Disney continues its move into live action remakes with a tale of the true Chinese princess, Fa Mulan. Following in the footsteps of Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King, Mulan embodies the virtues of strength, honour and loyalty as she fights to defend the kingdom against a hoard of ravenous Xian Lang (replacing Shan Yu). Can Mulan make it in "a mans world"?

Appearance of Xian Lang is but one of a few adaptive changes from the original we all grew up loving. To loyal fans disgust, talking dragon Mushu is not featured (voiced by Eddie Murphy). Or the evil falcon/hawk.

Mulan is played by the angelic YiFei Liu. Others to feature are Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, Jason Scott Lee (sure to draw upon his experiences as Bruce Lee - no relation) as Böri Khan, and Yoson An as Cheng Honghui, with Gong Li as Xianniang and Jet Li as the Emperor.

Here's a combination of all the clips/trailers released so far (*warning, may spoil*)

Mulan opens to Disney + subscribers on Friday 5th September (check local guides). Subscribers will need to pay $34.99 to watch, but from thereon in are able to watch a million times if one wishes. Certainly this has caused some angst, but if we take the $34.99 fee and put it against say what is paid for a family of 4 it doesn't seem too bad. People who refuse to pay this, respect their stance.

May Friday night arrive quickly.
