Tonight's laugh out loud moment had to be when dwayne said that Dumont isn't best 22 and Simpkin starts ahead of him round 1.

Froggy is so clearly best 22, he's been one of our top 3 midfielders this preseason for mine.

Haha I genuinely laughed out loud at that comment. He's such a ****ing idiot and once again shows how very little he knows about North Melbourne, and how unqualified he is for his job.

In what world are Dumont and Simpkin competing for the same spot?

And even if they were, Dumont is arguably a top 10 player at the club now. He's an absolute lock for our best 22.

Dwayne I have noticed over the many years as the following commentary in a game:

North up by 48 with 4 mins to go. Tigers just kicked a goal to make it 42 points.

"Tigers are now down by 42 and are still in with a chance with 4 mins to go"

North just kick a goal

"Tigers now have no hope with 3 and a half mins left but if they kick the next one they might be in with a slim chance. "

Tigers kick a goal at 2 mins left, still down by 42.

"North are crumbling and Tigers are threatenining to steal this match away from the Roos as we know the Roos crumble late in games.....They just need 7 goals in 2 mins and a point or two and the match can go their way".

Look I know they try and keep viewers there but the amount of times where I have seen him commentate like this over the years is just plain dumb. He sways from left to right and thinks games are still open for stealing when its just plain impossible at some points. Just like his commentary. Leave the special comments to the other guys.

I enjoyed the bit where they listed the players we were without tonight. A random assortment of names - the rested, the injured, and anyone else that came to mind. With nary a thematic link to be heard. Insightful stuff indeed.

Whatever these imbeciles are paid, it's too much.

I was shattered to see the Dermie Dwayne combo for our game but thrilled to be able to fast forward. Nearly threw the TV out the window during the moments after Lindsay received a free kick for a high tackle. So many unnecessary thoughts expressed by the "experts" . Plain victimising

Dermott is the worst of the lot. Lindsay trying to pick the ball up in a contest, "o, he's tried to duck the head a little there". Lol

Dwayne and Dermott were excellent last night:

- Sam Wright can apparently play every position on the ground & North should attempt to play him in each of those positions simultaneously so that we can emulate the Bulldogs; who can run 83% of their players through the midfield in potentially the most frogshit statistic of all time & is apparently the only reason they won the Grand Final

- Lindsay playing midfield is good; but him taking the ball in a contest like 99% of other midfielders and attempting to weave his way out of traffic and being struck high is cause for Dermott to say something along the lines of "Ohhh look Lindsay knows exactly what he's doing there, he's taken the ball and then he's angled his body to leave the congestion and he's been caught by Mumford's forearm. He knows what he's doing there though." If any other player in the league does the exact same thing they chide Mumford for being reckless but because it's LT, he's pillocked for "attempting to leave the congestion at an angle". Spare me. You know this one was bad because Dwayne was sticking up for us

- Thompson deserved to be punched in the face by Toby Greene, who is "just a bit of a larrikin"

- Dermott's extreme fawning over Jeremy Cameron, Jonathan Patton, Nick Haynes, Toby Greene, Nathan Wilson, Zac Williams; et al. You would have thought that he was personally responsible for birthing each and every single one of them out of his arse hole, raising them and breastfeeding them from a tender young age, driving them all to games and cheering from the side lines & comforting them when they're sad. I know he's a forward line consultant at the Giants which makes it all the more bewildering that he's allowed to commentate games and call players by their first names and/or "Haynesy", "Greeny" etc etc

OUT: Brent Harvey. IN: Brent Harvey 2.0?

The shocking departure of the North Melbourne champion was one of the big stories of 2016 but according to former Kangaroo and now Fox Footy commentator Nick Dal Santo, the team has brought in the perfect replacement.

While former Bulldog Nathan Hrovat didn’t star in the final week of the JLT Community Series he was solid, collecting 16 disposals and five tackles in the loss to the GWS Giants.

And Dal Santo believes Hrovat can overcome the other contenders for a half-forward spot in the Roos’ best 22, which include Taylor Garner (DNP on Friday night) and Kayne Turner (three goals in a half).

“We know he’s going to be given opportunity — he’s almost a direct replacement for Brent Harvey,” Dal Santo said.

“He’s got big shoes to fill if he’s going to play that role for North Melbourne throughout the year. He’s back with his old teammate from the Western Bulldogs in Shaun Higgins and we’ve seen through the first two JLT games they work really well together.

“He’s a modern midfielder because he’s able to go up the ground as almost a halfback with that slingshot, he starts at half back and he works so hard. He works so hard forward that he’s able to contribute on the scoreboard or set it up.”

Fellow commentators Alastair Lynch and Dermott Brereton were also full of praise for Hrovat’s potential.

“(It’s) his ability to run off half back and distribute the ball — at their best North Melbourne’s forward line can be potent, when Jarrad Waite gets up and going as well, so I think he’s going to play a critical role,” Lynch said.

Brereton explained he thought he was “stiff in the back half of last year” not to play senior games for the Bulldogs, as the 22-year-old played just four games between Rounds 20 and 23 when injuries continued to take their toll.
