Don't think there'll be changes other than the forced ones.
Morris - Webb
Roughead - Toyd ( Minson to do 80% ruck)
McClean - Hrovat
Honeychurch for sub.
Not sure about Crameri. Think we'd be too top heavy with all those bigs up forward but we do need more goal kickers in the team.

Think we'll drop this game. Ablett is a freak and Bev probably won't tag him. Bennell will probably be back as well. Our midfield couldn't capitalise on a pretty weak midfield last night.

Will be good for the boys to get away as a team together for a few days though and do some bonding. Though unless we get injuries I highly doubt it will be a #lolnorf style capitulation.

Outs: McLean, Rough, Morris (all injured), Honeychurch
Ins: Crameri, Prudden (yes, the time has come all you believers), Hrovat (am hopeful rather than expectant), Toyd (perhaps a bit of a risk in hot steamy conditions but we are a tall short with Roughead out)

I think Daniel should be dropped this week. It simply isn't acceptable to go an entire half without a touch, even if his second half was better.
You can just picture him meeting with Beveridge on Thursday afternoon.

"Caleb, you can keep your spot if you can beat me in a height contest".

Gold Coast has a fairly strong side with a couple of talented boys coming off bans and injuries and might field a side that looks like this:
B: Kolodjashnij, May, Saad
HB: Russell, Day, Mckenzie
C: Sexton, Ablett, Malceski
HF: Hall, Lynch, Matera
F: Brooksby, Dixon, Miller
FOL: Nicholls, Rischitelli, Hallahan
I/C: Boston, Swallow, Bennell
SUB: Martin
With injuries to McLean, Morris and Roughead, what side would you line up? And could Boyd, Crameri, Redpath and Stringer work as a forward line.
Rory Thompson will come back and Sam Day will play third talk down back.. Martin if fit, will play ressies due to club ban.. harbrow should come back.. Saad and Russell in doubt due to injury.. hope this helps.. loving your improvement this year guys..

Really want to see Talia back. Hoping Gazza doesn't lift the GCS too much, but can we get Picken to play a tagging role just once? He did a great job on him a couple years ago.

I think it's really important Roughie is fit...I know height isn't everything, but aside from Roughie, Dixon has a bit of height on most of our defenders. Fletch is 196cm, Talia and Hamling 194, Morris if fit gives up a solid 10cm to Dixon...It'd help our cause a whole lot to have Roughie defending him, I feel. If Roughie is good to go it also poses an interesting question of whether or not his main task is defending Dixon or if he'd forego being Dixon's main defender in favour of rucking, considering he's moved on from being that main, game-long KPD for us and even now spends a little bit of time up forward.

I get on one hand giving Honeychurch a couple of games, and not dropping a player after one terrible game. But on the other hand if we want to make finals we need to field the best side we can, particularly against a rejuvenated GC side while we ourselves aren't in great form. Hrovat's strong VFL form probably means that dropping Honey in favour of him at this point looks like the most strategic thing to do. But hey, if Ayce Cordy can get an extended run of it than by all means Honey probably deserves at least another game.

I don't know how Crameri went in the VFL but if he's not playing well in the VFL then he probably shouldn't get the call up, unless they think he needs a go in the seniors to really get back into it. If he had a good game than we could use him. His effort and work rate is there, it's just that I think he has a pretty low 'football iq'. Has a habit of making dumb, momentum ruining decisions.

Even though the last couple of weeks have been 'danger' games for us heading in, this is probably the biggest danger game in this stretch of ours. Despite winning, our form in the last couple of weeks has been poor. Also Bevo's lack of tagging has worked for the most part with a few expected exceptions, but Gazza is something else. He could very well win this game off of his own boot with a 50 possession multiple goal game. Shall be interesting to see what we do.

Oh I didn't think you got many injuries this round, that sucks :( what do you think the Gold Coast side will look like this week?

What's happening with Dixons kidney punch? ABC commentators said it would attract the attention of the MRP. Not sure what everyone has against Crameri. His sped and size are surely big assets.

Why would GC need to play 3 talls down back?

I think he's had his chance at AFL level and hasn't taken it. Will and should be delisted, imo.
Actually? He's been good for us this year. He's a young kid returning after a decent period off injured. He'll take a few to get back into the swing I imagine. If he's delisted I'd be horrified.

We have been playing schade down there as a third tall but with Thompson ready to come back, Schade needs to go back to the two's.. we get away with it because May is so versatile, can play spare and rebounds nicely.. the first string back six for the Suns has loads of exciting potential

Thompson, hopefully Bennell and Harbrow back in.. Russell and Saad in doubt but who knows? And Schade for a break.. if Saad gets up, Lonergan to be omitted

One thing that I have noticed with team selections this year is that MC along with Bev's don't seem to react to one bad performance they seem to give players the benefit of the doubt. They almost give you an extra week or two to see if you can find your form.

Conversely also one good performance at VFL level does not win your place back next week.

I must say I have found it refreshing.

Bulldogs Site says Biggs was best on ground against the Northern Blues. Surely he comes in as a straight swap for McLean? We need some mature, hardened bodies in the side because we were getting pushed off easily during periods of the Saturday game.

Now would be a great time to try out Campbell too.

Honey was woeful and looked completely out of his depth. You need skills up there as the ball is going to be slippery.
I think they'll give Toyd another week off and go with Big Red, Stringer and Crameri.

Also have a feeling one of Moyd or Murph will be rested, and Dahl maybe as well as he has taken a lot of hits this season and seems to have run out of gas.

Basically I'm predicting 5+ changes and don't see any harm in shaking things up. We could have gone down yesterday if carlton kicked straight.

I would like to see Biggs in again he has been in fine form by all reports. Darley simply must make his way into the bests if he hopes to stay on with us. The form of JJ, Wood, Murphy, Boyd, Webb and Wood mean that Pearce, Prudden, Darley, Fuller and Biggs are fighting for very limited spots.

I wouldn't be replacing Morris with talia. With the game up in cairns I'd roll the dice and go in with Hamling and Roberts as our only 2 talls to take on lynch and Dixon. If brooksby and Nicholls (who is waaaaaaay overrated IMO) beat us, so be it.

Wasn't this Honeychurch's first game back in the seniors since he hurt his fat thug Hodge shoulder against Freo?

Second year kids will make mistakes, bloody disgraceful some of the dribble you lot wrote about him after the game. Dickson, Dahlhaus and Redpath were liabilities themselves last night imo. Dickson turned it over a lot and made bad decisions forward of centre, Dahlhaus for the second week in a row barely impacted the game (needs a rest) and Redpath looked like Liam Jones MK2 for the first half (kept on running under the ball, lost too many one on ones).

Think we should just deal with injuries first then make moves after that.

I think most likely this week Honeychurch will be dropped and delisted just like Capuano was a few years back.

What's disgraceful ? Mate settle down . He was poor and that's being kind.
His skill level is a fair way off for a small forward , and to be frank it's never been that good.
But to then compare him with blokes that have performed at a much higher level than him because they have had the odd bad game is a little silly. ( Dahlihas , Dickson )
I'm not writing him off at all , but can't see how he holds his spot this week.
The good news for you is none of us will make that call.
