what if cey has a bog on saturday night?
Worked out very well for Shooter. If he was rested after his shocker against the pussycats he would of been feeling very down about himself. Now he gets to freshen up and look forward to going home in great form and feeling good about fronting up against the dockers.Pods was asked about resting more players next week and he said there wouldn't be more resting as no one else needed it.
Also said they've been trying to time the McGovern rest for the last month. In a way it was good timing that Tex copped the ankle, otherwise Gov would have been gone after Geelong and after that performance it would have been seen as being dropped.
It also allowed Pyke to show faith in him and allowed Gov to respond which he did. Now he gets a rest and will be back against Freo, there is no chance we won't play him in his home state. Craig would have but not Don.
West AdelaideSee ..what i like is that you backup your POV with a rationale argument ......the counter argument is ....."he's shit" ....what does that say, everythingGotta love this attitude.
DABM (and others) have a stereotype which says that DMac is constantly ragdolled and incapable of laying a tackle. Stats, as recorded by Champion Data, reveal that he's actually one of the most prolific tacklers at the club. With 4.2 tackles per game, he actually has 7th highest average for tackles per game all season. The 4 tackles he laid against Essendon makes him equal 5th highest for that game. This directly contradicts the stereotype.
Solution: Don't at any costs admit that you're wrong, and that the stereotype is incorrect. Instead, change the definition of a tackle, to something you find more palatable and which (you hope) would result in Dmac having a lower tackle count, thus allowing you to argue that your (completely bogus) stereotype is actually correct.
Good grief.. What a load of bollocks.

Imo, Douglas may get managed next week.Ill get in early...
Changes v Freo:
In:
McGovern, Thompson, (Jacobs if fit)
Out:
CEY, whoever plays worse out of Mackay or Seed, (ROB if Jacobs fit)
West AdelaideGreat that the club rested McGovern after a "high" game, rather than the previous "Low" game ......He'll now have the week off, probably travelling with the team, feeling great about himself and his security in the teamWas needing a bodily rest but had to grin and bear it when Tex went down. Good thing to rest after kicking 4 though, straight back in V Freo. Oh well Wayne's-World , my outside the square call if Tex returned (Dougie out) was a bit off. But my strong commitment to Seed and Dmac playing has come to fruition.
West AdelaideThey're not like for like but they can feasibly be shuffled into the team instead of him.
I don't like the experience argument, I think this is a very dangerous assumption to make. Mackay was, without doubt, a liability in the Hawks semi final last year. Absolutely no doubt. If someone like Milera had been there instead, would we have lost structure - yes I know he wasn't on our list yet but you see my point.
Experience isn't intrinsically a good thing. It is normally a good thing because usually only good players keep getting games. Average ones get left behind. So experience isn't the reason Mackay got all these games.
Well this post is interesting, you said the other day I had nothing interesting to say ever and yet this post pretty much repeats what I posted earlier.Great that the club rested McGovern after a "high" game, rather than the previous "Low" game ......He'll now have the week off, probably travelling with the team, feeling great about himself and his security in the team![]()
West AdelaideThat's utter rubbish .....most tackling nowdays is press related in forward 50 ....and defenders have always been higher tacklers ......twisting things because you don't like the results7th highest for tackles is shit.
The highest tacklers are basically all midfielders, and Mackay is a mid, so he'd be behind 6 other midfielders at tackling: practically the entire midfield.
He's also third highest for pressure acts. So this indicates his pressure doesn't usually translate into tackles, unlike our other players.
West AdelaideYou do realize a game lasts longer than 15 seconds ......100 minutes last i heardMaybe we're wrong and the player knocked over by the football and brutalised by 70kg schoolkid Darcy Parish actually lays bone crunching tackles when we're not watching
West AdelaideHawthorn focusses on pressure acts to force turnovers from which they launch counter attacks .......why that over tackles, i can only assume it's because tackles often don't stop chains of play or force as many turnoversSo how would you explain the discrepancy between his average tackles and average pressure acts? Surely someone who applies a lot of pressure would also tackle a lot
All the way to Adelaide??Great that the club rested McGovern after a "high" game, rather than the previous "Low" game ......He'll now have the week off, probably travelling with the team, feeling great about himself and his security in the team![]()

Would hope for his sake it was pre-game.
West AdelaideGreat counter argument to a well thought out post .......how many seconds did you think about this response ........word-smithing at its bestNice post.
Wrong, but a nice post.
West AdelaideIn other words ....you haven't a clue what's going onI do find it interesting that Macaky's pressure acts are high, so I actually looked up what a pressure act is. Apparently it's one of these things:
I imagine Mackay rates highly for coralling, closing, chasing and non-tackle physical contact. In fact he would have to, as that would explain the low tackle count relative to his pressure act count. Same with Douglas.
- Corralling (Opponent in the area, but only guarding space, not closing in)
- Closing (Opponent in the area and approaching the ball-carrier)
- Chasing (Opponent closing in from behind or forcing a player on the run to kick without steadying)
- Physical contact on a player that's not a tackle
- Actual tackles
- Smothers
I also discovered that contested possessions (usually a measure of how "outside" a player is) don't correspond well to pressure acts. There is no indication a player with fewer contested possessions will have fewer pressure acts. The correlation is better for tackles, but not great either.

Alright, focus on last year's semi final instead. You do realize a game lasts longer than 15 seconds ......100 minutes last i heard
How about stop focussing on one play that i can offer a rebuttal of another 20 similar incidents in the game you've chosen not to talk about in your bias
You're carrying on like a kid
Do you have anything to backup your claim that defenders have always been higher tacklers? That's utter rubbish .....most tackling nowdays is press related in forward 50 ....and defenders have always been higher tacklers ......twisting things because you don't like the results
You're high on stats ......backup your argument
West AdelaideFlat out WRONG !This is bullshit on both counts.
Seedsman needed gametime coming back from injury thats why dmac was the travelling emergency no pecking order can be read into that.
Seedsman played a much better game against Essendon - Mackay made a woeful contribution.
Your pecking order rubbish has been wrong every game so far this year cant see you getting it right this time![]()
Hang on, you've just bagged KE for giving little thought to a response and the very next post you come up with this?In other words ....you haven't a clue what's going on![]()

West AdelaideNo he hasn't .....keep up pleaseUm what Smith has been a defender all year. Try tuning in mate.
West AdelaideWhen you've repeated your position and rationale umpteen times ......do you want me to keep posting the same response over and over again ?Hang on, you've just bagged KE for giving little thought to a response and the very next post you come up with this?
Can't have it both ways![]()
Drugs Are Bad Mackay? is personal sniping okay tonight? In other words ....you haven't a clue what's going on![]()
Oh really where has Smith been playing? Next minute you will be telling me Douglas has been playing in the midfield. No he hasn't .....keep up please
