Also agree with Snuff regards not getting carried away, as the Bullies defense ain't great. Switta for Tucker too. Faster, better footy IQ and pressure also. Tucker a great medi-sub though, very versatile.

Absolutely no resting of players when they get a rest in two weeks anyway. With both being must wins take no chances and keep as much stability in the team that might line up week 1.

Especially no messing around for a derby, we have seen before it's not always the best team who wins, the moment can be a great leveller.

Why are people worried about the rain...West Coast are worse in the wet than we are.
I'm worried about the Eagles bringing a physical game to derail our finals campaign and the more contests there are the more opportunities they will have to put on the hard contact.

This is not true. Fyfe is fine playing quick and is faster at decision making than Tucker. His rusty disposal has let him down but his smarts & impact is still there, people just compare him to peak Fyfe rather than fringe players.

He’s missed a lot of footy, playing catch up is extremely hard but a 70% Fyfe is still better than all of our depth and 15th-22 best players. If playing him gets him to 80-90% by the grand final then he’s in the top 10 players in the team. Get a full preseason and he’s back in our top 5 next year.

Have you watched them this year? Their covid strategy has been to use social distancing during games.

I think for this finals season, a first choice front half could be:

Half Forward: Walters, Logue, Frederick - Frederick and Logue are the fast pressure forwards, with Logue to ruck as required. Walters is there as the sharp shooter.

Full Forward: Taberner, Lobb, Shultz - this is definitely our preferred full forward line anyway.

Forward Rotation: Fyfe or Switowski (whichever is fitter) - both would probably play forward with stints on ball, Fyfe brings marking power to the forward line that could chop out Logue when he goes to ruck whilst Switowski brings defensive power to rotate in for Frederick, Walters or Shultz.

Running with both Fyfe and Switowski to me seems needlessly reckless.
