Get rid of the "Suns" nickname. As bad as "Power".
Both those teams need a new nickname.

Very much agree with both.Bulldogs back to Footscray.
West Coast to Perth.
Giants should change name to NSW Giants and take on the light blue colours.
Bulldogs back to Footscray.
West Coast to Perth.
From a design (or perhaps just obsessive-compulsive) point of view, it really bugs me that 17 of the teams are based around a town/defined area, and then the Bulldogs are just 'Western'.
The Adelaide Crows can be referred to as 'Adelaide', the West Coast Eagles can be referred to as 'West Coast', even the GWS Giants can be 'GWS' or 'Greater Western Sydney', but the Bulldogs are never a place - they're always either the 'Western Bulldogs' or just the Bulldogs.

For me, as suggested above, the Bulldogs should be either West Melbourne or Footscray.
Perth Eagles
Hate the overuse of the word "west" in the AFL.
I agree with the second bit - but we were the first club to have West in our name. The others should never have been allowed, its just poor branding. Especially 'Western', which is just terrible. Besides, we are the most Western team in the comp so we should keep it.
North Melbourne don't need a change. Fat lot of good it did them in the early 00s.Agree regarding branding. It's incredibly stupid of the AFL to allow that.
Nothing wrong with Footscray, like there's nothing wrong with other teams retaining suburban names like Essendon, Hawthorn, etc
GWS is the worst name in all of sports, around the world. The most homogenized nothing name. Even "West Sydney" is as useless a name.
Despite any sporting league around the world being a pond, where its own city or suburban names don't mean anything to anyone outside that country, it's still done and should be followed, as they're very unique names.
North Melbourne is also up for a change.
West Coast does have relevance, clearly means Western Australia, but now that we have Fremantle, and perhaps soon a third WA team, the West Coast name should be changed as it's redundant. At the time, pride of all WA, in a Victorian league. The town name of Fremantle is superb, no need to have been called Greater Southern West Coast Dockers, or South West Coast Dockers, for instance.
San Francisco and Oakland, for instance, two neighboring cities....synonymous names now despite being city names. Far better than West Bay and East Bay as names just to try to 'capture' a region of people.
Essendon, Hawthorn, etc are all fine names. Iconic, unique, as Nth American city names for sporting clubs.
West Coast to Perth Eagles
North Melbourne Kangaroos to something like Kensington Kangaroos (for instance), which is where they're located more specifically.
GWS Giants to something like Nepean Giants (again, more specific) or perhaps Cumberland Giants, or Macarthur Giants
Western Bulldogs to Footscray Bulldogs
Similarly, in the NRL, the Sydney Roosters really should change their name to Bondi Roosters....far more specific/relevant, and iconic name now known around the world.
North Melbourne don't need a change. Fat lot of good it did them in the early 00s.
Capturing a region -- at the time of being the only WA team in a VFL, okay. But not anymore. You're not SERIOUSLY capturing the entire Western Australian coastline population with that name, not like people will travel, they'll follow whomever they choose to on television, now that there is more than one team to choose from. Also, memberships, Eagles capturing Perth people more than non-Perth people now with Fremantle in the league. To all those who say West Coast should change to Perth, I don't think they realise how many fans they have all over WA, not just Perth. WC is working for them big time, especially in country areas and areas outside Perth along the coast, I've seen it myself.
Granted, "west coast" in it's literally sense refers to a coastline, but for country folk that's fine. I don't think Perth would be.
Every initiative is fantastic until things turn to shit.Wrong, St Kilda are currently on 31,314 members according to our website.
You have no idea how silly you sound, the club has initiated a number of fantastic initiatives over this past off season and are well on our way to fulfilling the 5 year plan we have set in place. "St Kilda means nothing now"? Are you for real? It's the name of the club we love, they may not play in the St Kilda area anymore, but they haven't done so since 1964, and it really hasn't hurt us any.
I have absolutely no idea why you are so doggedly determined that the club arbitrarily changes its entire 141 year identity when there is absolutely no good reason to do so. The club can represent the whole of the southern area using the community outreach and fan engagement methods the club is currently employing, changing the identity of the club will do absolutely nothing to help that, in fact, as I have detailed numerous times to you, it will probably hurt the club more than anything else.
No doubt you won't listen (again) and I'll have to address this again in the future, because you simply don't seem to get it. A random name change isn't some magic spell that automatically fixes all a clubs problems. The fact you expect it would is worrying.
North Melbourne Kangaroos to something like Kensington Kangaroos (for instance), which is where they're located more specifically.
Which is part of Kensington, no?Huh?
Arden St is bang set in the middle of North Melbourne.
Which is part of Kensington, no?
North Melbourne isn't a suburb, is it?No they are two separate suburbs
Kensington is to the west of North Melbourne.
GWS Giants to something like Nepean Giants (again, more specific) or perhaps Cumberland Giants, or Macarthur Giants
Blacktown Giants.By your logic, they would have to actually play or train in one of those areas.
Blacktown Giants.
There you go!
