Poulos was the one who mentioned we were setting PBs on our various tests.

What wasn't being said was that, with a new fitness guy in setting a new fitness regime, the KPIs being tested were different as well. No surprise that we score a PB on a test designed to monitor our strength after spending a summer sacrificing endurance for size.

It was one of those throwaway lines that is very easily seen through.

Gee i don't know that looks a lot more specific that a casual throwaway line in passing

so we have two players on long term injury list but no upgrades? Why put them on the LTI list then? What are the benefits?

For mine I'd be very interested in looking at Charlie Cameron as the sub. He could cause some serious damage if he came on towards the end of the 3rd qtr. Then again he could be like Kennedy-Harris at Melbourne last weekend and look completely lost.
A risk but could be worth it.

Just my 2 cents.

If I were Sando I'd stand your captain out in front of the rest of your midfield group and then peel the paint of the ****ing walls.

Dangerfield got smashed from pillar to post without so much as a block from anyone of the rest of the mids who were more concerned with getting a kick themselves.

Good luck in the derby :thumbsu:

Our captain snapped his achilles and won't play all season, but the rest of our squad needs a kick up the ass

There's a handful of sentences there, most of which are pretty vague. It's a story built around, yes, a bunch of off-the-cuff lines designed to get a journalist to leave him alone. I mean, hell, the very first line of the article: "ADELAIDE physical performance manager Nick Poulos insists the Crows are fitter than ever and criticism of his regime is misplaced" makes a statement that is not backed up in any way by the actual quotes they list of Poulos.

He does specifically mention PBs on the five minute run, I'll admit to that. He doesn't make any other claims of PBs though, so reports that the club stated we were breaking "every PB" were obviously exaggerations. Other than that he says that they focused on running as well as strength and power, and that he'd love to sit the journalist down and explain what they were working towards, and that the view internally on their fitness doesn't line up with the public perception. That's it. The very definition of a throwaway interview, which was somehow turned into a story where statements Poulos never made were attributed to him in the title of the article.

he made the statement and backed it up with one example of hard data. were you expecting him to list 1 more test where pb's were broken or would it have required 2 or perhaps 3 to tear you away from your own opinion. are you seriously assuming that every other fitness test that is recorded showed less fitness because he didn't state it in the interview. or could it be that he droned on and listed of 15 different fitness measurements where our players had improved, but the reporter chose not to include them in the article.

I think if I am not mistaken once you place a player on the LTI list it allows you to promote a rookie. I could be wrong.

Agree wasn't great, but often starts the season slow.
i reckon he just appears to move slow because he's such a big unit

in reality, he'd probably school the rest of us

We can promote 2 rookies. but not worth promoting until they are needed.

We have done well with upgrading rookies in the past. Was Rutten a rookie?

It would be nice to see a player like Battersby or Cameron make it to our 22.

I agree that Martin, Porps & Shaw should be outs (none have any credit points), but would keep Lyons & start him as did OK when he came on last week (no point swapping him for the less experienced BOB).

Douglas & Laird (assuming both fit) should definitely come in. I would play CEY instead of Hartigan as give more flexibility to play on mids & talls, but not against Hartigan depending on how we are thinking matchups. I would prefer to get by with a CEY/Smith on Butcher when Port play 3 talls deep & they can cover Westoff when he roams the ground.

He got caught out of position a few times last week, which is unlike the Truck ... but as I said, he often starts the year slowly, so certainly would not be writing him off!

Fair enough you saw different, but Ill say it again play him in too many games and we will burn him out Neade style. I agree hes a talent and could be special but at this stage hes not on the main list and giving him a pay rise is just silly.

Give him a few games in the real SANFL against the better sides and see how he goes. Admittedly I think WWT will be one of those but the kid had 10 touches I reckon, its unfair to throw him into the big time now.

And more importantly 3 goals. On top of his 2.6 goals last week. Could have easily kicked 8 or 9 goals in 2 weeks.

He is playing as a forward. So you can't expect heaps of possessions. He would have had much more last game. But he also lays a lot of tackles and applies a lot of perceived pressure which can also cause turnovers.

If Douggy is cleared fit he has to play. Very important to our midfield. Out Martin.

Shaw just doesn't do enough to warrant selection. No fast enough, not enough spark when around the ball, questionable disposal. Would give Hartigan a go.

Porps didn't set the world on fire...does he get another chance? Gold pass some might say? Sando and the selection panel have to make the decision do we accept quiet games from who is moving towards not first 22 player or do we give another in a under bloke a go. BOB come on down.

Cameron is an interesting one. A showdown spot may be just the taste he needs. We need more speed and it came out of our forward line way too easily. Who do you drop out? If you have BOB already then probably Lyons. Grigg and Kerridge did enough to retain their spots. Lyons was sub and didn't have much of an impact when he came on. Cameron as a sub could be a game changer.

So for me Changes Mk 2....
Out

Douglas
M.Crouch
Hartigan
Cameron (Sub)

I would love these changes but can't see them making 4 changes. What about Laird also? Maybe Laird comes in before M.Crouch. Particularly with Port's small forwards.
