Prediction Changes v Whoever The **** It Is After The Bye

I'm not sure we beat their midfield that day. They won clearances, contested possessions and inside 50s despite Cox giving the mids an armchair ride (60 hitouts to 33).

Fair enough. I actually saw Hutch run GAblett down as he crossed the forward 50 in that game, stopping a certain goal, and thats the kind of thing we wont see with Priddis, Redden, Mitchell, Sheed in the team so we need to mix up the pace abit imo. Happy for Mitch and Sheed to stay but Priddis, Redden are better off out at the moment.

Some of my very first posts here stressed that Darling was a much better player facing the goals. I still think that is the case.

Kennedy
Vardy
Darling
Lycett
Naitanui
McGovern
Barrass

7 talls, is it too many? With our current midfield group and dearth of crumbing smalls I would say yes. If we can get a bit more pace in the midfield and some better ground level players around the feet of our tall perhaps not.

Vardy to play true CHF and Darling 3rd tall. Would need Darling to shed a little bulk to ensure he is mobile enough to run the HFF-wing when there is a resting ruckman forward. Vardy should be able to play as a very mobile CHF with a year of rucking building his tank.

B: Sheppard Barrass Hurn
HB: Nelson McGovern Yeo
C: Jetta Sheed Gaff
HF: Mutimer Vardy Darling
FF: Cripps JJK Rioli
R: Naitanui Shuey Mitchell

I: Lycett, Duggan, Wellingham, Partington/Magikarp/Venables

Depth: Hill, Hutchings, Cole, Schofield, Redden, McInnes

Mutimer, Nelson, Yeo and Cripps all able to run through the middle and three of them hopefully at the coalface. Even 2-3 minutes a quarter from these guys would make a massive difference to the workload of the core midfielders.

Probably the wrong thread but I've written now

Vardy can't take a mark reliably so not good at CHF. OK maybe develop McInnes.

this won't be popular but If Gaff isn't 100% fit come thursdasy week, i'd be inclined to give him an extended rest and Bring Masten. Masto's link up work prior to his dud fortnight was actually decent. he is the only one in the side that can play a similair role to Gaff and might actually play better than he usually does.
Let's continue to reward rubbish senior players with mediocre form. **** that. Don't go crying we need to play the youth if you want this spud in. Karpany can play on the wing.

Read my last reply to eagleboy. Darling doesn't have the agility or ability to compete at ground level to justify us having so many talls. The only way it's possible is having darling playing as hff/wingmen and pushing up the ground but MC and simmo are very conservative about it. I remember him doing very well in a nab game last year when he was allowed to roam around the ground.
Darling isn't viable anymore. He needs to go back and dominate WAFL. He's ****ing lucky some spud forgot to keep McInnes on the senior list.

I think he'd play better as the main inside mid but is still shit regardless, yes.
No one midfielder should be considered the "main guy" this has been the main detriment to our team having Priddis as our main guy. It's not a dig at him but at how one dimensional we've been. We need 5-6 players that can play inside and outside. That oppo teams don't know where we're going.

I agree.

OK let's look at options. How about Schofield at CHF. He is mobile can take a mark and can kick.Is he a better option than McInnes? Darling on the flank where he could be very useful.

McInnes was upgraded onto the main list a couple of days ago.

Apparently you can upgrade one player after the bye without linking him to a long term injury, so now that Lycett is back, that's how we've elected to have Fraser available for senior selection.

Having a second crack. Kind of a combo of what I want and what I expect.

Out: LeCras, Duggan, Hutchings
MacKenzie
In: McInnes, Masten, Partington, Wellingham

B: Wellingham Schofield Nelson
HB: Hurn McGovern Sheppard
C: Gaff Mitchell Jetta
HF: Masten Darling Yeo
F: Cripps Petrie McInnes
R: Vardy Shuey Sheed
I: Butler Priddis Partington Hill
E: MacKenzie Hutchings Redden

The changes:
- McInnes for LeCras serves several purposes: It allows us to play Petrie as our FF in the absence of Kennedy (who I'm assuming will need another week, as will Lycett, and I'd prefer we didn't rush them back), as I think we desperately missed a marking target up forward last week. It also allows us to cast LeCras as the senior scapegoat for the latest loss, a role recently held by Masten and Redden.

- Masten (or Redden) for Duggan is going to happen, you know it is. Duggan is probably due for a spell to be honest. Redden is a possibility as he has the better game for East Perth but i think that makes us less balanced.

- Partington for Hutchings. Please make this happen. We desperately need some new blood to get irrationally excited about and Parto has been banging down the door for weeks.

- Wellingham for MacKenzie. Nothing against Eric but I thought we were too tall down back and Schoey is probably slightly
ahead of him. Barrass should be ahead of both of them within a fortnight.

Priddis won't be dropped the week after signing a new deal, or even rested with "soreness". That'd just lead to awkward questions the club won't want to deal with.

No. Darling to EP for minimum 2-3 weeks. The campaigner needs to wake up and realise AFL isn't a ****ing walk in the park. His fall from grace is nearly as big as Rhys Palmers minus the injuries.

I would not play darling at CHF ever again. Develop McInnes as CHF. Don't know what to do with Darling. Both he and Lecras have been seriously underperforming. At least one will play.

It is maybe a symptom of our weak midfield that we allow Lecras one of most efficient goal kickers to get beat up playing midfield time. Stop that, he is a smallish forward.

Maybe our MC should all be fired and BF posters hired or at least consulted.

Darling should be played as the 3rd tall which is where he has played his best football.

If LeCras is a true small forward he'd be applying forward pressure. Can't carry guys who don't apply manic pressure and call themselves small forwards.

My memory is a bit "rusty" so can anybody enlighten me if Le Cras back at his peak (like the day he kicked 12 goals against Essendon) applied pressure and played the small forward position how it should be played?

The game has changed since then and Le Cras no longer gets away with his lack of defensive pressure because the bags of goals have dried up.

I don't care about what any player did in 2016, let alone 2010. That's seven years ago, we're focused on 2017 and beyond. There's no room for sentiment in footy and the Eagles front office have way too many feelings.

That wasn't the reason for my question - I don't care how few or how many years ago it was - I was just trying to refresh my memory, that's all!! Keep a lid on it

So darling child was born on Friday before the game prematurely. Could there be a possibility he takes a week or two off? There's things in life that's way bigger than footy and you wouldn't blame him if he does.

This attitude is why WCE are so soft soft mumma's boys just saying ..

A few hours training and a weekend game Jack would still be around and could still be available for emergency calls ,why does he need to be with wife 24 hrs of the day ..
