They did trade in Frost don't forget.

True, but Frawley is a big loss for them though.
Paul Roos is a known lover of defence first, attack later.

If they could get Hogan and another key position backman playing this year, it might sway his opinion of who they want.
One can only dream.
Imagine it.
We pick up a slider in Grundy at 19 who was rated as a top 5.
Sharenberg who was rated as one of the best prospects,
And now Brayshaw.

Crap, I'm going to have to start typing with my nose soon.:p

Potential it changes something if Melbourne don't want to go with 2 midfielders at picks 2 and 3, meaning either Brayshaw or Petracca slide to 4 which means GWS can't take Pickett or laverade from us at 4

1: McCartin

2: Petracca

3: Best tall defender/Forward left (maybe Wright or Lever)

4: Brayshaw

5: Pickett/De Goey / Laverade

Which is no real difference to how it stands should pettracca go 1 and mcCartin 3.
Other then maybe not having access to Wright.

Good point and they were reported to be interested in him a while back. Geez their list is shite, they need quality fwds, mids, backs, rucks.

They are into Brayshaw in a big way, surely they couldn't pass up Petracca though, imagine if he slipped to pick 5, no I better stop now.

There is no reason they wont just take Petracca and Brayshaw.

Dawes, Fitzpatrick 3rd tall fwd/ruck, Hogan now in year 3 and should be ready to start showing something.

There defense though is very light on but you can get solid KPD later in drafts.

What a dramatic upswing in posts on the back of one tweet. Even if it is amusing because that information won't change the top 3 at all (if it's true).

Jason Taylor will call out Petracca and Brayshaw with Hine like enthusiasm when selecting Grundy!

He is such a big kid that he should have been able to monster his opponents more and kick more goals against better sides. His hauls came in a big way vs sides that were pretty lowly rated. Look at his numbers vs the better sides and he struggled. I saw a couple of his games and he just didnt do as well as I would have hoped. Look at a kid Tom Boyd. Strong view that he was a dominant junior (like Hawkins) who got their goals bc they could monster their opponents as they were just physically so much bigger. When they got to AFL level they both struggled as they came up agaisnt bigger bodies and didnt have the leading pattern knowledge etc to fall back on. My tip is Boyd will continue to bc his leading patters seemed are all over the place and he didnt seem to understand what he was doing. So the fear with mcKenzie is he couldnt dominate when he probably should have been able to. Either be being a good leader at the footy or towering over his opponents. Not saying I agree with it but that is a view.
Couldn't agree more with the Boyd assessment Snoop. Have watched a number of his games live and for a 'natural' forward the smarts just aren't there.

His leading patterns are very ordinary, speed and agility is lacking and he's struggling with one on ones and the second man over the top spoiling.

Not sure it makes much difference but the final draft order has been released (factoring in clubs free list spots) and our 5th rounder has come in from 85 to 75.

Factoring in f/s and academy picks already committed before that pick (9 players) that pick becomes about 66th of whose left.

Hine snagged Langdon at 65 and Marsh at 77 last year. Reckon he finds another gem again here.

If reports are correct and StKilda are taking McCartin with pick one it does potentially change clubs decisions. For weeks Melbourne were most likely thinking they would take McCartin and Brayshaw. I think they would choose Petracca over Brayshaw but they might not want 2 midfielders. They have Tyson, Viney, Toumpas, Trengove and Salem all of which have been chosen with first round picks as midfielders. Add Petracca, why would they want to use another top draft pick on a midfielder? Wright or Lever as KPP could find themselves being interviewed by Melbourne again. GWS would then have the choice between Brayshaw and Pickett, I think they would choose Pickett. Brayshaw could be heading our way :)

If Melbourne does take Pretracca and Brayshaw, they'll have an awesome midfield to kick to Hogan (with the whole opposition backline on him). I think Melbourne will want another forward to support Hogan, Dawes isn't reliable with his injuries.

There's about 15 players going to that thing. Langford has been rumoured to go to Gold Coast's pick 8.

Gold Coast are said to want Duggan at 8. Langford is more likely for Gold Coast at 15 is the talk.

She has links to the club? I doubt that.

Paige I can confirm does have relationships with the players. She is great mates with Nathan Freeman and Darcy Moore particularly. Loves them both as if they're her children.

At the TAC Cup games you'll see her on the sidelines doing the calling for TAC Cup radio and does post game interviews with the TAC Cup boys.

Not that, that has anything to do with draft day accuracy.

She is also mentored by Brett Anderson from SEN and is friendly with Emma Quayle so she has more "inside links" than most outside the system and outside the major media sources.

