I hate saying this you played better in your loss than we did in our win, im very nervous.
Nothing to worry about. We have too many injuries (again) and not enough depth (as most clubs don't) to cover those injuries.

Went to the game and have refrained from posting till I could see replay. It didnt record dammit, so have not seen TV coverage yet.

Very frustrating game to watch. Felt we were in it till there was 15 minutes to go. We had a lot of skill errors through the game, but held our own with Geelong for most of it. Then it went to shit at the end.

Some good thngs.

Sauce version 2012 seems to be back.
Eddie Betts workrate is great.
Danger's goal
Brodie Smith playing wing where he can use his kick to damage the opposition.
We had Geelong rattled for a lot this game.
I thought McKernan presented well up forward.
Our use of the corridor for a lot of the game.

Now for the things that pissed me off
When Danger was getting smashed by Gunthrie, why not play him up forward. He barely went into the forward line despite being well held out of the game.
Players reverting to the "get out" handball when there is a bit of pressure. And usually to a player who is in as much trouble.
Rory needs to convert more of his scoring opportunities.
Thommo looks old
Pods is shit. He is old and past it. Cant wait for Tex to come back.

Not good enough to be on geelongs list but had a gold pass stapled to his 2 year adelaide contract?
WTF do you think we were recruiting ...a star player

That's what this board have made him out to be ....but the reality was he was always an insurance policy for Walker and our forwards of last year.
What does he bring?
1. He still has pace
2. He still is a good contested mark
3. He provides a tall target which keeps us straight.

If you believed the BF hype that JPod was a star then you have been duped ......as i said his last season with Geelong wasn't flash, but is he as bad as some posters have declared after 1 game ...no way

So we have polar opposites ....some saying he's the difference in getting us to top 4 and other saying he's useless .....the truth is somewhere in between

Unless we expect Tex not to be playing in 2015 why the two years?

As for a couple of your claims:
1) pace? You sure about that?
2) good contested mark? I didn't think that was a strength of Pods. Has he taken a contested mark this preseason? If anything his marking has been a major disappointment.

Correct, he was recruited because we have a guy who won't even be playing at the start of the year with an ACL and doesn't need the pressure that he has to come back and save us, and another one was recovering from a broken ankle..

To be fair, JPod has also had terrible luck so far with being injured in some way in nearly every game..

Thought there was a performance clause after year 1 to activate year 2?

Yes his pace over first 20 mtrs still very good (was an article on it) ......it's why he tends to lay plaenty of defensive tackles
Contested marking was the reason Geelong listed him initially because he was outmarking Geelong players at training when he was a fitness coach there

PS games and contested marking by talls is always average .....last skill to be finetuned after such a long time off between seasons

First I heard of a performance clause, think you are wrong on that one.

I find your last comment bizarre, where have you pulled that one from? You can either take a good contested mark or you can't. You don't need to fine tune it especially if you are a good contested mark. Besides you said he still had a good contested mark, there has been nothing shown this year to support that.

I knew what we were getting, it's plainly obvious. That's why he's subject to being dropped after 1 game, providing jj is right to go. He's a better form of insurance than graham, but not by enough to guarantee him a game if his performance isn't up to scratch.

There are performance clauses but I don't know exactly what they entail..
If it's a trigger for a 2nd year or something else..

Here's something ironic. Watching game day, and this is coming from an elite player in the game, jimmy bartel in one of his 3 things we've learnt from that game highlighted that crows have great depth.

He talked about the fact that while both teams have outs, crows were missing a serious amount of first 22 players. Also added that not having players like vince, Tippett etc anymore doesn't help the cause either. Yes we traded vince, and Tippett has been gone for a year already, it all adds up in the end.

Douglas and Laird available, Radar to put his hand up

We can certainly cover Lynch, Hendo and Otten a trio that have struggled to cement themselves in our best 22 over the past two seasons

He was top 10 in the afl over the last 4 years for contested marks.

You don't just lose that ability in the blink of an eye. Let's give him more than one uninjured, fully fit quarter to plead his case hey?
