Nah, I meant who is the lesser player who could have done the job instead of Basti. Turns out it hasn't been asked, so suggestions please ...

Not sure about the changes this week. Anthony's squibbing to me is actual less of an issue than his disposal. At least twice on the weekend I saw him kick over a leading player's head (Spitta in one instance who looked distinctly unimpressed) when I would have expected him to hit him on the tit or at least put it in front of him FFS.

I dunno, I've tended to err on the side of keeping him in because he does get a lot of the ball and do his job for the most part, but I'm starting to think he just doesn't do it well enough.

Pedersen has to go, he needed to claim his spot and he didn't. Goldy in.

Want to see Hansen at CHB, but not sure who makes way.

Tarrant, we've come this far, we need to give him 3 more games at least. He needs to be assured of his spot for a spell and take his opportunity at least once. So far, no dice, but I do think he was marginally better on the weekend.

Shit, I dunno. Really it should be Tarrant for Hansen, but as above I think we've come this far we need to give him a set run of games and see what he does. So maybe Mullett out, Harper/JMac to sub and Hansen in.

In: Hansen, Goldy
Out: Mullett, Pedersen

CharlieM, drop Pedo before Taz? Really?

Pedo's mark and goal he created in the last quarter looked good to me, and otherwise he wasn't too bad on Sunday.....when forwards weren't in the play due to our style, and backs were under heaps of pressure.

My God, anyone justifying keeping Tazz over Pedo............my god.

Pedo did more in his one game than Tazz has done this year. That's not an exageration either, that's for real.

TAZZ IS NOT AND NEVER WILL BE UP TO AFL STANDARD

Tazz Out

Goldy In

That is all.

I hate to piss on your rug Lebowski, but that's just like, your opinion man.

Pedo lived up to his name on the weekend by being extremely inconspicuous for the majority of the game, and when the Eagles started to let their defences down he got a few touches.

I will forgive your insolence as you have quoted the greatest movie of all time.

But

  1. That was Pedo's first game since round 22 (or 23?) last year - what was Tarrant's excuse.
  2. He still did more than Tazz has all year so i don't see what the point of your comment is, yeah, he wasn't great, but Tazz was sh!t as usual, so we are arguing over degrees of sh!tness (of which Tazz wins comfortably).
Obviously, you're not a golfer.

at least he actually got a few touches and kicked a goal.... First game back into the side in which our leading goal kicker did nothing either bc of the changed game plan. If your harsh on Pedo than need to be extra harsh on Tarrant considering he played against GC and WC as a key position.

I know, I know. I just think, christ, Tazza is not supposed to be a depth player who comes up and down as form and injury of other blokes require, and now he's in the 1s we've got to give him a fair crack. The most games he's ever strung together are 3, in rounds 18-20 last year.

Personally, I'd have preferred him to show his chops in the VFL before playing a single game this year, but now that he's in the team, let's give him 5 weeks. If he's shown nothing after that he can go back to the VFL until he busts the door down Benny Warren style.

Pedo was OK on the weekend, but to me he is exactly that depth player who comes in as form and injuries require, and unless he grabs the game with both hands he goes back for Goldy or Hansen.

Our Pederast friend, lets call him Jesus, had a handful more touches playing ruck, half back and forward and got junk time shots on goal. Meanwhile Taz in his second full game for the year admittedly did not have a good day. Maybe having an overwhelmed midfield bombing the ball forward while he had Darren Glass on his back had something to do with that? Dish struggled as did Edwards. See a theme here?

See, Taz's game against GC was actually quite productive being involved in more scoring opportunities than 90% of the team and dragging his opponents (Bock/Brennan) up the ground and away from the forward 50 quite regularly. Whilst not great, he was serviceable and if he had kicked straighter at goal (one poster and one Petrie-esque shank) would have been in the best handful on the day. But hey, that's just my opinion man.

Easier to get touches playing on the back flank, in the ruck and as a forward than in a dysfunctional forward line all day and playing on Darren Glass. I'm not denying that Taz got beaten, but Pedo wasn't much chop either and should have done better considering the roles he played. That's my point.

People on here have targets and pets and fail to take other factors into consideration when either defending or attacking the players in question. I'd like to see Taz succeed but he should probably go out this week. As should Pedo.

And this first game of the year crap. Should he have played even better against WCE in round one last year then considering that was his first game of the year?

It aint my crap its others making excuses that Tarrant should be given time, same theory with Pedo.... Most players will tell you that it is much harder to play all over the ground, compared to having one position. They both performed poorly, no excuses either way, but in my opinion Pedo has shown a lot more compared to Tarrant especially where Pedo has come from (rookie) compared to a top 10 pick.

As much as I tried to see his game against GC in a positive light, I just can't do so.

There was so much ball coming into the area, so much space in our forward line, that not to kick a goal in that game was harder than to actually score, if you played in the forward line for enough minutes, which Robbie did.

He just doesn't attack the ball with the right intensity, has agility issues when it hits the ground, and decision making isn't a huge strength of his either. What does that tell you?

You can argue that he has only played 10 games (or whatever it is), but can you then provide any examples of his dominant games in the VFL?

Question: Which North Melbourne players have taken more contested marks than Tarrant this year?

Answer: Anyone who has taken 1.

Bring back the Moe Man!! If he can clunk a few I'd be rapt and if he has a shocker, it'll take the heat off the rest of the side. All the Hansen bashers are clearly lost and rudderless at the moment...

Genuinely think we need Hansen back in our team for marking power. Back, forward or both. For all the sh*t he's copped on here over the last few years, he, like Thomas has at least appeared dangerous regularly and caused matchup issues.

I'm a fan of giving Tarrant a run, for better or worse and think all we can realistically expect from him over this season is some promise however I'd have Lachie in the team any day at the moment if it was a choice between the two.

I am almost speechless that there is an opinion that Taz did better than Ped on the weekend, or could "have been in the best handful on the day if kicked straighter".

Am I watching a different NMFC?

To be fair the "if kicked straighter" comment related to the GC game.

Personally, Pedo did better but was still very ordinary.

Apologies, thanks CharlieM :thumbsu:

Still dont think Pedo was that bad though - anyway, as per Anthony etc everyone has an opinion.

Does anyone else think it is a coincidence that Petrie is performing poorly with Tarrant in the side?

I'm all for pissing Tarrant off, just so he can get out of Drew's space.

Damining stats that a key forward has not taken a contested mark or kicked a goal. All he is doing is helping the oppositions zone by clogging up space.

No.

Tarrant hasn't played every game. Petrie has been poor in (pretty much) every game.

Hamish is the factor. I'm certain of it.
