In: Henderson,VB, Graham
Out: Porps, Tambling, McKernan

Bomb it long to Graham / Sauce gameplan with shared ruck duties! Anyone or anything instead of McKernan is a win! I have seen a blade of grass in the wind move more than McKernan does.

Was interested to find out how likely Couch and Laird were to play this week, as well as if Kerridge will get another game (Supercoach related). Few people saying Kerridge could be dropped?
Just thought use might be interested to know that Kerridge got one vote in the coaches award.

4 Luke Hodge (Haw)
4 Daniel Talia (Adel)
3 Jarryd Roughead (Haw)

Also, Crows site says Couch out for one more week.

"First-year midfielder Brad Couch, who has missed the past two games with a hamstring strain, is expected to miss one more game."

Cant believe Roughhead got votes, thought Rutten killed him ?
I like Roughy & sometimes think we should go after him in the Free Agent period but I thought he wasn't very good against us.

I checked the Sando interview again. No way was he suggesting that that Kerridge will miss out. It was more a comment on where vB will play. He has been used mainly as a tagger on the oppositions runners. He may be used off half back, as an outside midfielder (watch out DMac) or back to his old role as an inside midfielder on the oppositions best midfielder.

I'd like to see Kerridge in the Petrenko role for the next few weeks and Lyons or Crouch taking the inside midfielder role. The players who should be wondering which shorts to put in the footy bag are Tambling, Porplyzia, Jaensch and Mackay. If we see Johncock or Callinan this week then we will know that the gold pass will never die.

Yes, I would like to see Kerridge & Lyons play those roles for a few weeks too.
Changes V GWS
VB --> Mackay
Laird --> Tambling

In terms of changes with a Crouch still out, VB and Laird as the obvious ins, how about this.

Tambling to shift from half back to half forward replacing Porps, Laird taking his spot and VB taking Wrights place. Tis is tough on Porps, but I would like to see Tambling remained. He clunked an average kick and was poor on a tackle but delivered to beautiful lace out deliveries into the forward 50 and adds speed. We need speed and the above suggestions to drop Mackay and Tambling basically removes any speed from the team and we are slow as it is.

Truck spoke last week about mentioning to Sando that he'd like a rest at stages during the year. I know the guys in great nick but could this be one of those weeks.

Possibly, although Jeremy Cameron is good nick at the moment too! I suppose Talia is probably a better match up with Cameron anyhow?

Question. How fast is Grigg? I honestly don't know much about him, besides his allegedly elite left foot.

No slower then Vince thompson etc.
His problem is with that elite foot he should be an outside reciever but he is build more like an inside player.
Think Luke Hodge

Would be if we had a replacement .....unless we do upgrade Hartigan from the rookie list .....but upgrade for one game only ???, seems dangerous if we get another long term injury?

a bit ....but maybe think more Brent Guerra as a backline player with elite kicking skills

Probably a better one there. Good call
I reckon he kind find himself in Guerra's role ......can you imagine him kicking from defense and hitting midfielders lace out ....powerful weapon

There would be a spot due to Tex wouldnt there ? My thoughts would be to be bring LT in for a game but then again with the injured guys coming back youd loathe to make many other changes

i'm reluctant to be resting anyone this week. we're not playing well enough to have the luxury of resting any players.

i'd be making whatever changes are required to fit players coming back from injury and thats it.

so does that make it

In - VB and Laird
OUt - Tambling and hopefully Porps or Mackay (but i think it'll be Lyons)

Surely Talia, Otten and Luke Thompson could handle the GWS kids?
Keep forgetting about L.Thompson ....wonder why?

And can someone explain why some posters are so keen to upgrade Hartigan but L.T. is rubbish.

L.T. had great form in the SANFL last year, has continued to perform well this year and played quite well in the Prelim in his only match this year. Hartigan's form was mixed in the preseason and has played well but not outstanding for South.

Oooohhhh, a shiny new toy.............................

I would pick LT over Hartigan at the moment, post Truck playing go with the one with best form.

Still thing we miss a Bock type player and I am not sure if LT or Hartigan can fill that role.

LT and Hartigan are different types of players. Thompson is more of a third tall, or perhaps a loose man. Hartigan is a key position defender.

Hartigan's placing on our list was done in the same spirit as the trade for Graham. We had depth (of varying quality) for most positions on our list, but we didn't have a backup "first" ruck, and we didn't have a backup key position defender. At least, not ones that even close to being ready to play. So we used up a terrible pick (ended up costing us literally nothing) on Graham, and spent a rookie pick on Hartigan. In the former case, hopefully we never need to use him. In the latter case, hopefully we don't need to use him this year, and he's also young enough that he may develop into a good AFL player in future seasons.

If Rutten or Talia went down, I really wouldn't like to see Thompson asked to pick up the slack there. Really, there isn't anyone else on our list suitable for it (unless we want to repeat the horror of asking McKernan to play CHB) except for Hartigan.
