These selections tell me that there is a bit of a struggle amongst the MC over their favourites and what Simmo would like to do. I see this as Simmo just trying to put some youth into the team and being told on who he can & cant drop. As others have said his endorsement of "he's had a great career" (if that is exactly how he put it) isn't a ringing endorsement. It sounds like "I cant say anything negative so I will pull a positive out of somewhere".

Like Partington and who else?

I said before, Redden, Masten, Duggan, Jetta, Hutchings and even Sheed have been at East Perth at various times this season so it's not like there's been no midfield changes at all.

It'd be great to see Venables or Partington in there but Venables has been gradually building up fitness after no preseason and now he's injured. I don't know who else is going to come in and make a difference.

Which means all this angst is basically because Partington hasn't been picked. And the vast majority of people complaining have probably seen him play once on the telly.

Massive generalization there man...

What is obvious though, is that Partington was obviously not invited to Simmo's birthday party.

Worse, he was and didn't RSVP. Simmo catered for him just in case and a plate of food was wasted. Simmo was livid I heard.

We were lacking goals last week.i know let's drop the fwd that kicked our most goals......
The same forward who completely got us back within distance of getting us over the line in that game.

Meanwhile .. Sexy Mark hasn't kicked a goal since round 7.

It's not the fact that we think Partington is the answer to our midfield prayers. It is the fact that we are sick of the same ******* shit with our senior players and want something done about it. You've been here long enough to figure that out, havent you?

I've been here long enough to realize that no matter what the changes are each week people will be unhappy with them.

People wanted senior players dropped and youth brought in but are unhappy becaus the wrong senior players were dropped and the wrong youngsters brought in.

People don't want to see the same midfielders like Masten and Redden rotated through each week but are unhappy because no midfielders were changed, when there's basically only one other midfielder that would currently be under consideration.

It was actually "he's had a great career and still has bags and BOG performances ahead him".

Defs has a "I would like to play 3 rucks as I am keen to see how that plays out" feel to it. It has to be a stand. Our old club v where Simmo wants to go is happening at that table, played out right in front of us.

I think I am hoping it is that otherwise the people that sit around that table are rolling dice and gambling on who's name comes up. And if someone not in the team plays well at East Perth that doest mean anything other than they get an extra name in the game and their potential selection rises. This of course is offset by the incumbent getting another name in the game by playing each game in a row. it is now impossible to get Lecras or Priddis out of the team due to this...Perhaps thats it.

People wanted those changes because it'd be an acknowledgement from the club of what the actual problems are rather then the delusion they still seem to be under.

Priddis still in the team @ round 13... he'll find form eventually right?:rolleyes:

Scott Thompson has played in the SANFL for the entire season because Matt Crouch had overtaken him, we're in a similar situation with Dom Sheed & Matt priddis. Yet what do we do? lets play the least flexible player in our squad in the forward line instead of dropping him. Oh a midfielder just kicked 3 goals on the weekend in the 2's looming as an easy replacement for an underperforming 32 year old? better bring in 2 more defenders into the team....

It just boggles the mind.
