Its only one game, but if its a defender you need, Im much happier with Luke Thompson than Andy Otten.

The one thing you can skimp on in AFL is your 2nd and 3rd tall defenders.

We've seen coaches like Roos and Lyon turn some pretty average talls into handy role players.

Luke Thompson and Andy Otten are no Matthew Scarletts admittedly but neither are Grundy, Dawson, Lonergan, Richards...

If i have to explain ......then you don't see the value of a Charlie Cameron ...or a Jared Polec

Yep one play defines a career ......and is the basis of your player comparison

We don't have much to go on with Charlie but one thing he does look like is a slippery customer - very hard to tackle.

Can stick a tackle himself too which is vital in his role.

Thought you were better than that ......but then again iam watching your SC performance ....so it doesn't surprise really

3. He has no body strength

The list of ordinary 2nd/3rd defenders who have had finals success is a long one. We had Caven and Pittman as our key defenders in 1997/98! More recently some average 2nd/3rd talls in finals - Stratton, Lonergan, Dawson, A Johnson, Grundy, Maxwell...

I hope we don't waste money/draft picks in this area of the field.

Fair enough, I don't watch his games, but he seems to have done alright yesterday, currently watching the replay and he has a one on one with Westhoff 25 out and it's Westhoff that goes to ground not LT

No but the general consensus seems to be everytime he comes in he does his job well. What more can you ask. But no doubt he has his deficiencies hence the reasons he's played majority of his footy in the 2s. But for some reason you seem to be harsher on him than any other player.

No no .....equally hard on Jaensch ....and i was most savage on Skipworth who couldn't kick over a jam tin or outrun me

make no mistake any player on an AFL list has talent ..........but what you are building is an AFL list that is better than other clubs

Off course most players can come in and do a role .........in his last few games Tambling showed some very good form you'd agree ....but he still got delisted

Fact is we have to replensih our talls in what is a tall draft .........we can't afford to have too mant talls on our list and LT and L.Johnston whilst both having played good games sporadically ........they are just not up to elite AFL standard
