Good thing that they aren't going to risk playing an injured player. Knew that his hammy wouldn't be right.

Assuming we make it through and he's right for the GF, some poor bastard is going to lose their spot.

thats what i was thinking as soon as i saw this. and to whoever said byrnes will come in i dont think it will happen, kelly will slot straight in for chapman and hopefully do a defensive role on gilbee although his match fitness would be down, and wojcinski straight in for prismall, they wont hesistate bringing in wojo. so whoever doesnt perform on friday night will be terribly unlucky if we win

Kelly already comes in for Prismall mate.

Gamble comes in.

Chapman is a gun, one of my favourite players, a hard at it and fair player.

He will be missed but you guys have a tremendous amount of depth so I think you can cover his absence.

The policy of players being 100% fit is the right one.Would love Chappy to be playing but would hate him breaking down more

I actually dont care who comes in for chappy as long as it not you know who.
The harder decision will possibly be who to drop next.

Worst case scenario if you know who comes in, we know who will go out next week.

do you think they could squeeze in all three?

Bomber for Prismal
Kelly for Chapman
Gamble for varcoe

4 goals to gamble last time we played them, i think he is a much more versatile player, good mark and hard at it (does give away the occasional unnecessary free). Varcoe is good, flashy and runs players down but i would prefer gamble in the line up as i think he would be a bit harder for the dogs to curtail

Agree with this and if Chappy is right for the G.F (after we win on Friday night :)) he'll come in for Gamble. Unlucky for Gamble and Varcoe but Chappy can play the roving forward role too and if fit and we need a hard nut in the side if it's the hawks we're playing on the last day.
Byrnes is not in the mix.

Gamble and Varcoe lack experience, could feel the pressure and not perform. Too big a risk if you ask me. Wojo can't be 100% imo otherwise he would have been squeezed in already.

Byrnsie is the safe way forward!

Any replies??!!

Geelong has been honest all year when it comes too, who is in and out of the side. But this time i think Geelong are going to pull a funny. Chapman looked ok to me today.

But if he is out then i think kelly will come in and Gamble for Prismall and Chapman and maybe Wojo in for Varcoe

Provided we get over the Doggies i think resting Chappy is the right decision. As Bomber said we dont want Chappy breaking down on friday night in the 1st qtr and being a man down for the remainder of the game and missing the GF. Another point, Chappy was close to best on ground against the Hawks in the qtr and a half that he played so we would definately want him if it pans out that we do play the Hawks in the GF.

It was prob a tough call to rule Chappy out this week but a safe and smart one. Hopefully Gamble is the inclusion and does his part for the team in what would most likely be his last game of the year, although if there was an injury in the prelim then he could keep his spot and we also get to bring Chappy in for the GF

EDIT: However, it does seem odd to rule a player out on Wednesday, why not keep the Doggies guessing up until 45 minutes before the bounce when teams have to be finalised, it will be interesting if Chappy is named as an emergency

i threw up a bit in my mouth then....i would prefer a player like gamble in the finals that has a goal kicking accuracy of 63% (21.12) this year, compared to byrnes 44% 8.10 (career36% (27.48))
i think gamble has played enough big games to be considered before byrnes.
agree with wojo, but his pace off the backline could be crucial for the fast breaks on the large mcg ground

Hopefully Gamble. Throw Moons, Longas, Ottens and Gamble up forward and they cannot matchup on that. Lake can only take one of them at a time.
