Technically one of the 4 last year wouldn’t have been there if we hadn’t traded for Gibbs. However in hindsight, 3 1st rounders in 2017 draft and 3 1st rounders in 2018 draft would have been a great outcome in revitalizing the list.
I think we could have gained another 2 first rounders from Jenkins and Lynch alone being moved when their contracts were up and there was interest from other clubs. Add in trading out the likes Douglas, Mackay, Knight 3 years ago which may have given us some 2nd rounders which could have been turned into another first rounder. Fact is the club was asleep at the wheel.

I still wonder how 2017 would have panned out if:
Cotchin got rubbed out for the Grand Final.
Geelong played the Cats in Week 1 of the Finals at Kardinia instead of at the G
If Gov and Smith were both fit to play in the GF.
If Pyke didnt cook the players before the grand final
Cotchin --- never gonna be rubbed out --- concussed the bloke in the first quarter --- GWS didn't need him :rolleyes: but Richmond did for the GF.
Geelong were robbed, for sure. In both cases, it was AFL greed and favoritism. Appalling decisions.

Gov and Smith *sigh* :'(. That really hurt.

Only one thing --- how did Pyke 'cook' them, do you know? I thought the disunity over Leaver was a major factor.

Which is how we are currently ruining Gallucci
How he is not playing this week when we need a pace injection in the team is beyond me.

Showed plenty last year to suggest we should be getting games into.

He needs to play, but at his fitness levels hes only going to play in a pocket.... which is dumb

Gov and Smith hurt us but Pyke could have picked gov. He choose to go with Otten sighting gov wasn't ready. Gov believed he was and this was a major reason why he left.

Hey AmericanCrow , you around mate? :thumbsu::cool:
Happy with the changes? Wanted more?
Suns are 3-1 and not far off being 4-0, all close games. Winning them can really unite and inspire a team.
I'm not sure what the malaise is with the Crows players, but they look dispirited/ going through the motions.

Probably the Tasmania factor meant we went Jones over Butters/Caldwell.

More worrying is that 2015 seems to be the only draft in the last five that we've nailed. We've only got two players from those national drafts in our side tomorrow.

I really like Gallucci and Fogarty but we just aren't ****ing playing them! It's incredibly frustrating.

The pace and pressure is McHenry, Jones, MCAdam, Stengle and Hamill . All in the SANFL . These guys are a year away as they not only kids but built like kids . MCAdam and Stengle need another preseason . Ports kids Rozee and Duursma look bigger than ours . Butters is just a great football brain . We coulda had Butters and Duursma over Jones and McHenry. We will know in a year whom is on top there but def looks like port has trumped us there.
Am going way early, but from what I’ve seen I reckon it will be Rozee > McHenry > Duursma = Jones

Rozee is going to be a top 10 player in the league. Kid is an absolute gun.

Milera confirmed at today's open training session that he is playing mainly half-forward with stints in the midfield.

Poholke in for one game and then dropped (when there were at least half a dozen worse than him).

What sort of message are we sending?

For their career's sake, these young players need to get the hell out. There's no point being loyal if it costs you your playing career. Go to a competently coached club.