Knightmare
Kevin Sheehan has compiled his list of draftees on the AFL webside.
I don't know how to put it up, but it is a worth while read.
Any chance you can??

Just looking at it now.

A few slight surprises in there. Mark Pittonet as a ruckman probably goes late draft. But his 11,7 beep test (worst at the draft combine) and his poor 3k time are somewhat off-putting. - Though that Dean Cox guy turned it around, I'm not so optimistic with Pittonet.

Wigg as a small (sub 180cm) defender I'm not a fan of. Productive and efficient kick but you just can't down back be sub 180cm with too many similar types who had similar junior careers struggling to take that next step. But Shifted isn't the only one to rate Wigg inside his top 40.

Zaine Cordy seems to have his fans but he is a relatively light body who doesn't seem big enough to be a key defender or a dominant enough rebounder to be a 3rd tall. Like with Wigg, Cordy also has his fans but again another I don't have on my draft board.

Cunico is another on Shifter's draft board I've cooled on as the year has progressed. He can take on the game and break the games to an extent but not to a freakish level. Just very outside, a below average kick and probably not as damaging or dominant as some others.

Otherwise I largely like Shifter's 40 and I imagine the lot of them get drafted and probably just about all in the first half or so of the draft.

I expect Brayshaw and Petracca is Melbourne's preferred outcome. I don't see that top 3 changing regardless of who St Kilda pick.

But in our situation you prepare for all situations and have those situationals worked out and a shortlist organised that covers all those situations and a draft board to use to guide those selections.

If that is the case, I'm hopeful of us taking Pickett. I think he would be preferred over Leverde.
If reports are true that we're interested in getting DeGoey with pick 5 I would be disappointed. I think we would be better getting Wright with pick 5 (best available KPP at pick 5) and get a midfielder with pick 30. I would choose Blakely or Mckenzie ahead of DeGoey. You choose best available player and DeGoey at pick 5 is not the best available player imo.

Why would you be Dissapointed in De Goey?

Levarde is ahead of him but De Goey gives us a More Purer Mid. He uses the Ball Very Well, Good Overhead Mark and Has Kicked some Lovely Goals. Biggest thing he could Improve on is how much he gets the Ball.

Video’s of De Goey:

Pickett seems just about locked in at 4, so it will still be those same four.

De Goey I'd prefer we don't select at 5. Any of Laverde/Langford/Wright would in my view be better choices. De Goey is good in so much as he is a mid who can play forward and take a mark which is invaluable, but there are just too many better performed options for me to be interested that early in De Goey.

Well - Going by Emma and Paige it looks like De Goey is the New Favourite.

Well IF true Hine and Co expect him to improve very quickly. He done some very nice things in his Video Highlights and has some Class about him.

I have De Goey 3rd best with me now behind just Wright and Laverade. Though Langford is Right behind him with Ahern

I've started to like the idea of nabbing De Goey at 5, he's got the kind of attitude and hard nosed approach to his game that makes me think he will develop into a really solid player. I would still rate Laverde higher than him at this stage and would probably prefer us pick up Laverde, but wouldn't be disappointed with De Goey when all is said and done.

I think DeGoey is going to be a good player but for me Wright as a KPP is best available at out our pick. We can get a really good midfielder at pick 30 and 48 but a Wright type player won't be available then. If we're after a pure mid I don't think DeGoey can accumulate enough of the ball to warrant being selected at pick 5. We have Levi Greenwood, Thomas, Adams, Kennedy and Freeman to get it out of the centre, see no reason to be getting an inside type player when we already have young players to fill that role.

I think our two greatest needs are a speedy midfielder and another tall forward to help Cloke and Moore for the future. If Pickett goes at 4, we should take Wright with pick 5 and get a speedy midfielder with pick 30 and 48.

I said I had Wright and Lavarde ahead of Wright but I think De Goey plays the right way and does some very classy thing’s.

Bio from AFL.com.au
Competitive and versatile medium defender/midfielder. Strong overhead and in one-on-one contests. Good decision-maker by hand and foot, and impressed for Victoria Metro in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, averaging 15 possessions and three marks at 74 per cent efficiency. Provided a spark up forward by booting three goals in the Oakleigh Chargers' Grand Final win, playing mainly forward. Makes the most of his opportunities.

Shows he can go Forward and Snag a Few Goals and using it at 74% is elite. Also playing more Forward then Mid means why he did not get much of the Ball. Kicked 3 Goals in the TAC Cup GF. Also does not waste many Disposals

Looking at his highlights again that you provided, you have changed my opinion. I would be happy with DeGoey at our club. I would just love to have Pickett for his pace and flare.

What are the chances of connor blakely being available at 30 .he was selected in the u18 all australian team.
