I never know if something is tongue in cheek with you or what is going on
Sorry to be mysterious. In the 3rd quarter against Sturt last week Young dominated in the centre to allow the Maggies to pull away. I actually thought he was Trengove-like then. Weirdly this opportunity has come up.

But Young... in Trengove's role... at CHB?

Port Adelaide forward John Butcher in the frame to face Essendon on Saturday
PORT Adelaide’s selection headaches for this Saturday’s game against Essendon aren’t limited to the backline — the Power must also consider how its forward line operates when Justin Westhoff goes into the ruck.

Defensive duo Alipate Carlile (hamstring) and Jackson Trengove (ankle) were yesterday ruled out because of the injuries they suffered in a 23-point Showdown loss to the Crows.
But the key discussion at match committee today could be whether to recall key forward John Butcher to supplement a forward line that will lose Westhoff to back-up ruck duties because of Trengove’s absence.

Why Mitchell out? He worked his arse off last week, unlike a number of his team-mates. And why O'Shea in? Hardly setting the world on fire in the SANFL.
oshea has to come in along with clurey with carlile and trengove out, osheas form has been ok, will slot straight in no worries back at afl level.

All I read was "could be"....nothing I have seen that I havent read on bigfooty

We need someone to replace hoff I hope either one of butch or shaw get a go

Be good to see Cam back in was outstanding last year and Tom had a great pre-season and realistically would have loved to have given mason his debut this week .
Out Jacko Bob S.Gray
In Tom Cam Butcher

Would love to bring in young for mitch also

if you read the article quotes from Phil Walsh

on Shaw
.....but Walsh believes it’s still “a little bit early” to hand the 20 year old an AFL debut....

on whether Butcher plays
....“That’s the question. If we use Westhoff in the ruck do we need another tall? That’s probably the debate,”....

so in other words Shaw won't play. Butcher will if the match committee think we need to replace Westhoff who replaces Trengove in the ruck instead of replacing just Trengove in defence.

Very nervous about this game now. I've got no doubt they'll bring Bellchambers back in for his yearly best game of the season against us.

That means we'll be facing 198cm Carlisle, 201cm Daniher & 202cm Bellchambers with 193cm Hombsch, 193cm Clurey & 188cm Jonas. Pittard, Broady & (you'd assume) O'Shea will have to be at their chopping off best on Saturday.

I too am nervous. But IMO, it would be risky to go too tall in a night game in the middle of winter where you would expect slippery conditions. Not sure if I am on the money with these thoughts, but I would expect the ball to be on the deck a fair bit more than usual.

hopefully then a bit wet and dewy.

Out: Jacko, Bobby, S.Gray & Mitchell.
In: Clurey, O'Shea, Shaw & Newton.
Need Shaw for a tall target when Hoff in ruck or down back & when Schulz leads up the ground. O'shea gives Ken the option to give Impey a run up forward, reckon he might surprise. Young deserves to come in, but Newton has been in great form.

Hmmm - reading Walsh's quotes, perhaps Mason isn't ready to cover the distance an AFL match requires?

We must have been the most unsettled 'top' team in a long time. Luck we don't get any injuries...

As big a loss as our twin towers are they've still been a little vulnerable in the middle without Watson which is the area we should look to get ascendency in. Though saying that if Hartlett, Wingard & Ebert don't rock up again we'll be up against it, I don't think they'll have two off weeks in a row especially in front of a packed Portress.

In a way I think bringing S Gray in has hindered Wingard's impact up forward, in the Dogs game he had to move into the midfield to shake the Picken tag after a so so first half playing forward. It's getting to the stage where we've got one too many smalls & it's stuffed our forward structure.

Hopefully the coaches do opt to bring in a tall forward even if it is Butcher as we're going to need it to not only to give Jay some help to cover the Hoff but to keep Hooker from playing loose or Hurley from going up forward to stretch our backline with Carlisle, Daniher, Ryder & Bellchambers.

Our key defenders always go into games giving away height to their opponents. We're not a tall side. Even when Franklin kicked 5 on Carlile it had little to do with any height mismatch. We'll cope.

Hawthorn have had plenty of injuries this year as well, and last year they only had 3 players that played every game.

Just means we'll bomb it aimlessly and you'll go coast to coast for a bunch of goals.
