Out: Dale (Rested - seeing that they managed R.Smith last week he'd be well due)
In: Either Honey or Daniel, but wouldn't surprise me if it were Hrovat, even though he only played one good quarter.

Some of our best wins in recent years have been against the Blues however.
2011 (when they were actually a good side) and 2013 come to mind.

In: Daniel, Honeychurch (sub)
Out: Webb, Dale

Morris coming back into the side has made it hard for Webb to find a spot in defence. Like most here, I think Daniel deserves a shot and would provide better team balance.
Dale keeps showing enough and deserves to stay in but purely because of not wanting him to be forced into sub duties again, I would bring Honey back as sub.

I want to see what Roughy can do at first ruck. Moreso I want to see what the team can do with an extra mid at the stoppage. I think we need it. We all know Roughy's versatility around the ground and I think he can play Ayce Cordy's previous lone ruck role 10 times better than what Cordy could do. I would bring in one of Hrovat, Daniel or Honeychurch for Minno and have Toyd pinch hit in the ruck when required.

We will be troubled by Carlton as they seem to be playing the exact style of gameplan that worries us. That is, man on man pressure through the ground. The same way that the Saints troubled us, and the same way that Melbourne beat us. Pressure. The good sides at the top of the table can absorb this pressure, they make good quick decisions in traffic to find an open man. We've shown signs of it at times but the games against the Saints and Melbourne show that we are prone to coughing up or losing contested ball.

This is not how we want to play.

I think we should be trying to engineer the free man at the stoppage to receive or stop opposition clearance. I would back Roughy in to at least halve the contest and I like the extra man at the stoppage to shark or contest the hit outs we dont win.

The best games we played were our first few. Harass the opposition into turn over with pressure. And blitzkrieg run and gun. Our link up play has been non existent recently and I dont count our win against Brisbane whom just gave up the ghost. As soon as we get the ball we seem to be bombing it in long...and quick. I'm not a fan of this and we are lucky Fisher wasn't playing for Saints last week.

Run & Gun Dogs. Run & Gun. And the first step to this is unfortunately the omission of Big Will.

We will win this by 122 points..............

We have had some beltings by Carlton over the years. They have scores of 30 goals 21 and 29.11 and 26.15 against us with winning margins like 139 and 98 points.

We have only once beaten Carlton by more than 10 goals and that was by 68 points in 2010. We have never beaten them by 100 points.

So to beat them by 122 points would be special, and I'm all for it!

No idea which way to go with this, I really want an inform Jongy back in the midfield, offered us so much early in the year but obviously not ready. Want Honey back, want an in form Crammers, want to see Daniel.

Either way we go I'll be happy enough to be honest so many good options to come in. Just want to see us get back to our early season form and play some exhilarating footy again.

I have a bad feeling about this one.

I don't like being a pessimist and I hope to God I am wrong. If we don't improve from last week's effort, we won't be so lucky to escape with the four points again.

My prediction at the start of the year is that we will run out of legs in the second half of the year. I hope last week wasn't the beginning of that prediction. In fact, I hope that prediction never begins.

Think this is a big part of the problem. Since the early games we've lost that hard lockin forward in Honeychurch and Jong was very influential in contested ball and speed as well. We really miss them for mine through the mid forward line. Sooner we see both back in form and in the 1's the happier I will be. We won the saints game through our backline. Can't expect 6 - 8 players to consistemtly hold us together to get over the line. Slightly harsh but not by much.

There doesn't need to be to much focus on Carlton this week. If the pressure is decent and the team actually take the game on, the rest will take care of itself. In the Melbourne game and game on Saturday they've been scrappy and closed in games which brings a less talented team into the contest, if it becomes a shoutout Carlton are no chance.

Reckon your midfield is the key to beating us this week. If you guys are playing at your best, the pressure and ball movement will be too much for us to handle, particularly if we lose Docherty who has been an important part of our backline. Stringer will be a tough matchup for us because if White can't keep him quiet, we will probably have to shift Tuohy on to him which really hurts our drive out of D50 - one of our biggest issues all year that has finally started to come good.

If we can match you guys in the middle and get some quality ball use going forward, that's when our forwards might be a bit too strong. Casboult is the best mark in the comp and Everitt and Henderson have really started to hit form. Their output really depends on whether we can get the ball to them though!

Really looking forward to this match. Best of luck and no injuries :thumbsu:

I think this will be a really attacking good game of footy and I think the real highlight will be the attacking small defenders each team plays.

I was thoroughly annoyed when you guys trumped us for Docherty (for good reason as he is going to be a beauty/already is in my opinion). Hopefully he plays and we see Yarran, Docherty, Tuohy and Simpson vs Murphy, Wood, Boyd and Johannisen. Some real nice rebounders both teams have so it will be interesting to see how that plays out.

I probably think we have the advantage in the middle due to a couple of injuries and suspensions you guys have. Cripps we all know is going to be a gun, Murphy has become a better player because of Cripps but probably from their is where it drops off. Our depth in the middle is pretty big currently even without Libba. Bontempelli, Wallis, Dahlhaus, Picken, Macrae and Stevens is a very handy inside midfield brigade.

Stringer is probably another big issue for you guys. KPF size but with a small forward bag of tricks makes him such a hard matchup. He wasn't at his best on the weekend but St Kilda specifically put a spare man in front of him to cut his space off. White or Jamison probably his opponents. You wouldn't want tuohy played on him particularly as we like to isolate Stringer deep.

We too need to be aware of Casboult and Henderson too, big improvement in form for those blokes since Barker took over and our backline can look undersized on occasion so its important Easton Wood does his thing and chops of attacking forays.

Hope for a good attacking brand of footy.

Yep can definitely agree here - our midfield lacks 'star' names when you take out Judd and Gibbs, but the rest who line up aren't horrible. With Kreuzer, Cripps, Murphy, Carrazzo, Bell, Graham, Curnow and now maybe Boekhorst / Holman in there, we have a good mix of run and grunt happening. The young guys are playing above their station too, which is great for confidence levels. Reckon we will take it up to you guys but might get done for class and speed in the end.

Carltons midfield clearances have been 142 - 119 in the past three weeks.
Western Bulldogs have been................ 126 - 119 in the same period.

Getting first hands on the ball isn't too tricky but we need Yarran, Murphy and co to take the receives...............What boards is this? How did I get here?

You are always welcome on here Harker - you love footy and your club and seem to always respect others. Post here any time you like - hell, buy a Bulldogs membership while your at it.... http://membership.westernbulldogs.com.au/

Redpath could provide a little more structure and looked to be marking it well in the VFL. Provides an option if Toyd goes into the middle.

In: Redpath, Daniel
Out: Minson :(, Dale

I'm not really too fussed about winning or losing clearances this year. Opposition clearances often play into our hands if they are rushed given our counter attack setup from half back.

Can you guys afford to drop Minson? Kreuzer and Wood are both likely to be named and if Wood comes out of the team because we reckon Kreuzer is fit enough now, Casboult is a more than capable second ruck too. I don't really know your ruck stocks that well.

Roughead is the main backup to Minson. T.Boyd will also spend some time in the ruck, but it's obviously not his favoured position.

Cordy's been solid in the VFL lately, but probably won't get called up. Campbell hasn't looked like playing a senior game this year.
