I am probably going to get ridiculed for this but I think Jono Griffin should play this week. Now Hear me out on this....

Yeah Sean Darcy has Been a good rookie ruckman. But a 1st year player can only do so much. Let Both Darcy and Griffin both spend 50% of the game as rucks and the other 50% as forwards.

If somehow tabs doesn't get in at Least bring in Griffin.

Normally I will be against it , but since I don't really care about the result this week , might as well do it.At least I expect the worse but hoping for a better outcome.

Please no. There is absolutely no point in doing this. If Darcy needs a rest, then rest him and play Jono for the match.

ZERO point having both in the team especially when Griffen has no future.

If he needs a chop out it's Taberner, Cox, Johnson, Strnadica, Inanimate carbon rod, Suban before Griffen even gets considered.

Bit Harsh on Griffin mate. Yes he is at the end of his career and Not as good as he was 2 years ago. He at least offers something. Don't get me wrong I like Darcys development this season and we are playing lots of youth. I done mind bringing Griffin in.

Again, we are playing a few kids but at least balance out the team. Looking at the Backline, when It comes to talls, Johnson and Hamling are our 2 main KPDs. Dawson has essentially been phased out, Collins has played 1 game for freo and many games at Peel. as far as the smaller defenders, Ibbo and Spurr are the experienced guys. A lot of young guys have been rotated in those half back flanks.

Mundy Is the only mid in our 22 that is aged 30 or over. Rest of the mids are in their prime such as both Hill brothers, fyfe and neale. The rest are aged 22 or under 22.

Up forward, Ballantyne just turned 30, Walters is the next oldest at 27. everyone else up forward is under 25 years old.

He offers nothing. Sorry. There was a time when he offered some reasonable fight, but that time has long passed him.

On reflection, likely (not what I want, but what I think might be likely):

Outs
Nyhuis, Logue, Ballas

Ins:
Suttcliffe, CamMac, Ibbo/D Pearce
I'd say Ballas is no chance to be out and Logue only slightly less so. Nyhuis might be in danger because he is not really a forward and Ross will want Cam back.

Out: Nyhuis
In: Cam

I did say it was what I thought the changes would be, not what I wanted.

Would much prefer to see Spurr, Suban and Kersten as the outs, but that don't seem likely given past history...

Yeah I know. I was disagreeing with that. Ross loves Ballas and has praised Logue when given the opportunity.

I don't want it but I fear for Nyhuis and Cox because they are the types that tend to get the chop.

Suban may be in some strife. Gone back to not touching it much and when he did, missed targets with little to no pressure. That said he has be owner of the infinite rope in the past and is probably in for the rest of the year.

It's his last year. We could be playing Deluca instead. Why play Ballas?

Because Grey and Deluca are the only likely options and both are coming back from injury? Wasn't it you lambasting our medical/coaching staff for bringing back players too early? Some consistency would be nice.

Gow does this ruin the rebuild that is in year 2 of 4?

Because if he plays this week we're not rebuilding, despite the fact that we'll still have a dozen or so kids in the team :drunk: It's a pretty silly overreaction.

Because Grey and Deluca are the only likely option

There's half a dozen people we could be playing ahead of Ballas.

He's not part of our future plans and in that light alone his selection makes little sense.

Whilst I would be as happy as any if
Out: Ballas
In: Deluca
happened on Thursday. All teams (not just ours) in rebuilds play old soldiers. Even ones well past there best. I think the coaches would see this as doubly important for our forward line where we have bugger all experience if Ballas doesn't play. I am not suggesting he is playing better than Deluca would but somebody at the club values him being there. Happy to back the club on this one.

If it was just us that did this I would be worried that Ross is being too conservative.

And that's exactly why it doesn't make sense.

The only way to get experience is by playing.

If suban get 150 games , I doubt ballas will get stuck at 145 . Regardless of form he will be playing until the end of the season to archive the milestone bare injury .

It's sad to think that milestones are more important than getting games into kids in a development year, but you are probably right.

Bit damp on Saturday.

Be interesting to see if Tabs gets selected if he can avoid shitting the bed when there's more than a dew on the ground...

It was raining during the WAFL game last week and he kicked 5 straight, so here's hoping he's turned the corner a bit on that front.
