He's only getting fully back from injury, he's proven at SANFL level, he looks like a smooth operator at VFL level plus he's a tiny man in a helmet and everyone loves a tiny man in a helmet. Cult hero.

Plus all the other draftees have had a turn.

Wasn't Daniel's form pretty ordinary in the month or so prior to this game?? Why does one good game propel him into a team that's playing well???

coming back from a knee injury and working his way back into fitness, form. I think he has shown enough, but happy for him to keep playing the magoos for a little while.

I just love the idea of rookies playing, creates a buzz, gets other players up and about, etc.

No Daniel tore it up pre season and was being talked about as a strong chance to be our first draftee to debut prior to his injury.

The reason I'm excited about Caleb is that his game looks like it will translate well to seniors. Also was emg this week , so was close prior to his last game (I think)

I didn't know pre-season was in the month or so prior to this weeks game.....

Mate he was emergency this last game. Doesn't that suggest that your initial contention that he 'd had one good game was well wrong?

Combine with his pre injury form and he must be in contention...

McLean likely to get another game? Is he worth putting in my Supercoach ;)
He'll be playing this week for sure, I can see him getting a good crack at it in the coming weeks...

What I like about Daniel most is his amazing hands, the connect between brain and action is split second and he can thread the eye of a needle with his hand passes. When he gets his chance it will be fascinating to watch the little fella.

Spot on DNB, add his decision making in that split second as well and you have a very exciting prospect...

In: Crameri
Out: Dale or Mclean* Depending on how we manage the young players
Seriously can't see McLean being rested after yesterday's game VD but stranger things have happened... Crameri is a certain inclusion if fit and Morris might be a sneaky inclusion maybe for Webb??

I totally agree, Mclean had a great game hence the player management part since we have taken out the kids to bring in mature bodies against some sides.

Rather keep both in

He's played about 5 quarters of footy in 3 weeks and had a great game on the weekend. Surely doesn't need to be managed.

Hunter was replace with the same amount of game time

Talia needs to come back in this week. Irrespective of form we need him lining up on Riewoldt from the get go. 3 tall defenders this week, need to respect Bruce and Riewoldt. Hamling also said he enjoys playing small so he can play on Membrey/Billings.

For a player of Daniel's height, to be AFL-level and to be drafted they need to have either exlectric speed (Jake Neade style), absolutely brilliant mental effort and fortitude (Libba snr being a scragger and tagger and having the concentration to be a tagger late in his career), or in Daniel's case, great raw "footy" technical skills (the simple art of kicking and handballing).

Obviously for a player with his height he'll have a ceiling for his potential and all that jazz, in a game where pressure and forcing opposition turnovers is becoming increasingly a barometer for success (well, our success has been because of high quality pressure), the ability to be skillful under pressure is also becoming increasingly important. Whilst I'm getting this just from a couple of VFL games and his U/18 highlights, Daniel's raw skills of kicking, handballing and decision making under pressure are top notch. Didn't he have a kicking efficiency of like 92% in the U/18 championships? The I'm trying to make, is that Daniel certainly has a place at AFL level and whilst there'll probably be times where we'll wince (or laugh if it's a game that we're winning easily, such as the 2018 Grand Final vs GWS when we're up 100 at 3qt) as he doesn't have the ability to compete in a marking contest, or doesn't have the reach/height to get a hand in to knock a ball away in a contested situation or effect a smother, there'll also be times where we enjoy his impeccable kicking skill to hit up Stringer or Boyd leading inside 50, or to fire off a quick handball in congestion to a running Johannisen or Jong on the outside.

Can't really find a place for him in this week's team which is what this thread is all about, isn't it?

Cordy kicked a bag but he wasn't dominant, no way he or Campbell come in. Likewise with Morris, Talia was much better but you can't drop Roberts or Hamling now.

Crameri, Honeychurch
Hrovat, Dale

Not saying hunter comes in, was referring to the amount of game time Mclean and hunter have had
And I am saying hunter was dropped for being shit, management was irrelevant

Out: Dale, Webb
In: Crameri, Morris

B: Morris Roberts Wood
CHB: JJ Hamling Murphy
C: Grant Wallis Dahlhaus
CHF: Dickson Roughead Crameri
F: McLean Boyd Stringer
R: Minson, Bont, Macrae
Int: Stevens, Picken, Boyd
SUB: Hrovat

I'd like to see Daniel in this week against the Saints, Dale out. I like Dale, unassuming type but he has had his run and done well. Seeing a little bloke in a helmet might see more salty tears from Saints supporters as they suddenly get flashbacks of Bourke... only tearing THEM a new one :p
