Coach Chris Scott - coach of the year?

Regardless, the point is with limited access to the draft, Geelong has remained competitive without bottoming out, which suggests that at the very least, he is a good coach.

Not coach of the year though. That’s Fagan.
This is BS. They have had access to the draft just like everyone else but they have used it differently. Dangerfield, arguably in the top 3 players in the league, came over for unders (salary wise), which allowed them to keep Selwood, Hawkins and get Ablett back. They have also been lucky with players slipping through to their picks. Richmond recruiters ranked Jordan Clark in their top ten last year and he slipped through to them for instance. Those very things have kept them being a force.

You would give it a shake I'm sure. Can't stop whinging about him and Geelong.

Anyone who doesn't kiss Geelong's ass is obsessed with hating them.
Got it.
Geelong is a bubble and the folks don't read news from sources other than the Geelong Advertiser.
That explains the train of thought you all have where you expect everyone to kiss the ass of Chris Scott and the Cats.

Chris Scott is a fantastic coach anyone disputing that is clueless. However they have a huge monkey on there back with Recent finals exists there’s a lot of pressure on the club to have a reasonable finals series versing a Victorian club at the G can exploit that pressure against Geelong.

It's a bit of a nothing award: no-one remembers who won it in a given year. I suppose it's Fagan's to lose right now. But how many Geelong supporters, let alone opposition supporters, expected this Geelong team to finish top two and - most likely first - at the end of the H&A?

For all the terrific Geelong teams and routine top four finishes in recent years, they haven't finished on top of the ladder since 2008 and I think they've done it three times in my life from memory.

Please - enough with the common sense. This is a Richmond troll thread, remember?

The award is mostly for exceeding expectations. Geelong have certainly been better than most expected but Brisbane are sitting third and that is probably ten positions higher than pre-season consensus. So Fagan will likely win.

And the other thing is their home games at KittyLitter Park and their draw if you can call it that...

FUN FACT 1:

Geelong in their last 16 games have played only 4 teams who were in the eight at time of playing them.( the least amount of all clubs )...............

which means on the flipside they have played a whopping 12 out of their last 16 games against teams who were in the bottom 10 at time of playing them.

In the last 16 games they have had the 2nd easiest draw behind Carlton.

Are they actually that good or have they just benefited from an easy fixture.

benny hill wtf.gif

It's amazing that Chris Scott has never won coach of the year award especially given how successful he's been over his coaching career.

His team was written off at the start of the year and expected to miss the top 8, but Scott has reinvented the wheel this year with his coaching and anyone who has watched us this year and watched us last year can see there is a huge difference in the way we play.

For these reasons, he has to be the frontrunner for the coach of the year award right now.
Very funny.

Uhuh. Clark ‘slipped through’ to 15 because other clubs didn’t select him. Simple. Dangerfield was a free agent who came home. Simple.
Regardless, Geelong have always finished too high to reap much benefit from the draft. Fair enough. They have had 1 top 10 pick in the past decade. ( cockatoo who actually never plays) And a sprinkling of top 20 picks. Have a look at other clubs- they have benefitted much more from the draft.
Its ok to be obsessed-just try to for some accuracy. We’ve pretty well just struggled along under our own steam. Well done cats- tip your hat to a beautiful club ancient.
