After Bev talking today I think Schache can start planning for next year and see if someone is interested

Shame we will get donuts for him at trade

I dont really care re. Schache.

Would suit a contending side with a proper functioning forward line and foil.

He has had his chances with us.

Seriously, bevo cannot keep gifting gowers chances. He is turnover/momentum killer king.

Looks like that whole forwardline is here to stay. Bev thinks supply is the issue, (which I think it is partly but not wholly) and they just need to learn how to play together. I personally think theres too many medium sized players... we need a bit more zip up there

Hopefully having a scratch match puts a fire cracker up the bum of the guys not performing now that the guys stuck behind them can plead their cases. Having some competition for spots will be good (other then rewarding those training well)

Actually I have a new change to my line-up: JJ out. A statement needs to be made that performances like that will not be tolerated. Regardless if you are experienced or not.

It amazes me how much criticism he avoids, he consistently fails to fire when we need him the most and now he’s one of the maturer players we need him to find some consistency.

The forward line makeup is 80% fine. Bit more pace and pressure would be ideal, but really it’s the lack of aggression and proper setup (secondary ruck) that’s hurting at the moment. Macrae on a wing etc.

Rewatch the GWS elim last year and watch Schaches non competitiveness. He’s not required now when we don’t have the ball on a string like we did 2nd half of 2019.

I'm not having a go at you nor am I trying to say that Gowers doesn't deserve criticism but Naughton had two huge momentum stoppers giving away frees when we had just delivered the ball deep into the 50. I don't think anyone has even mentioned it.

Give me Naughton any day, but my point is we fumbled, made errors and stopped momentum right across the board. It wasn't just Gowers.

Same is true of Bailey Dale. GWS would relish either of them being in the side this week.
If either gets the chance let's hope we seem them redeem themselves.

Nah I get your point.

What gets me is that Gowers does this every week he plays. Whether it be a stupid turnover, a 50m penalty or he misses a simple set shot.

Round 3 --- 2020

B:
Lewis Young, Jack Trengove, Zaine Cordy

HB: Bailey Williams, Alex Keath, Hayden Crozier

C: Will Hayes, Jack Macrae, Ed Richards

HF: Patrick Lipinski, Aaron Naughton, Marcus Bontempelli

F: Mitch Wallis, Josh Bruce, Toby McLean

Foll: Tim English, Josh Dunkley, Bailey Smith

Int: Lin Jong, Matt Suckling, Caleb Daniel, Josh Schache

Lets match GWS

That’s a TALL and slow team lol! Not sure we need Schache then.

Haven’t heard Bevo’s Schache comments but he signed for a few years late last season so we’ll likely be lumped with him a while even if we don’t want him.

We can’t be sure, but it seems that McLean, Cordy, Schache and possibly Libba and others have failed to put their best feet forward after the break. That’s in addition to Hunter doing his worst Peter Brock impression in South Yarra.

It’s very disappointing that, just when we’re looking primed again, some players take the piss. Seems like there’s been a history of it in the club since ‘16 too.

Regarding Schaches non competitiveness in elimination file he wasn't alone he had plenty of mates possibly 21 of them.

Here are our ball ups involvements against the Saints...

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned and that needs to change for R3 is that Macrae attended just 9 centre ball ups for the whole game and none in the first half, in 2019 he averaged 20.

He spent way too much time on the wings last week and we need him in the centre, especially his hands.

I can guarantee you Libba has given everything he can and the only thing holding him back is his knee

He probably did too much over the break aa anyone living around Newport can attest as he was seen out two times a day running

Schache will almost certainly be gone. Pity really, he's no star but I think he's capable of 40+ goals in the right set up. He'd fit the Pies really well I reckon

Cordy needs to be back. Gardner may survive another week unfortunately, as he's reasonably quick and may "suit" the GWS forward line better, even if he makes endless mistakes. Would hope he's out for Trengove.

Sounds like Crozier is managing his loads too - really hope he's not out. Would be disastrous if we went without both Wood and Crozier. Lucky Williams has turned things around this year or we'd be completely stuffed.

When he says no shake up to forward line, hopefully that just means minimal changes rather than no changes. Gowers out for McLean is a pretty simple and straightforward change that doesn't completely shake things up.
Gardner is reasonably quick? Yeah, just like Toby Greene is reasonably charming.

Interesting stats, I find it interesting that we only floated five guys through the middle to be honest. Where do you source these stats from? Or do you do them yourself?

I thought Bevo's response on Schache at today's presser was more a reaction to the question rather than a true appraisal.

There had been a whole heap of questions re specific players, then the Schache question came at the end of the presser.

I thought that it was more a snappy response at the reporter than a dig at Schache.
