Dees odds on for

I saw the current 2009 odds for the Dees , and they didn't make good reading. To be honest, unfortunately, I can't argue with the bookies. It seems we are certainties for the spoon again in 2009.

I'm trying to be as postive as I can...but I'm finding it difficult to see who will replace us in 16th spot in 2009.

In other words, which of the other teams will slide in 2009.??

The closest I can come to is Essendon and maybe North ( but we keep saying North every year and look at them...) Apart from them, maybe a Freo..but thats about it.

West Coast were playing "dead" those last 6 games I reckon, so I think they will "improve" dramatically. They had a lot up their sleeve.

...anyway, I can't see us going better than 16th. 15th or 14th at the very, very best. Hmmm...long road ahead. I know we'll be back at some point in time, but I think maybe 2011-12 would be the time we would be looking at top 8 spot...and thats a best case scenario.

You never know they may enlarge the final 8 to a final 10 with the GC17 coming in.

Contrary to popular beleif, teams don't tank, especially players. From what i saw of WC in round 20 (absolutely horrible) you guys should win the spoon next year.

We were playing with the shell of our best side all year. Injuries killed us. No chance at all of spoon. If I had to guess, then I'd say about 10/11th. Wish I knew you in real life because I'd put any amount of money on us not winning it.

We played most of the year without a whole chunk of our better players. Kerr, Hunter, Brett Jones, Waters, Butler, Kennedy, Hurn, Rosa and Le Cras all played less than 11 games and all part of our best 22. By the end (ie playing you) we only had 25 fit players.

I'm not really up to date with your list so I wont pass comment but we were hit hard. Who you guys got to come back in

Off the top of my head when we played you missing from our best 22 were

McLean, Rivers, Paul Johnson, Chris Johnson, Moloney, Robbo & Davey. Probably more but i can't remember. And we still easily beat you by 40 points.

You can say what you like about our prospects next year but dont read too much into that R20 game. You'd want to have a better reason why you'll be higher than us next year.

That's exactly it, the team who finishes last will be a slightly below average team which has a terrible injury run. That's all that seperates a lot of teams IMO - injuries.

I wouldn't say that we'll cop the same run as last year, hence, no wooden spoon.

Also, we play 11 games with a massive home ground advantage. We should never win a spoon with that kind of luxury.

The original poster has no idea at all.

There is no chance the Bombers will finish last next year and i hate to say that because i hate Essendon.
They cleaned out the department that let them down and cost them any chance at finals this year, the fitness staff.
