Personally I'd say they're about even. Murphy is no more important to their structure than Jones is to the Roos.

This appears to be one of those "I'm right, you're not" threads. At the very least , those from either teams involved should explain why their player is better.

Having said that, I actually wouldn't mind Jones in our team. I think he's under-rated. He works hard and takes a good mark. A bit unreliable in the kicking department but someone who slips under the radar and can hurt a team.

I will be accused of being biased but Murphy has to be rated a better player. Amazing balance, good pace, great skills, strong overhead and plays a key role on the forward line. He's also a lot stronger on his wrong side than Jones is. His biggest wekaness is his body shape but he's certainly a lot stronger now than a few years back. When he first started he was the skinniest bloke I've ever seen play AFL.

I'd say Jones is "blue collar" whilst Murphy has more than a touch of class. They both play well consistently.
