Butcher has been in reasonable form and kicking goals, the WWT game was his worst imo.

Hammer said on Triple M tonight that his SANFL form does not warrant AFL selection

Haven't been able to make it to and ressies stuff this year.

Has Palmer been playing in the back half and on the ball for the Maggies the last few weeks ??

All of a sudden he's started racking them up ??
From what i have seen, it looks like he is playing forward of center and has kicked a few goals but the way the magpies are playing, it's hard to work out who's playing where.

Amongst others, the club royally buggered up the decision to retain Butch.
I was all for retaining Butch this year, for one last chance at breaking into the power side, so far he has not been rewarded imo, his form has been good and his kicking has been much improved. I don't think he was ever part of our 2016 plans but things went pear shaped with the Ryder thing and then Jay going down.

We need another tall in the side this week. Reason 1. Trengove is trying his best but he gets tired and overwhelmed. Against Nic Nat this will only get worse. 2. This means Westhoff and Dixon will have to do more ruck work to give Trengove a chop out. If Dixon rucks who is our sole key forward? Westhoff (a role we know he can not play). 3. I feel Westhoff will be needed to drop in the hole to help stop the Kennedy/Darling show. 4. Structurally Dixon needs help in the forward line.

Conclusion, either Bobby comes in to sure up the backline and free up Westhoff to go forward, or Butcher comes in to free up Westhoff to go back. Neither has shown much SANFL form but my preference is for Butcher to come in.

Before the start of the season we would of had Dixon, Schulz and Paddy (at times) in our forward 50.
Two of them are not playing for us at the moment.
What have we done to to replace like for like in that department?
Surely it's hurt structure and setup from day dot. We would of trained all off season with that setup.
Bring in another tall in that 50.

Our game plan was built on fast running smalls. The rest of the league has caught up to us fitness wise and we lack a game plan that stands up to pressure. Bring Butcher back in to play as that lead up CHF, we know he's got strong hands. Play Dixon inside 50. That will free up Westhoff to roam both forward and back and also help out Trengove in the ruck. Bring Clurey in for Stewart, Palmer in for Neade and Gray in for Amon.

The more I think about it, I'm so confused with this squad I don't even know who comes up or goes down. Dare I say we are lacking in depth.

Out:
O'Shea
Amon

In:
Carlile
Gray

We are getting killed because our team has been full of fringe players since round 1 or 2, who are crumbling under any sort of pressure.

Young
Neade
Amon
O'Shea
Stewart
Byrne-Jones
Krak
Ah Chee
Sam Gray
Howard
Toumpas

Not saying all of the above have played bad at all, but when you have that many young fringe players you are going to lose most weeks. We can carry 2-3 of them max, but not all. We have been crippled by so many injuries to our experience key players, people seem to be forgetting this.

You put Robbie Gray, Carlile, White, Ryder, Monfries, Schulz and even Lobbe into that team and we beat Carlton by 50+ points. We have also had Trengove out, Hartlett out as well as Chad out for a couple of weeks earlier on.

You take 7 experienced players out of any team, including Hawks / Sydney / Crows etc. they will lose most weeks.

You look at the like for like outs that Hawks would have if they had injuries to the players in the same positions. Sam Mitchell, Josh Gibson, Brad Hill, McEvoy, Roughhead, Puopolo and Ceglar. As well as Frawley, Burgoyne and Rioli out for a couple of weeks here and there. Do you think the Hawks would win more than 4 games so far this year with those outs?
Agree with most of your summary however there is one key aspect missing and that is this...our senior players by and large have been poor with Gray, Pittard the exceptions. It is the senior players responsabilty to support the young ones and possibly fringe players as well.

Lobbe is the biggest.

Look, I know it might be exactly what we are doing now, but we couldn't have gone into the season with only Ryder as a recognised ruckman, particularly with the ban potentially on the horizon. We had to keep Lobbe. We had to back him in to come good. Obviously he didn't, but back then we had to take the punt.

Recruit an extra ruck instead of giving Butcher another year and not play him despite our lack of depth?

I reckon we'll go with Robbie in for Amon. That is a genuine in.

Don't see us shuffling fringes (Toumpas, S.Gray, Hoon) or bringing in a tall (Doogie, Butch) for structure.

Bobby Carlile sure as hell won't play. Clurey is a bigger chance, but I still don't think it will happen.

We are such a rabble atm we would welcome being flat track bullies - we can't even guarantee a win at home.[/QUOTE]
Yeah I dont think it will be a comfortable win the fact is our form away from home has been woeful no sugarcoating it really. At the end of the day what other teams do should not be our focus if we want to win a flag we must win everywhere. Hoping for a good contest sat

We will help make you look like Premiership favourites. But let's be honest your recruitment has been outstanding you actually recruit and play big bodied forwards who can clunk marks and are not afraid to kick goals. We have one big forward that is triple teamed each week and some crumbers who don't stay down to crumb and are too afraid to miss so handball off to stationary players who aren't expecting it. So sad when we can see what our play is and it wouldn't wash in u/9s.

Trust me we will get belted. Why?
- mcgovern will break the intercept marks record. Taylor creamed us, teams with a third tall in defence we dont match up on i.e bring another tall in to keep them busy. Schofield to hoff mackenzie to dixon or other way around your already sorted
- priddis 40disp 10+ clearences. Natanui will deliver premium service and our mids are b grade apart from gray
- darling will be too strong for whoever we put on him probably jonas or oshea who both are better suited to intercept play. Carlile wont play hombsch will get kennedy and byrne jones will get lycett just because #farken

I wonder if all those clubs who refused our top ups are having a good old s****** right now. I can only hope for karma one day.
