Rhyce was taken in the 2nd round - the rule for father son back then before it was moved out to third round. Cos we were wooden spooners he was taken with the first pick of the 2nd round. That Wikapedia table says first round - its wrong. Note both Brown and Doyle father sons went 2nd round also.

Fraser was our priority pick that year at #1 and Danny Roach our normal first round pick (after we had swapped pick 3 and clinton king for pick 7 and steve mckee. Dumbest deal of all time considering pavlich went at #4)

Here is something I have just compiled

- Carlton were stripped of their first three rounds of draft picks in the 1999 NAB AFL Draft.
- Collingwood and Fremantle both received priority selections in the 1999 NAB AFL Draft.
- Each of the first three rounds in the 1999 NAB AFL Draft were short one selection, meaning 15 picks in each round rather than the usual 16.
- The second round was the criteria to pick up father-son selections
- If a club (Brisbane Lions) was to pick up two f/s selections, the second would be done in the third round.
- Rhyce Shaw (Coll) was picked up at no.18, Pies only second round draft pick.
- no.18 was the first pick of the 2nd round in the 1999 NAB AFL Draft.

Yeah...and danny roach then retired before the season started!!!

5th round or later. He wasn't rated too highly. Since the rule was (and I think still is) if you have two F/S picks you have to use 3rd round and 2nd round picks (as opposed to just 3rd round) , we were tossing up whether to pick up just Brayden Shaw under the rule with a 3rd round pick and perhaps try our luck in later rounds, pick them both under F/S, or perhaps just pick Brayden Shaw and not worry about Heath at all.
